The Gonzales tech insisted on fussing with a weeping issue we had (from a plugged condensor discharge tube). He wasted lots of time (poorly) dismantling the freezer compartment. Ridiculously, the discharge tube is actually accessed at the lower back of the fridge. The tech had nothing to clear the tube, so my tool box provided the stiff wire needed. The tech then refused to check - without booking a second visit - why the freezer was not working (i.e. not freezing), which was the original reason for the call-out. It turned out that the freezing system (using freon or a more modern alternative) had a leak - diagnosed within 5 minutes by a real fridge repairman who we sourced through local friends (so, live and learn). The fridge was replaced, because leaks can't be fixed on modern fridges. And, having the tech fix the leaking discharge tube (which he insisted on) was a complete waste of time and money ($250).

They immediately said they were disturbed that a company would tell me this since all it needed was a calibration AND they could walk me through it over the phone. I realize people can make mistakes so I asked them to call the next morning and give me a logical explanation as to why they were going to charge me that amount AND replace a part that not only would have been costly BUT the estimate said the part would take 3-4 weeks to get.
