I came here with…read morea group of friends and figured a nice, relaxing day trip would be a nice way to check out the remote Dingle Peninsula. The price was a steal, if you have even a small group you can more than likely do the trip without being saddled with random strangers on a regular bus tour for about the same cost. The very punctual bus was a nice Mercedes 15 passenger bus with cushy leather captains chairs, a mini fridge and massive windows so you could take in all the scenery. Our driver was the BEST!!! He was so knowledgeable about the area, it's history and random trivia factiods. He let us dictate where we stopped, how long we stayed, gave us tips for places to check out in the various towns and stopped at many scenic overlooks for the shutterbugs in our group. Even on the ride back he didn't seem to be overly concerned with having us back to our house by the official end time of our tour. I would totally and completely suggest J.O'Callaghans for any type of tour of the area!!

It worked out OK for us as it was drizzling when we started but we got quite a bit of time with no rain during our Just over an hour tour. Now because it was off-season, we were actually the only ones on the jaunting cart and so I really had our own private tour which was amazing. Maybe it was less amazing for Michael who had to answer strange questions for my six year old. Lol. The cart takes you through Killarney national Park, which is really lovely and we saw so much wildlife, especially Deers, which was really cool. We rode all the way up to Ross castle and although it is closed for the season, Michael gave us 10 minutes to walk around and get some photographs . Michael was full of great information and answered all of our questions. It was really a lovely experience and I would highly recommend it. We booked our tour online in advance and were picked up at the great southern hotel. Our horse was Queenie and she was beautiful.

We visited at the end of the season, so it was quite a chilly 1.5 hour boat ride, but the views were spectacular. The hike took us ~3 hours to complete but was on a paved path. Again, amazing views. They will also arrange a jaunting car for an additional fee should you wish to take that rather than walk. We were driven to Ross castle, where we took the boat ride to the trail head, then were picked up from Kate Kearney's cottage and driven back to Killarney. A very full, but very fun day!

Park was lush and green and surrounded 3 lakes. We hiked to MuckRoss house (didn't take the paid tour), the Abbey, and Torc Waterfall. Lots of history. Torc waterfall was quite a distance away, you'll pass a botanical garden that is gorgeous. Upon arrival to Torc, you'll have access to a variety of either strenuous, moderate, or mild hikes. We chose the tourist route for pics and easy access to the waterfall. A decent size waterfall and worth the trek. Lots of tourist buses park here. Many horse carriage rides available in the park. Not a supporter of that business. But, you'll see beautiful cows grazing the pastures near the MuckRoss house . All in all , we hiked approximately 10 + miles that day! Always be prepared for a little bit of rain and wind. Bring water or a picnic lunch : )

We made a great choice picking the Gap of Dunloe Traditional Boat Tours. They are one of the oldest…read moreboat companies and to offer boat tours of the lakes of Killarney. It appeared to be another company that is family business that is handed down through the years to the next generation. The boat was comfortable and everyone was required to wear a life vest. Safety was acknowledged and routinely insisted on. We met our tour guide at Lord Brandon's Cottage. He was a very friendly gentleman with a great sense of humor. He had the entire boat laughing our way around the lakes. It was a beautiful day on the lake and we learned so much about the history along the way to our drop off point. We had to postpone our reservation and Mike was very accommodating and friendly, setting us up with a reservation the following day. He picked us up at the hotel and took us for a leisurely ride through the national park, offering information on the environment, wildlife, and local history.
