In 2025, Alison Krauss and Union Station were touring (no Vancouver dates, sadly), and it was an excuse to finally go to Boston. I went with my sister and husband and we were in Boston for a full week, flying in on Saturday September 13 and flying out on Saturday September 20, 2025. (Yeah, I am behind on reviews!) We stayed in Sonder Pierce Boston, a luxury condo-style hotel near Fenway Park. We arrived the evening of September 13, so all we did was go to the nearby Target to purchase some groceries and grab dinner at Time Out Market, which was across the street from our hotel. Sunday September 14, our first full day in Boston, we went to Boston Common and walked along the Freedom Trail. We went to the Granary Burying Ground and passed by the Old City Hall and Boston Irish Famine Memorial. We had lunch at Hub Hall, walked through the New England Holocaust Memorial, had a drink at Durty Nelly's, walked through the Paul Revere Mall, stopped at the Old North Church for a bathroom break, walked along the William Felton "Bill" Russell Bridge, and saw the USS Constitution. Monday September 15, we walked around the financial district, stopping for some gluten-free donuts at Kane's Donuts, and had lunch at James Hook & Co. We walked along the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway and the Long Wharf, went to the Boston Public Market where we had a cider flight from Red Apple Farm and bought several bags of yummy nuts from Q's Nuts. We had a drink at The Bell in Hand and walked through Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market where we had a drink and quick bite to eat at Ned Devine's. We went to Boston Public Garden where we saw the "Make Way for Ducklings" sculpture and had dinner at Faccia a Faccia. Tuesday September 16, we walked around the Harvard Medical School campus which was near our hotel and walked over the Boston University Bridge into Cambridge. In Cambridge, we walked through Fort Washington Park, had lunch at Miracle of Science Bar and Grill, went to Pandemonium Books and Games, and visited Harvard University. At Harvard, we saw a free exhibit on Edward Gorey at the Houghton Library and the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments. We had dinner at Eventide and went to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Wednesday September 17 was the night of the Alison Krauss concert, so we stayed close to our hotel during the day. We went to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, walked past the Back Bay Fens, and had lunch at Time Out Market. While my husband spent the evening relaxing at the hotel, my sister and I had dinner at Legal Sea Foods Harborside before going to the Alison Krauss concert at Leader Bank Pavilion. Thursday September 18, we went to Salem by boat with Boston Harbor City Cruises. We went to the House of the Seven Gables, had lunch at New England Soup Factory, stopped for a drink at Village Tavern, went to the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, Charter Street Cemetery, and Salem Witch Museum. We shopped at Black Cat Curiosity Shoppe and Wicked Good Books, and had dinner at Turner's Seafood. We then spent the evening further walking around Salem, stopping for drinks at East Regiment Beer Company and Far From the Tree Cider. Friday September 19, we spent the day walking around Boston. We went to the Massachusetts State House, Commonwealth Museum, and walked along the waterfront. We browsed in Brattle Book Shop, stopped for lunch in Elephant and Castle and Union Oyster House, and went to Boston Public Garden again before going Trader Joe's. Saturday September 20 was our last day in Boston. Our flight was at 7pm, so we had time to see more of Boston. We saw the Boston Massacre Memorial, had a drink at Margaritaville, lunch at Legal Sea Foods - Long Wharf, walked through the Central Burying Ground in Boston Common, and walked through Boston Public Garden. The roots of Boston go as far back as the Puritans looking for their new home . Many early settlers made their way here because Salem, Mass was too crowded. Then the battles with water shortages, disease, sanitation, and culture theory were a few things that they battled and then figured out . What's not to love here? The people of this great city generate love and happy as you admire the beauty all over the place. The rich history here is at every turn. Now the best way to see and celebrate this city is to walk . The traffic here is so bad. So get out and enjoy the surroundings of a new place. Those who are here, how it has changed from a book. When we visited every other corner a "protest was apparent." It was controlled and peaceful too. The individuals that wanted to voice their opinions did not riot or make others feel uncomfortable. We were asked to join in but we were on a time limit. We were not afraid to walk around the city and see what Boston was all about. The roots of religion and culture surrounding the holy word were ingrained into the ancient traditions of the founders. In fact they wanted to keep and create a controlled environment where religion and the people were allowed to exist is certain boundaries. If you violated these rules you could be punished. Even shunned. It was not anyway but the religious way that was dictated. One great example of this religious ideology was the belief to educate the people. The higher institutions of thought were created. In fact it still stands today. It's the school of Harvard. Now let's move forward to the new age of social media and how we see the world. It's the year 2026, let us not waste our time for the individuals of Boston are truly progressive. In fact all is protected! Whatever form of love you choose it's great? In fact it was the first city to guarantee equality for all in 1989. The idea of marriage passed for same sex couples in 2004. Why is this important, it's not but the idea of hope and "getting along," exists here . Remember love, in whatever form wins!

Downtown Providence is my favorite City; maybe I'm biased because I was born there. As a teenager, I loved taking the city bus to the Providence Place Mall, then hanging out at the Waterplace Park. Once I was in college, I would frequent Thayer St., the East side, and Wickenden St. often. I was always hanging out with my friends, at one of my favorite dive bar/club, Club Hell; they had 80s nights on Tuesdays, goth nights on Wednesdays, and Rock & Roll nights on Fridays. Providence is definitely a foodie city with tons of good eats. On a warm day, just take a walk around; lots of history and beautiful architecture. The new pedestrian bridge is also a lovely addition. There are many events that goes on, Waterfire is a popular one. It is home to some notable colleges such as Brown University, Providence College, Rhode Island School of Design, and Rhode Island College (my alma mater!) If you go to Federal Hill, there are some good restaurants and bars; home to the best Italian food. If you want to be one with nature, go to Roger Williams Park and Zoo. Overall, definitely a fun little city and gem in my eyes.

(see…read moreBoston RMV review) I'm not exactly sure that the Cambridge City Clerk's office is normally a high traffic area, but as I understand it, anything having to do with the city or state requires a minimum 2 hour wait and donation of your non dominant hand's pinky finger. We were there to get a domestic partnership (not a marriage. Lets be clear) because since Health insurance is required now (gripe mumble gripe) well you know. Anyway, since my company is national, they offer health benies to domestic partners. Thus we found ourselves at City Hall. We walked in. No Line... We were helped right away and with a smile..... We filled out the paperwork, raised our right hand, said we were telling the truth, and didn't have to show any documentation whatsoever........ We were in and out in 5 minutes. WHAT?!?!?! Not complaining, just baffled. The clerk also told us that our license/documentation or whatever would be in the mail tomorrow, but we'll see if that happens. So now we are happily partnered in domesticity, I didn't waste my entire day, we both have all our fingers and health insurance in case we do lose one. Sweet. EDIT: Our paperwork did indeed arrive that Saturday, and retains its 5 star rating.

The current city hall building was built in 1884 in a Gothic Revival architecture and actually served as the city's high school until 1951. It's right next to the library and there is paid parking behind if you have city business. There is also a Level 2 EV charger. The town is named after Colonel William Brattle, Jr. though there are no records that he ever visited the area. It is located in southeastern Vermont and borders New Hampshire.
