They are surrounded by forestry plantation and composed mainly of quartz which explains their glittery appearance when seen at close quarters. One of the stones has been split by frost. Not far from the village of Kingarth, drive south along the A844, soon turning left onto a B road which runs down the centre of the peninsula. Continue along here until you see a signpost on the left pointing towards a forest track (it's possible to park here at the side of the road). The stones are found a short distance along here on the right on the edge of the Blackpark Plantation (hence the name of the stones). Despite this, you can still see and feel the style and distinction at the heart if it. The graceful features if this stately place still comes through if a bit weathered. Some modern distractions spoil it a bit but I love to wander the platforms and see the beauty in the architecture of this place. Most people see it as the station where the trains stops and the ferry starts but maybe next time, take a another look and enjoy it.

Beautiful curling platforms and glass pannelled ceilings, supported by strong green coloumns and housing a number of quaint shops, including a bookshop, cafe and pub, it is no wonder the station has won numerous design awards. If you are travelling through Wemyss Bay by train, or it is indeed your final destination, there is a point on your journey down the tracks that you get one of thee most spendid views of the Clyde estuary. Just as the train starts slowing down before it reaches Wemyss Bay, make sure you're on the side of the train closest to the water and enjoy spectacular views of the hills of Arran, Isle of Bute and down onto Millport - a beautiful sight fitting of a beautiful station

A last minute booking on the Thames cruise aboard the Waverley. What a magnificent sight was this…read morepaddle steamer berthed by Tower Bridge. Quick cup of coffee, as we were early, before boarding. Even though there 'seemed' a load of people, space was no problem. Plenty of places to sit either on deck or below. The experience started at 9.30 am. As a tug turned this great steamer around and then we were off. Can't beat seeing that great London Tower Bridge being raised. Passing underneath with a courteous blast to say thank you. The trip along the Thames was so interesting and supplemented by the descriptions and interesting facts across the ships speakers. Arrived, dead on time, at 1.30 at Southend pier for our break before returning. Bars and dining rooms were always busy but never a long wait. Why rush anyway. Interesting, as the sun went down, to see the lights along the river. A river I was bought up along all my life and the changes are outstanding. The finale, a lit up Tower Bridge opening. A fantastic day out. Looking forward to seeing The Waverley next year for another, maybe different, cruise. Finally, Thank you to the Captain and all his crew. Everyone worked so hard to make our day special.

ABANDONED. DANGEROUS COMPANY!…read more 70 people including elderly, disabled and children abandoned in Minehead after an organised trip off the boat. All left for over 2 hours with no contact from the boat after a coach failed to pick everyone up. We're then left to find own way back to Penarth from Minehead at own cost. Absolutely disgusting, traumatising and dangerous. This company should not be allowed to run! Do not book!

It's close to the O2 Academy, and on gig night, this place is heaving. Otherwise, it's a pretty quiet stop, pretty small too. There's a bus stop right outside here with plenty of buses running down here like the 45 if you are heading to a gig and dont want to fork out more money for a tube ticket on top of your bus ticket. Plenty of parking space here too.

Indeed the difference this has made to my quality of life has been astounding. No longer is there scrapping with fellow dreary commuters for the last Metro in the stand to brighten up the slog into work. Gone are the days of worrying about a quite colossal rumbling of the stomach interrupting a meeting, as I forget to have breakfast and leave myself with no options en route. And no more is the wait for the train enough to make you want to throw yourself in front of it, as time is spent reading the front covers of magazines I'd be too embarrassed to buy otherwise. And to be fair, Hyndland Train Station has always been one of the better ones on the local line circuit. Hidden just off Novar Drive, access to the station comes via a long tunnel which has been loudly decorated by the children of Hyndland Secondary School (all of whom must be hitting 40 soon, given the mural first appeared in the 80's). The people of Hyndland simply couldn't cope with the lack of facilities afforded to, for instance, the people of Yoker and Kilpatrick so needless to say there's a heated ticket office complete with a generous number of seats, both inside and outside. Proper seats as well, not those benches which resemble a football crossbar and ensure a numb backside for the length of your journey. The addition of a kiosk has unquestionably made Hyndland one of the best non-interchange stations on the line and if there's anywhere you are likely to see a commuter crack a smile, it's here. It's quite a busy station for such a small one and is served by all services on the Argyle Line and North Clyde Line. From here it's easy to get to the centre of Glasgow, Edinburgh Waverley (although via a slightly slower route and it may be better to change at Partick), Balloch, Dalmuir, Helensburgh, Milngavie, Hamilton and on and on. The station has a small, indoor waiting room on the platform as well as a few outdoor benches. The waiting room has a staffed ticket office but there's a machine as well for those hours when no staff are available. There's also a small coffee kiosk on the platform which sells coffee, tea, small snacks and newspapers. The underpass that leads to the station has a 45 meter long tiled mural with a train theme that was created by students at Hyndland secondary school in 1990.

There have been plans to re-build, move or upgrade it since 1998, presumably this will be one of the first stations due for an upgrade after the current work at Queen Street Station is finished. There's a small car park and some bike stands for the station and self service ticket machines are available for when the station isn't staffed. The two platforms are accessible by wheelchair and are connected with a footbridge (and presumably lifts). There's a little seating and some waiting rooms but not much else. It's a very convenient station for getting between Anniesland and the Glasgow City Centre, especially since both Jordanhill and Anniesland stations are currently experiencing reduced services because of the Queen Street Station works. It's also handy for the University of Strathclyde's Jordanhill Campus.

However if there was an award going for handiest resource for Jordanhill residents, it'd probably make the top three. Two platforms, a ticket machine (no counter) and a little sheltered area, it's OK and offers four services an hour to Dalmuir and the same to Glasgow, going on to Motherwell and Springburn. Most importantly, the area is safe given its close proximity to Crow Road. It's not completely dull; I once recall a local paper reporting that an article for Wikipedia on the station was the 1,000,000th English entry on the website. I guess every dog has its day.

The train station is dirty but the coach seat was perfect and clean once on the train. The passengers and workers were extremely friendly and helpful, making for a great, safe and comforting trip. The boarding process was quick and easy, especially with luggage. Although we had to carry our luggage up 1 stair, the train wasn't sold out so there was plenty of room for our many bags.
