We love driving out here to visit our friends. This town is small and quaint with some scenic mountainous roads. It's adjacent to Tuxedo, where they host the Renaissance Faire. We most often would drive out here in the winter months and even with the snow on the ground the streets are very well-maintained; so much more so than South of the Tappan Zee. There are cute little shops in town and the residential parts have some beautiful farm-like homes, nestled into the wilderness. With each visit, we feel like we've transported ourselves to some other place because it is so tranquil. Definitely one of our favourite drives. read more

The town of Monroe is a quiet little place tucked near the Appalachian Trail and the Catskills. In the Hudson River Valley, it's a place of beauty, especially in the autumn when the leaves turn red&gold. With its bumpy, sometimes one lane roads, its deer herds, and its silent pond in the center of town, it calls to mind mystical experiences. There are Hasidic Jews from nearby Kiryas Joel&missionary sisters in full habits meeting at the local post office. It's no wonder upstate New York was part of the Second Great Awakening of the 1800s. This town is corrupt!!!!! The town gave all rights to people who do not derserve it ! It's starting to look like Staten Island and the taxes are so high and the town will only catering to the one group . They are tearing up the land !!! Very crowded !!!! Jerseys more cleaner and affordable. Please do your research before even thinking of this move !!! Monroe ny in Orange County and surrounding areas SHAME ON YOU All !!!!! The best part most of them don't even live here they live in nice houses elsewhere!! I've been here 20 years and you will find others who feel the same !!! This is my opinion!!!!!
