On this occasion, Town Supervisor, Rebecca Edwards and her team with the support of the Senior Center team hosted another informative community resident discussion. I'm impressed by this Town administration's ideas to improve the lives of the residents. My town taxes are a good value under this leadership.

Covid screwed a lot of places where you HAD to be seen in person. So far so good. No horror story to tell.

As far as USPS goes, this one isn't all bad. It's a bit out of town, limited parking, trucks…read moreturning around and idling and it can get busy - but the staff is cordial and professional helping old ladies and young bucks, all in one line. The postal boxes are clean.. there's a table to do your mail business and work. Trash bins. Pens. Scissors. Pamphlets and all the mailers you can shake a roll of stamps at. Double doors make this location a quick alternative to other slow poke places where the line is out the door. Another bonus is that this USPS building is at the crossroads of major thru highways and roads. That way managing things you may have forgotten to mail or need to go home to fetch and send out, is a half-way back trip only. Never had an issue. I was shocked and dismayed that a police officer would contact me about an online review. I consulted an attorney in my area and was told it is perfectly legal for anyone to write a nonviolent and truthful review online.  Reviews are protected under the First Amendment. I did file a written complaint with the New York State Police regarding the harassing phone calls I received from this police officer.

This marker is located in the parking area of the Stormville Rest Area on I-84. I was at the…read morewestbound rest area so it's possible that there is a matching marker at the eastbound rest area across the way. The marker is a bit chipped and faded. The marker reads, "Fishkill was a center of civil and military operations during the American Revolution. New York State's first governing body met in the village's churches during 1776-77 and drew up the first state constitution. "South of Fishkill, centered in the Van Wyck homestead was the largest American army supply depot in the north. Relatively safe from British attack, the Fishkill supply depot included dozens of buildings, shops and warehouses. Its strategic location at the hub of transportation made possible the provisioning of American forces operating over a wide region. The depot also served as a staging area and winter encampment. Washington, Horatio Gates, and other important military leaders were associated with the supply depot and Enoch Crosby, the alleged model for the hero of James Fenimore Cooper's novel, The Spy, was interrogated at the Van Wyck house and imprisoned in a hatter's shop in Fishkill." The marker was erected in 1974 by the New York State Education Department, the New York State American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, and the New York State Department of Transportation.
