The close of deer season, I began using my Stihl pole saw at the farm to trim away unruly branches. My pole saw began to run terrible so I take it to Total Power Products (TPP) as the farm isn't too far away.
I explained what was going on with it, and if the shop guys had time to look at the ON/OFF switch, that would be great. I called back two weeks later to check on it, and I was told "we're waiting for the new carb to arrive." So I called back the following week and I was told " the new carb came in, but it was the wrong one." Two more weeks go by and I call back. Yep, "the new carb came it but we can't find the ON/OFF switch anywhere, but we'll keep looking." One more week goes by and I call again. "Well I have a dealer in Asheboro that has it, I'm sending one of the guys to go get it." I call back another week later and was told "well, that dealer didn't have that switch." So I asked if it was ready? They said" yep, runs great, but you'll need to stop it by choking it down, by using the choke lever." They also said "we didn't charge you any labor as it took so long, just charged you for the carb."
So this is now the middle of April 2021, I go get it and put it in my shop. Last week I go to use it and the throttle handle is missing all but two of the screws holding it together, the tension/return spring is missing and the throttle lever will not budge. I called and spoke to Ronnie the next day, he told me "Ill have the shop guys round up those missing parts and I'll call you back in a day or so." Well that was two weeks ago.
So I called Stihl USA, ordered all the new parts...throttle cable, throttle handle, ON/OFF switch and tension/return spring. I took it to a certified Stihl dealer near me and I'm just waiting for the new parts to come to that dealer, to repair it.
TPP is probably good at some tings, and they've been fair to me before, but this time, I am truly disappointed with TPP from start to finish. They've lost my business from now on.. read more
