Mordialloc's Tour de Cafe is many a Beach Road cyclist's Mecca - hardly surprising given its location and name. It's a great spot to meet up with the gang, grab a mid-ride coffee or even to re-group if the Ks are too tough for some.
Off the main road in the Peter Scullin reserve, the Cafe's practically incandescent on the weekends thanks to the multi-coloured Lycra haze of the hundreds of cyclists who stop by.
Making the most of its perfect possie, the Cafe caters specially to cyclists with plenty of rails on which to hook bikes, freely available tap water for refilling drained bottles and easily accessible toilets around the back for ... well, you know what.
Coffee is good, plus there's bike fuel of all sorts from sports drinks to nutrition bars, lollies and muffins, and bananas for those who can't go anywhere with one tucked in the back pocket.
The seating is al fresco only, which is great when the sun's shining but encourages a short stop only when the weather's not so wonderful. Tables and chairs are scattered in the great outdoors, plus there's grass for those who miss out on a pew.
There's no bike shop element to this Cafe - at best a foot pump can be borrowed. But there's a bike shop just across the road if any running repairs are needed. read more
