I'm so glad I found this place on yelp. My fiance rear ended someone while driving our new Lexus, which is only less than a year old. Our insurance company tried to lure us into using their auto body shop with their lifetime warranty gimmick. I wasn't buying it and didn't trust them. I took my car to my Lexus dealership hoping for them to take my car in. Turns out, they don't have a body shop. They did give me a brochure for a body shop that they work with. Now, the Lexus is brand new and it was our first luxury vehicle that we worked hard to get. I wasn't just about to take it to any random body shop, even if it was recommended by Lexus. So I did some research for reviews and found that the place Lexus worked with had bad to mediocre reviews. Through research, I also found that all body shops recommended by surrounding Lexus dealers had horrible reviews and ratings! So, I started looking the other way and tried to look for a place on my own. There were probably only 2-3 places that really stood out. Most of the places had maybe one bad review, except for TPA. It was also located on the way to work. So I trusted my guts and made the call. I found out quick that this was a small business (family owned and family run). The whole process from start to finish was extremely smooth. When I came in to see the place and meet them, I had this sense of "welcome" and "trust" and "honesty". That vibe got me good and I felt real safe about leaving my car with these folks. You ever take your car to a shop to do work on your car, not knowing what to expect and feeling uneasy about how honest they'll work? I didn't get that from this place. I felt safe and so did my fiance. We made our arrangements and from start to finish, they took care of every single thing that I didn't want to deal with. They set up the car rental so that the rental car would be there for me before I dropped off my car for them to work on. They took care of all insurance related issues for me. And the best part of any business is the extra step... some people know this as the "plus 1". The step that exceeds expectations. If you can't drop off your car or if you can't pick up your car, they will gladly go out of their way and pick it up or drop it off for you. That's going the extra mile, literally. They had my car for about 11 days, which I thought was pretty impressive. Not as impressive as their communications with me. While they had my car, they updated me every couple days on the process and what was going on. It was such reassurance to me and every time they did that I kinda smirked and felt smart about choosinf them. To be honest, everytime I received a text, I went to my fiance and bragged about what a greag decision I made by taking the car there. What I really really like about this place also, is that they used all original parts for my car. No aftermarket toys, no refurberished (check spelling)... Everything was 100% new and original. I'm highly recommending this place to everyone. I don't care if you live in NJ, Delaware, PA... If you care about your car and you want the best quality work on it, whether it's body work or mechanical, take your car here. You will not regret it. read more

This is the first 5-star business that I wholeheartedly agree is deserving of 5 stars. Chris and Lisa were amazing - very professional, courteous and attentive. They makes you feel like you are their only customer! I got referred to Total Performance and SO glad I did! Both are eager to help you every step along the way. They have no problem making extra calls (even to get your car out of PPA), to getting a car rental delivered to you, at there drop off/pick up service, so you don't have to go out of your way. Great experience with Lisa and Chris. I had reached out to a few autobody places to have a car cleaned up for a trade in. No one came close to the value and professionalism that Total performance showed. After they saw the car was going to take longer than the initial quote, they offered me a ride home to make sure I was not waiting around aimlessly. When we returned to pick up the vehicle, we were taken aback by how different the car looked, as well as how good the price was. Chris and Lisa also took some time while things were finishing up to show some of the other jobs they were working on, and I have to say I was beyond impressed with how meticulous they are in making sure things are done right. I can't express how grateful we are for Lisa and Chris throughout my accident ordeal and dealing with the responsible party's strange insurance company. From start to finish, they went above and beyond our expectations. Lisa and Chris were very knowledgeable and transparent explaining everything in detail, the process, time frame, what to expect, etc... and Lisa took initiative to communicate with the other party throughout the experience to make sure things moved forward smoothly. Everything positive you may have heard about Total Performance Automotive is absolutely true. They are professional, they do great work, they strive for perfection, they are customer focused, they will pick your car up and deliver it back to you, they are great value for money spent. Just as important they are honest, operate with integrity and are responsive and easy to work with. They have now done work for us on 4 different occasions. Okay, so I'm not one to post reviews ever, but I had to with this place. My girl friend told me I could get our Chevy truck repaired at Total Performance, and a Total Disaster is a better name!! Once my boyfriend saw the paint work, he flipped out because of the texture (he called it 'orange peal', see photo). Once he showed me, now I can't stop seeing it every time I get in the truck. Sure, I use the truck to haul the horses from one place to another, but this is crazy. I was ready to forget about the way the guy at the shop treated me (I think he has problems with women), but I just shrugged it off. Now, the roaster comes home to tell the story. Too bad for me :(. Would never recommend this place to anyone, not even my enemy after what was done (or NOT!) to my car. I really thought YELP reviews were helpful, but I was wrong about that. Getting my Audi back, I figured all my troubles were over. Anyway, I get my Audi back, and take it to my mechanic in Conshohocken near my work, and no sooner did he get the car on the lift thing, he called me to look at what he found. He showed me that some welding was done and (not a car person myself), he told me it should have 'corrosion protection', and be painted. He also said that because it was on the frame rail, the repair was not safe. Since then, I had the thing fixed by a different shop, will never go back, and leave a review. read more

I had my Honda Civic repaired at Total Performance in November of 2012. It was the first accident I had been into in years, and it was very upsetting to me. Chris and Lisa put me at ease with their friendliness and competence. Their workmanship was fabulous and done in a timely manner. Their cost was reasonable, and even turned out to be slightly under the estimate given to me by my insurance company. I didn't use a rental, so it was very helpful to me that they picked up my car beforehand, and drove it back to me after the job was completed. What great service! I saw the comments made about Chris and Lisa's in Ambler and decided after briefly talking with Lisa that we go to Ambler from Philly to have it done. We are immensely happy with the job these two did. The place is immaculate, the service was personal and polite, and the end result is exactly what we wanted ! I noticed this shop had some negative reviews removed!! 1/02/2019 is when I had my car fixed, but we were sick and could not post sooner. Both Chris and Lisa are the rudest people I've met. Chris went out his way to belittle me about my concerns with the rear bumper and how it aligned. I took my car home, and the next day I see in the daylight how poor the repair really was. Yes, it was a small job, but I paid good money for the repairs. Lisa?! Wow, she is something else, like a wolf in the sheep's wool and right behind Chris and practically ran me off the lot with their attitudes! I went to Total Performance auto body shop, based on Yelp reviews. Newer to Montgomery County, in I went with high hopes, and a real bummer for me. I don't know about cars, and Chris at the shop seemed so kind, that is until I went to get my car after the work was reported to be done. Besides being a rude and condescending man to me (problems with women!?), the body was 'not right'. That is, once I got the car home for what was too long a time, and showed it to my neighbor, he showed me the front body parts did not line up correctly (see the photo). Chris and Lisa have provided our family with consistently superb service for over 20 years. The quality of their work is exceptional, their prices are reasonable, and they are extremely good to work with. Most recently, when our car was totaled, they helped me understand the process of working with the insurance company and how to negotiate with them to get a fair settlement. Despite their not making a cent off repairs (since the car was totaled) they spent more time with me than the insurance company did, just to make sure I was treated fairly. The guys here are very easy to work with and honest. I had a damaged front part on my Mazda 3 and they were very reasonable to work with and provided a quote in line with what I wanted. They worked with my insurance (who wanted me to go to another body shop who would put after market cheap parts) and negotiated on working to put genuine parts for the car. But before I could drop in for a repair, my car was totalled due to a deer hit. I highly recommend Total Performance. I had an 11 year old van with side door and panel body damage, and had multiple estimates to repair for over $2000. I had dropped collision and comprehensive, so was not covered by insurance. Total Performance provided an estimate for complete repair - that was lowest received, and then suggested a much lower cost option - through re-use of existing parts, including repair of door panels. My insurance company gave me a list of options, and said I could choose the repair shop that I wanted to go to; I choose Total Performance in Ambler, PA. From Phila, I made the drive, and WTH. Are there no good shops anymore?!?!. The paint job looks like someone painted in their back yard shop! And, when I asked Lisa to review the job with me, she pointed to Chris as if to say, 'talk to him'; and I did. What a condescending arse!
