At any rate, the view is fantastic from the bridge, and there is a walking trail where you can take gorgeous photos of the surrounding area. By the way, there is no "swing" in the Swinging Bridge. The original swinging bridge was replaced with a permanently fixed bridge after being damaged in the 1965 flood.

Beautiful view of Yosemite falls in the background I believe. Was able to walk down to the water which was shallow and had some ice in it. The kids had fun playing around in the little beachy area. There are restrooms here but my husband said it's those port spotty styles with a hole in the ground. I didn't even want to attempt it. Luckily we drove maybe 5mins out to base camp eatery (Yosemite valley lodge) and use the rest rooms there.

Around every corner it's an astounding picturesque view and with the nice strong winds that are blowing today it just gives you that nice breath of fresh air while hiking. Get a cabin and just relax. It's a good getaway from the big city. You won't regret it. You get to see all the wild animals. Some even come down to your cabin. Just have your camera or cell phone ready to take pictures. Watch out that some of the animals don't use you as food. I wonder if there's Bears out here??? Definitely a place I would come back to

The lake has so much history and is surrounded by mansions and resorts. It's about 2 hours drive around the lake. I enjoyed the sightseeing. It's one of the places that many people from CA go for vacation, a short drive from Reno. I recommend putting this place on everybody's bucket list place to see in the US.

There's trails, horses, Grant Lake, Silver Lake, Gull Lake, campgrounds, and a very nice drive. Our first stop is always to say hello to all of the horses and mules. We park on the side of the road and pet them. Next, we stop at silver lake since there's some parking spots. We like to walk across the street to the lake and watch the ducks. Some people like to pull up at reverse creek but stay safe crossing! It's just a great scenic route for something to do and see.

Make sure you stop at the beautiful (and historic) Mono County Courthouse on Main Street. Then walk behind it and check out the creepy old jail building (free/open to explore). Both are definitely worth the stop! We stayed at the Redwood Motel which was affordably priced and very clean and comfortable (with friendly service). Saw a few restaurant options in the area. I love, love, LOVE all the small towns along the 395. This is a great spot to stop for gas,…read moresupplies, restroom breaks and decent food. There's also a fantastic little downtown area that frequently holds events on the weekend. There's so much to do here and they always seem to be doing something fun. If you're planning on touring the Mammoth, Bodie or Twin Lakes area, this town is a must for stopping. The gas stations are equipped with RV dump sites and water fill-ups, and the downtown area has plenty of sporting goods stores where you can stock up on fishing and hunting supplies. Right in the heart of downtown is the CHP office. The people seem friendly, so you're in good hands here. I'm so glad I got to stop here myself and see it firsthand -- it has the most amazing views of the Sierra Nevada, with rolling fields that stretch for miles. It's a peaceful little town. I can't wait to come back and try some of their restaurants and maybe explore it a bit more.
