Lacking attention to detail in scheduling appointments via telephone call between me and your staff member on the correct month of December instead of November for my dependent son and daughter caused a major inconvenience in my children's academic online classes. Though Dr G was accommodating to see Ryan that late morning at 11am on 12/09/2020, she failed to inform me what really happened. The explanation occurred later that day after I tried to bring my daughter to her "supposed" 1400 hrs appointment with Dr G. Your staff member "thought" she gave me two appointments: one in the morning for Ryan and the second for Megan for 12/09/2020. However in reality she booked the two appointments in November not December. All of this was booked when I called this same staff member on the late morning of 11/27/2020. She needs remedial training and good counseling. read more

I was very impressed with the eye exams that were completed prior to seeing the doctor. I explained to the doctor what I wanted in regards to wearing glasses. She listened and we made a pair to accommodate my reading documents at my desk and my computer. Perfect! I was so impressed I had my husband have his exam done. They had plenty of options for an appointment. In looking at glasses, their clerk brought over a pair of sunglasses and popped the lens after listening to what my husband wanted. My appointment was at 330. Left work early and got there early and I was waiting for close to an HOUR. I left. They didn't even seem apologetic that they wasted my time. No consideration. I sort of stumbled upon this place one day when I was looking for a different optometry office. Turns out, they accept ed my insurance and they could fit me in for an exam right away. That to me says a lot about their willingness and ability to go out of their way and accommodate the patient. Everyone was very nice, pleasant and happy (and not in a fake way either). I had to wait about 5 minutes before they were ready for me. The pre-testing that was done was very thorough as I moved around the room from one station to the next doing various tests. When that was over it wasn't long before I was in the room for the main eye exam. Dr. Guiang was very nice and you could tell he knew what he was doing and what he was looking for to achieve the best results possible. I've been in eye exams where they rush through it but this was definitely NOT the case here. They had a decent selection of frames as well. I will continue to come here in the future. read more

I came here august 25, 2017, chose my glasses and was told they'd be here in 10 days. It is now September 7 and I still have not received them. When I called in they said my frames wouldn't be in til Thursday the 15th. That's over 3 weeks! Too bad that I had to file a formal complaint via the California State Board of Optometry today. On November 9, 2023, the clerk or optician who was tasked to put together the final cost and to enter a work order for the new contact lenses failed to contact Dr G on which prescription should be used. Upon contacting the front desk employee this morning around 10AM on November 21, 2023, the front desk employee revealed that there were multiple prescriptions in the medical database record for the patient. The clerk or optician on November 9, 2023 chose the wrong prescription when filling out the work order. On November 18, 2023, I received the contact lenses shipment via USPS. On November 20, 2023, the patient notified me of the discrepant prescription order. On November 21, 2023, I reached out to Mira Mesa Optometry and I notified the front desk employee of this discrepancy. The front desk employee has yet to contact me on the status of an expedited shipment. California State Board of Optometry complaint number 4202024000146 was filed. read more

I've been going to get my eye exams here the past few years. It is a bit pricey even if you have top, full coverage vision insurance (I somehow still pay about $75 out of pocket). But I guess the exams are more "comprehensive", supposedly as they also check not just vision but also for general eye health as well. With that said, that's pretty much all that I'd recommend here if I had to suggest anything. I actually tried to get glasses recently but to no avail. I attended their spring trunk show and had glasses ordered for myself, the hubby and stepdaughter. Their glasses took about 4 weeks to come in, and were not bad looking, but the lenses could have been made better (or they should have recommended polycarbonate). As for my glasses...I wish I could tell you how they turned out, but I actually never received them! After a month (that's what they had actually quoted for turnaround time!), I called them and they informed me it was back-ordered for another 3 weeks. I wouldn't even have known unless I had called them to check! So I waited another 3 weeks. Again, no call or email from anyone there to let me know where my order was. So I decided to come in to the office myself and ask. I asked for the office manager and asked for a refund and cancellation, as it had been 2 months and no sign of my glasses coming in at all and could have had glasses made elsewhere if they had at least called and gave me an update like a month ago, lol. She apologized and said she'd process my refund asap as well as call my insurance to take back their claim. I might go back for the exams but definitely not for glasses. My main issue was the lack of communication regarding my missing order. I've never ordered contacts there but probably won't after all this happening. read more

Came back for my yearly and have to say STILL the best providers office around! Maggie was amazing in getting me pre-tested (which included following COVID19 protocol) and finding me an amazing deal on my new glasses! I paid $100 for the frame, lens, & add-ons on a super simple, but sylish pair. Dr. Guiang is very thorough, but also works quickly. I had my contacts and glasses exams both done in about 20-25 minutes!!! & As I left, the staff all said goodbye to me in unison lol. Love it here!! read more

Worst experience with an optometrist. The sales person apparently sold us the wrong lenses, and then more than 10 days after ordering, were told they would need to upgrade our lenses for an extra $100. When I approved the upsale, they told me that they would be shipping the frames back to the lab and the 15 day waiting period would begin again. A month in, and we still don't have the glasses. I am so glad I left this optometrist. They are overpriced, rude, and unorganized. I have astigmatism in both eyes, and mentioned to the doctor that I wanted contacts last year. She proceeded to tell me that I don't want contacts and that they wouldn't work with my eyes. NEWSFLASH - they do! And they're totally fine, I love them. It took a full year and lots of convincing for her to actually let me even try them. I'm now getting them from a new doctor, with an accurate prescription at a much cheaper cost too. They also can never get your contacts order right and don't call about it when they say they will. Follow up is non existent here. They'll also keep you on hold forever. The worst experience in my life. I went to this optometry because it is close to my house. Usually I get my glasses at Lenscrafters or Costco but because of Covid I decided to go here. It started good, with a regular eye exam for computer glasses. The total for lenses and frame was very expensive but because my insurance covered majority of it I was OK with it. 3 weeks later I got my glasses and they were horrible. I could not see anything on my computer. Obviously the prescription was wrong. After a moth or trying to get used to them- as they suggested- I went back and asked to be re-examined. Of course the prescription was wrong. Dr. Guiang said they will send it to the lab for new lenses. I was told I should have them in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks I called, they could not find a record of it and said the person who was supposed to send it to the lab is out, they will call me when she gets back to work. So 3 days later they called me and said they called the lab and I should have the glasses in a week. I think they never sent them to the lab for rework. But anyway, I was waiting patiently again but when I did not her anything for 10 days, I called again. , they put me on 15 min hold and when they finally got back to me said they were shipped 2 days ago to just wait. OMG. I just hope those glasses will work for me because they were very expensive. I do not have money for new glasses again. I will NEVER go to this shop again NEVER EVER. The doctors are good. But I had a horrible experience ordering my glasses. I tested different frames and asked for the Longchamp octagonal glasses (Dec 2020). The trial/display piece had non-tinted glasses, and I asked to add tint (I pointed to a Salvador Ferragamo frame for color reference for the tint). I asked for the total price, paid my portion in full. One month later (Jan 2021), I call in to check if my glasses are in and they said it had arrived just that day. When I went to pick it up, they were the Ferragamo glasses. When I told them this wasn't what I had ordered, the senior lady at the front desk spoke in a very condescending manner and claimed that the octogonal glasses had never been on display and that I had ordered the Ferragamo one. I politely refused to accept the glasses, and they said I could come in on another day to talk to Rachelle, who original took my order. I went in the next day but the issue didn't get resolved. Rachelle later called me, was courteous and said she will see if she can get me the octogonal glasses (sort out with insurance, etc.). After months of slow back and forth via voicemails, I finally gave in, went to the store again and said I would settle for the Ferragamo IF what I wanted wasn't available , ( I was tired of the discussion, and just needed something to be able to see clearly while driving.). 2-3 weeks later(April 2021), I received a message saying my glasses were ready. When I went to pick it up, it was the Ferragamo (the one I DIDN'T want). I had given up and said I will just take that. But to pile on to the insult, they charged me an additional $29 for the tint and suggested that I had probably requested for the tint after placing the original order!!! I valued my dignity and time more than the money, payed the $29, and carried on without arguing any further. I am done with this place. They took advantage of my politeness to not only push the wrong glasses, but also charged me more for it!!!!! read more

They really make sure to follow their appointment schedule, as I literally did not have any wait time when I arrived for my appointment. Dr.Guiang explained everything very well, and from my past experience with eye doctors, he seemed the most knowledgeable. As someone with allergies that sometimes irritate my eyes, they were very understanding of which type of contacts I needed. They showed me options at different price points, without any hassle. I was even surprised that they let me leave with different types of lenses(enough to last over 3 weeks!!) to try before returning for a followup appointment. Then they want another $70+ for "fitting", so it'd be over $200 total. Not used to a "fitting fee." Never heard of one, never had one in the last 15 years of wearing contact lenses. Since my eyeglasses are falling apart on me due to clumsiness on my behalf. I decided to finally get my eyes examined for new glasses. I stumbled upon MIra Mesa Optometry while shopping nearby at Bed Bath and Beyond. To my surprise this optometry office exceeded my expectations. Dr. Guiang and his staff were informative and very helpful. Every step of the exam, they would give guidance on what they are testing for. Lucky for me, Dr. Guiang is a techie geek. His office has the most up to date equipment. One machine will take a picture of the back of your retina, while another will examine your peripheral vision. Not to mention, they also check your blood pressure since your eyes have blood vessels. Dr. Guiang truly takes the time to understand your needs. Since I am on the computer 10-12 hours a day. He understood i need a contact that would allow my eyes to breath more. Due to prolonged contact wear, he noticed a lack of tear production. So he gave me some drops to alleviate this problem. I love how his optometry office really takes the time to understand your eye health. After my exam, one of Dr. Guiang's associates helped fit me for my new glasses. As a fellow yellow, I lack a nose bridge. So glasses usually do not fit my face very well. They usually slide off my noise or they are too snug. I appreciate how helpful he was with fitting me for glasses without peddling the most expensive frames. He was like your best girlfriend you have that is brutally honest. He was super helpful with my selection process. After trying on literally 25 pairs, i was able to narrow down my selection to one pair that i truly will be happy with. The service at Mira Mesa Optometry is hands down the best vision care i have ever received. Please don't waste your time at those chain eye doctor offices. read more

I've been going to MM optometry for years and have seen several of the personnel changes throughout. What hasn't changed is their sense of professionalism and good customer service. Granted I only come here once a year and have only had a handful of experiences with them. However the staff is very accomodating at times. They often work with me when i'm on my absoluate last pair of contact lenses and hook me up with a trial pair after I order another box with them. Since I moved to Mira Mesa, I've been wanting to find a good optometrist! After some research, I came across Mira Mesa Optometry! They are located in the Mira Mesa mall, right next to Hallmark! Dr. Guiang and his staff are very friendly and courteous! BUT... I had asked to have my contact lenses mailed to me, yet they called me when they arrived to have me pick it up from their office =( Also, when I had made my appt, they didn't tell me about the dilation exam which takes about an additional 20 minutes to do. So, I had to reschedule the dilation for another day. When I went for my dilation, we did the exam and THEN I was told my vision would be a bit blurred for a few hours! They gave me some disposable shades to use as I drove myself home, but I was uncomfortable for half the day =( But, other than that, I like them. I'll be using them for awhile! I guess I know better for next time I place my contact order and/or get my eyes dilated =P read more

I come here for Dr. Blanc! I used to live in Mira Mesa and I came to this place because how convenient the location is! I found Dr. Blanc to be the right doc for me because how friendly and knowledgeable she is. She really made me feel safe and confident in deciding to go through the lasik procedure (they refer to a center in La Jolla and does all the post-op exams after). It is always a pleasant experience to come here for an appointment with Dr. Blanc. I do believe her schedule is every other day in the week so I always have an appointment on Saturday morning and I go shopping in the area afterwards :) Though I moved away to North Park, i still keep Dr. Blanc as my optometrist! TIP: Enter your cell phone number as a contact number and agree to accept texts from them. They text you reminders for appointments and when your contact lenses arrive. Excellent staff, comprehensive eye/ contact lenses exams, and a passionate, very knowledgeable eye doctor to boot! I've been very satisfied with this optometrist and highly recommend them. I had a hard time with the new trial lenses that were ordered for me, but with Dr. G's expertise and patience, he was able to find me a brand that fit me better. Super honest too! He helped me further compare brands by looking up the prices for each. Turns out the comfier pair was only $1 more per box than the brand that wasn't settling on my eye! Excellent how well that turned out. Love this new brand as they are so much more comfy than the ones I've been using for the past few year! The services here beat Walmart any day! As a side note, their contact lenses exam is a little on the pricey side ($120), but it helps to have insurance. :) Either way, I'd say to give them a try despite these possible setbacks. read more

Dr. Guiang is a wonderful optometrist! Two of my friends recommended him independently of each other. That was 10 years ago. I still see Dr, Guiang and so does my son. I would recommend him to you as well. If there is a slight concern or if I have any questions, he takes the time to explain things fully and always makes me feel like I am his only patient for the day. And finding a good doctor who actually takes the time to show a genuine concern for his/her patients can be hard to find these days. Regarding his staff, they are extremely helpful, they understand insurances & will resolve any issues you might have. I could go on for days how helpful they are. :) The selection of frames is endless (especially if you wait for their trunk show, twice a year). I've been coming here since I was a kid and it's always a great experience. The staff is very friendly and they never keep you waiting long when you have an appointment. I'm still on my parents health insurance and they made it extremely easy to do things through my parents insurance without having them come in with me. They also made it very clear as to what exactly is covered through my insurance and what I have to pay out of pocket so I knew what I was getting into before committing to new glasses, contacts, etc. read more

When it comes to eye care, Dr. G is the best! I don't think I'll ever want to change optometrists ever. Service up front is great and they're quick to deliver. Dr. G always has a smile and he's very caring with his patients. He gives us honest opinions and he gives us options that way we can choose for ourselves. I was in the office because I wanted to try daily contact lenses and I had told him about one of my contacts drying out after just using it for 5 days (they were monthlies) and he gave me a new pair for them! First time I have been here and it feels like a tightly ran ship here. Sign in, fill out some forms, and some nice assistants get you started pretty close to your appointed time. It's been only a year since my last eye appointment somewhere else, but the technology of the gadgets appears to keep improving. Following that, Dr. Guiang is a nice down to Earth guy. Ok, so let's face it, any Optometrist can have you look thru a lens and ask "One or two" and have you read the chart of letters. (although the 2 Drs who work here are nice, and I have seen them both). What i LOVE about this place is they have a GREAT selection of frames. I used to go to Sears and they pretty much just have black, brown, metal, ect... and for me that is super BORING! I love hot pink, teal, purple, ect.... I want to see frames by good designers that are fashionable. It is surprising, they are just in a little strip mall near the Vons and the Dollar tree, but they offer a selection you would see at a more boutique place. Oh and I didn't even mention the BEST part! They have Trunk Shows! So maybe you don't see the frames you want, well then at the Trunk Show they will have a few select designers who bring their entire collection. They have a big one every winter and sumer, and then they might have smaller 1-designer trunk shows from time to time. Now how do they stack up on cost? Well, I might not be the best to answer that question because I do have VSP Vision Insurance (which they take, yayy), so I do not have to pay for everything out of pocket. But the frames seem to run like $150-$300 depending on brand. I think tere are some cheaper ones too, but I tend to go for the fancy ones ;) read more

After my first eye exam through my optometrist at Sharp, I was told that my vision was 20/30 and that I should consider buying a pair of glasses. I scoured Yelp for reputable places to purchase a pair. I chose to go to Mira Mesa Optometry due to its convenient location near my workplace and the high ratings on Yelp. My review is based solely on my frame and lenses purchase here. The location is bright, clean, and quite spacious. I was greeted and helped by Victoria who helped explain my VSP benefits. For having VSP/Principal, I received a 20% discount off my purchase. Victoria was very helpful in picking out different frames for me to try on and gave me her honest opinion about what looked nice on me and what didn't. I was a little disappointed that they didn't carry Kate Spade, as that was what I originally was looking for. However, Victoria showed me several different frames with the same shape that I was looking for. Ultimately, I was torn between two different pair of Ray Ban frames. Another associate, Jesse, explained to me how the frame should fit on my face and helped me to choose the frame that fit perfectly on my face. I've been a patient of Mira Mesa Optometry for over 5 years and after my experience this past weekend, I've decided I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I have been continuing to visit them for my annual eye exam the last several years despite it being inconvenient now that I no longer work in the area. I really like Dr. Blanc, but the customer service is terrible. I have had to wait long periods of time before seeing the doctor for my appointment, paid ridiculous prices for glasses, and had to pay extra for a special contact lens exam every time despite wearing contacts for 20+ years. The final straw was this last time when I was turned away from my appointment after arriving 3 minutes late. This is no way to treat a long-time customer. I'll happily find a more conveniently located optometrist that actually cares about retaining its patients. read more

As I had never been to an Optometry in the US, I was a little skeptical initially. The only reason I came here is because it's the closest to where I live. But I must say I was impressed with their service. I was here for just a general eye exam for which an extensive checkup was carried out for about 20 minutes by one of their staffs. Later, Dr. Orlando also did a thorough checkup and was extremely friendly and patient in determining the symptoms. I am not entirely sure how it works without insurance, but since I had vision insurance from my employers, the visit cost was as low as $5. read more
