The itinerary was excellent and none of the individual drives we had were over 45 minutes. We visited Caerleon, Tintern Abbey and Raglan Castle. Adrian was knowledgeable and provided excellent commentary at each site. We had the right amount of time at each stop. The lunch at Abbey Mill restaurant was pretty good as well. The tour lasted from 9-4:45. A fantastic day all around and well worth the £48 pp. we would definitely recommend See Wales for this tour!

The group we were with was fairly small and the van was comfortable, though the A/C struggled a bit. The trip was leisurely and the sites were interesting. I didn't realize just how large a presence the Romans had in Wales. We also saw Tintern Abbey which so very impressive as a ruin I can only imagine the impression it created when in use. Abbey Mill was pleasant and the walk along the river after lunch was very nice. Raglan Castle was interesting as well. It was an enjoyable day and Adrian worked hard to see that we were having a good time. I would definitely recommend them.

Although a tad pricey for a night out, it should be said how reliable and how nice Wow buses are…read more Wow will take a 16 seater from the valleys down to the city, i'm talking Cardiff for around about £160...which is pretty good. If there are less of you he can be swayed with the price as long as you don't behave like monkeys on his coach. (Can be more difficult than it sounds when your excited to hit the capitol.) All his drivers are dead nice and i f you say 1 o clock, that's when they'll be there. He's got several buses and has lots of contracted runs and because he's super reliable you need to book him way in advance. I'd recommend getting deposits of your passengers myself! Anyway, for a reliable, quite reasonable, efficient minibus service Wow is definitely your boy.

This is your best choice if you're around the Rhydypennau Crossroads area. This is a two-track station, where the platform closest to the main car-park offers train services up towards Rhymney, and the other offers services into the centre of Cardiff town and beyond to Penarth. This train station is very much no-frills. Although it does now have an electronic ticker to let you know the arrival time of the next train and where it's heading (just in case my instructions of which side is which weren't clear enough). Trains into the centre of Cardiff leave 15 minutes most and you'll also be in the centre within 15 minutes of departure. There's no ticket barrier here, so you can hop on the train without paying, though it is probably best to catch eye-contact with the conductor at some point during the trip into town because there are barriers in both Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street which you won't be able to get through without a ticket. The train conductor has a fancy box that produces the tickets that accepts cards nowadays so he's unlikely to accept any form of excuse for not being able to purchase one.

There are a small few car parks around which are mostly pay and display so have some change on you. The area boasts plenty of long walks and bike tracks and has plenty of quiet areas to sit and have a picnic surrounded by splendid view. We like to take our grandchildren as they can feed the ducks in the lake, after a walk they can play on the beach and then get an ice cream on the way home. It has turned into a vibrant area now which has a fab atmosphere on a nice summers day.

I remember it being built but only visited it for the first time today. The information centre is a great place for leaflets about local attractions and the staff behind the counter are helpful and knowedgeable. There is a small shop too with some clothes, books and gifts. There is a side room with a large relief model under glass of the whole area. Upstairs is Flanagan's Cafe which is a bright and pleasant place to sit and have a snack and drink. (There is a lift as well as stairs so accessible to all) The coffees were excellent. My only criticism would be that the staff could be friendlier and more welcoming - and more attentive too - we clearly asked for cheese and pickle sandwiches but cheese and onion were brought to the table! Outside (but attached to the same building) is an ice cream kiosk.

For a long time you had to kind of fend for yourself here, but now at rush hour they actually have people helping out and employees and what not. It's literally right in the middle of a development of housing, and surrounded by businesses and whatnot which is pretty cool. In fact when you pull up here you will notice that a little shopping center is right next to it - although you have to kind of cross a bridge and walk back down to it. But it's good for your cheap shopping if you need it. They've also made some colourful admissions to some of the buildings here. I meant additions, but maybe they've admitted stuff to the buildings too?

Cathays Railway Station basically has no facilities except a ticket office (manned part time) and a…read moreself-service ticket machine, but the good thing about it is that it's in a safe, residential area where you won't feel threatened hanging around waiting for a train. It only gets busy on the platforms during peak travel times when people are using this line to get to and from the Valleys in one direction, and to and from the city centre in the other direction. It's very convenient for anyone working or studying at the University, which surrounds the station, or for those living in Cathays, as it offers a good alternative to a taxi if you want to get into town quickly without the walk - particularly if you have heavy bags to carry.

I'm not sure where the minor station is, but this is a little station with a cute white bridge going over the platforms. It's 18 miles from Cardiff in the direction of Swansea. It was one of the five oldest stations along this line, and dates back to a distant time. It's cute and kind of in the middle of nowhere, but good for the people in this town.

Managed by Arriva Trains Wales, the Llantwit Major railway station is located on the Vale of Glamorgan line and is definitely more modest compared to hubs like Cardiff Central, with only two platforms and no ticket office (which means no penalty if this where your journey originated). The station in its present form was opened in 2005 following restoration on the section of line between Barry and Bridgend, and offers connections to stations in Bridgend, Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil. My only criticism is the lack of disabled access - the bridge connecting the platforms would no doubt be difficult for those in a wheelchair or juggling a pram and a small child. It's worth checking the website, as east and westbound services only run once an hour, Monday to Saturday, with services only running once every two hours on Sunday.

We only stopped in for afternoon tea, so this is a review of the restaurant, not of the hotel per…read morese. Afternoon tea was wonderful. There are two options: a traditional tea with a selection of both savory and sweet bites, including delicious Welsh cakes with clotted cream, finger sandwiches, and a good choice of teas. There's also a "gentlemen's tea" with gin and scotch eggs. Service was friendly and prompt. I would recommend reservations on weekends or busy seasons. We were able to get in without a reservation mid-week.

The Park Plaza Hotel is a truly phenomenal hotel! I spent almost a whole  week at this great hotel…read morevisiting friends across the pond. I was  upgraded to a  huge Executive suite and extremely happy with the size of the room and my  extras. The towels and robe was very nice and thick and the toiletries excellent  too.  I appreciated the hand-out Welsh cakes with soft drinks. The Location was  perfect and very central to the beautiful city. I made use of the beautiful spa  and spent time in the beautiful swimming pool. Which at my age, I don't usually  use do but no one was using either and I felt like royalty. Besides the  excellent service and stellar interaction with hotel staff, I ate many meals at  the Cardiff Plaza restaurant and every meal was perfect. Nothing where I live  compares to  this hotel and the city close-by where I live is supposed to have  the best stateside. Compared to the Park Plaza it's a joke. I put up many  visitors at the cream of the crop locally and was disappointed when I saw their  rooms. The Cardiff Park Plaza Hotel was also priced very good compared to the  same quality hotels stateside. I hopefully will live long enough to return to  the Park Plaza Hotel! If for any reason you find yourself  traveling within Cardiff 'Dinas a Sir Caerdydd' Wales, do yourself a great  treatment and let the mainly Welch staff and stay at this beautiful hotel! I can't say enough praise of the Park Plaza Hotel/Cardiff.

This bus station is found beside Heibron way (A48) in the town next to the Aberafan Centre…read more(shopping mall). There are local services from here to all the nearby towns and villages and the First Cymru buses run to Neath, Swansea, Bridgend and Cardiff. National Express coaches also go to Birmingham, London, and the larger towns further west within Wales. There are plenty of places to sit and wait inside the covered part of the station and toilets there too.
