I recently had to make the painful decision to put my sweet soul cat to sleep due to end stage kidney and liver failure. I chose Total Care, and it was honestly the most horrifying experience I've ever had and has left me with a deep soul wound that I will carry with me to my dying day. Maybe they're good if you're using them for veterinary services - I can only speak for their in home euthanasia service. But if you want a gentle, stress free, peaceful passing for your pet, stay away from them. I had an appointment scheduled, and they kept asking to come earlier - that should have been my first red flag and it felt like they were trying to rush things. Upon arrival, I was told my cat would be given a sedative to calm her and make her sleepy, but that it might make her sick, and the shot might sting. If you're a veterinarian who claims to care about animals and treat them like your own, and you know the sedative you're giving them will hurt, or cause them to vomit, why wouldn't you give them something for pain and nausea before you give them the sedative shot? If someone is paying hundreds of dollars to give their beloved pet a peaceful, gentle passing at home why would you not do everything possible to make everything as comfortable for the pet as you can? To make matters worse I wasn't even told to get ready for it, or get her ready. The man that accompanied Dr. Rivera snuck up behind my girl before either of us were ready, before I could even close doors, and gave her the shot. She made the worst scream I have ever heard her make as he jabbed her in her little arthritic leg and started running all over the house in fear trying to hide. It was horrible to watch and she almost fell down my stairs at one point in her terror. This is horribly unprofessional in my opinion, and then she started violently retching. Watching her vomit up the last meal I had lovingly fed her will haunt me forever. She was trying to get away while throwing up and losing the mobility in her hind legs, and then using her front legs to drag herself around to try to hide somewhere. I expected a peaceful transition, but was completely horrified and heartbroken. It was terrible and full of fear. I was able to pick her up and place her in her favorite bed, trying to calm her, but she never calmed. Her eyes were wide with terror and she was crying and hissing and trying to scratch everyone, and my sweet girl never so much as hissed at anyone in all her fifteen years. Dr. Rivera tried to tell me she had a rare reaction to the sedative, but I've since spoken with three different veterinarians and none of them have ever heard of anything like this happening. I can't help but wonder if whatever they "sedated" her with was a wrong dosage or something not meant for cats. The whole experience was terrible. She never calmed, and it was highly suggested I leave the room because they couldn't get near her to place her IV she was so terrified and I was crying my eyes out seeing my sweet girl suffer so much. They promised me that was all they would do - just place the IV - and now I have to live with knowing her last conscious moments were of me leaving her because they lied and gave her Propofol while I was out of the room (I had to ask later, they didn't even disclose this right after they did it). When I came back in, she looked like she was already deceased, and I can't help but wonder if she was. I'm especially suspicious of this because of how they rushed things - before I could even pick her up and hold her as I had wanted to do when she passed, Dr. Rivera injected her right there on the floor in her bed. I paid these people hundreds of dollars to come to my home so my pet could feel safe and loved and so I could hold her when she passed, and was robbed of all those things. I just wanted a good death for her, to spare her fear or pain and suffering, but instead these people caused her the most traumatic experience in her life, and at the end of it no less when you can't make things better. They also have left me with doubts, pain, and regret for the rest of my life. They didn't even have a basket to take her little body in - I sent her away in her little bed, as much as I wanted to keep it, because they were just going to wrap her in an old towel. My experience with Total Care was horrendous and has left me heartbroken and filled with guilt for what they put my sweet girl through. The fear and pain in her eyes will haunt me forever, as will the pain of knowing she lost consciousness without me in the room with her and died on the floor instead of in my arms or on my lap that she loved so much. It was absolutely awful and there was no "care" in their service whatsoever. Our pets are part of our family and deserve better than this. Next time, I will find a home euthanasia vet who is gentler and more understanding of the pet and me, and I suggest you do the same. read more

Dr Rivera and her team are absolutely amazing. We had a older dog with cancer and severe arthritis that hated the vet and would have to be sedated and muzzled just to be examined. We found total care and had them come to our house where he was comfortable and they were so kind and patient with him that he was able to be examined without added stress. We knew he was terminal and Dr Rivera always kept him comfortable with pain medication. When his time came they came to our house and we're so very respectful of our family and how emotional the loss was for us. Losing a pet is heartbreaking but they made it easier for us to go through and we can't thank them enough. read more

Dr. Rivera and her staff were amazing and had so much patience. My dog ended up getting really sick from exposure to raccoon urine and became super lethargic. The staff took their time with him and were very kind which was amazing because I was afraid I was about to loose one of my babies. This will become our regular vet from now on. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Called to have care for a facial abscess. Most likely need an antibiotic. Told after seeing my cat, would need to wait 3 days for diagnostic results, which of course adds to the cost. And at that time might direct me to see another vet. So now double the cost. My ferret had a bulging eye and I was freaking out and called everywhere to see if they could help and treat a ferret. No one answered or offered help except Total care she came the same day to my house and was so amazing and compassionate. When the meds she gave me was not helping the problem she was quick to go over my other options and potential causes. I met her at her office to grab the new meds. We originally had a C-section schedule for my dog, today, 2/28/22, Monday. We discussed on the phone that if she goes into labor earlier than Monday -- then they would have a nurse on stand by, for the weekend. So Friday I give them a call and she sends me the address and confirms that the nurse will be on standby. Saturday comes, 2/26 and I see my dog trying to nest, so I give them a call...blowing their phone up for an answer. I get a call 3 hours later, in which I thought was a sigh of relief but then i was told "we have another business we run" so they couldn't take care of my baby. In July of this year, I was in need of a mobile vet service to euthanize my 15-year-old pet and best friend Baxter. Baxter was my life and this was an emotionally difficult time for me. I received contact information for Total Care Mobile Veterinary Practice (hereinafter "Total Care") from a friend of mine at the gym. My friend had used their services to put down a couple of cats. I decided to entrust Total Care with my needs and made arrangements to put Baxter down. I thought it would be best for Baxter to be in his own calming, loving environment. Total Care was originally scheduled to come to my home on Thursday, July 29 2021 but my girlfriend was not in town yet and a good friend of mine was not able to make it on that day due to their schedule. Therefore, it was determined that the appointment was going to be on Friday. I called Total Care and spoke with a relatively pleasant lady on the phone and she said no problem, just call Friday morning. I called Friday morning and scheduled services for Baxter at 3:00 p.m. I got a call around 2:30 p.m. on Friday from Total Care and the lady on the phone basically said "I'm really sorry Mr. Link, but we are running behind schedule and are not going to be able to fit your dog in today at 3:00 p.m.". Then she followed up again stating she wasn't even sure she could schedule us for the weekend. My response was "Really? You are calling me a half hour prior to the appointment to cancel"? She replied "yes" so I just hung up. I then called back about 20 minutes later and left a voicemail stating that I will post negative reviews on their Website and write letters to ever vet I know informing them about the poor service I received. Fortunately, my vet had a cancellation at 3:30 p.m. I then got a call back from a very irate, unprofessional man from Total Care yelling at me about how I threatened his staff. I assure you I didn't threaten anyone. This man, Derek Gosciniak, said "we recorded everything and it's crybabies like you we don't like dealing with". He then made a derogatory statement about my dog and additional offensive comments about me. I have lived in Colorado Springs almost my whole life and I can honestly say that I have not dealt with anyone as unprofessional as Derek was on the phone. As a result of the way I was treated, this will be the last mobile vet service I use. Under no circumstances should someone have to experience what I went through. My experience with Dr. Rivera is amazing!! My very first experience was with my English mastiff Sadie. The visit was a home visit. Sadie was a senior dog and in a lot of pain. She also had paralysis of her hind legs. My family and I decided it would be best for her to have a peaceful passing at home. Dr Rivera and her team were very caring and I can never thank them enough. Most recently, today Dr Rivera performed a surgery on my baby iguana. It went very well. My iguana is recuperating from today's procedure. I highly recommend Dr Rivera!! read more
