1st trip to Township: during the soft opening, our experience was lovely and food was really good. I was impressed by how smooth the operation was, especially considering it had just opened. I was also personally excited to have some veg & GF options. 2nd trip to Township: terrible overall experience, I will likely not return, which is unfortunate as I have grown up in this town, work in the town, and love to support small businesses. Today, my friend and I left feeling extremely unwelcomed and embarrassed. We came for lunch on a Monday with our three pups and her baby. Right as we were arriving, an older couple walked in behind us and said "ugh we definitely aren't sitting by the dogs" so they sat inside while we were out on the porch. Our three dogs (all under 30 lbs) are very friendly puppies, one two year old and the others one year old. After we ordered our food/drinks, we were enjoying the afternoon after a long walk and our dogs were being dogs, one of them barking occasionally as they watched traffic and people buzz by the front patio. We were about halfway through our meal when one of the staff members walked out and told us that customers inside were complaining about our dogs and as a part of their "Township policy" is that they don't allow "aggressive dogs" on the patio and unfortunately "barking" falls under the label of "aggressive." I responded by asking if she was telling us we need to leave because our dogs were simply being dogs, to which she just stared at me and walked away. No apology, no offer to pack up the rest of our food or an offer to allow us to finish our meal (I still had over half of my cider left, we both had half of our food left). So we unfortunately and promptly left (me, in tears). I'd also like to note that there was no warning of our dogs being disruptive, which they weren't, but a second chance would have been nice. A couple of takeaways: --For a new business who is very eager to market themselves as "dog friendly" on social media -- clearly you're not. So if you have a dog who barks occasionally (?) don't bring them to Township unless you enjoy being publicly humiliated in front of an audience of customers --As a business, you can't value some customers more than others. The other couple clearly didn't want us there as was made clear before they even made it to their table, and at the first chance, the staff took their complaint, and told us to leave -- the staff could have also reminded the other couple that they were a "dog friendly establishment" or you know, could have closed the door if the occasional barking was SO disruptive. **Update: After posting this review, Joleen called my friend and I separately to better understand our negative experience and to apologize. She took ownership of the incident and expressed what I believe to be genuine empathy toward us, especially after better understanding the whole scope of the incident. She shared that this experience will be used to train her team about their dog policy and to clearly define what "aggressive" behavior is, and invited us back -- it will honestly be a long time until I go back to Township, as the experience was so entirely uncomfortable and it sends my anxiety into overdrive, at the thought that my dogs will be expected to be absolutely perfect and silent in order to be welcomed here. My intent with this update, is to share that I do believe the owners have integrity and care greatly about their customers and the vision they have for their business. There are still kinks to work out, sure, but I have NEVER received a genuine phone call from a business owner who is looking to listen and make it right. read more

Great place to sit and socialize with friends. Vibe is local which is great. Local beers, wine and ciders. They make it efficient by self ordering and pay. That's how restaurants in Seattle do it and cities. yet has the local Sumner feel. Fries are an A+. Recommend they also have iced tea. read more

Wonderful kid-friendly spot! We frequently come here with our toddler and newborn. It is a great atmosphere and it doesn't feel like you are disturbing anyone by having your kids there. The service is very speedy and our toddler loves the pretzel and beer cheese! The QR ordering system took getting used to, but turned out to be a lifesaver when our toddler started having a meltdown and we needed to leave ASAP- just open the tab, input credit card info, and we were out the door 30 seconds later. The burger was great, the beers were frosty, and staff is super friendly. All in all, a fantastic place that Sumner desperately needed! read more

The outside deck is a great place to sit and have a drink on. There is a good food selection and wide range of drink options for beer to ciders and specialty cocktails. It's kid and dog friendly, nice addition to the downtown core. read more

We LOVE Township20! This is the breath of fresh air Sumner needed! The food is very fresh and flavorful. My daughter loved the ice cream sandwich and the pretzel app. I have had a few of the sandwiches and salads. Everything was great, but I'm a sucker for their fries with aioli. I really enjoy the booth, and patio (which was warm on a December evening)! Erin is an incredible manager. She offered to charge my phone for me when I showed up with 10% battery at the end of a workday. If you happen to be at Township in the winter- try the smores espresso martini...It's a 10 outta 10! read more

Only good thing about this place is ordering and paying with a QR code. Got our drinks quick but it took 40 minutes to get our food. I got the PNW sandwich and the chicken was super dry and there was a lot of the apple chutney making it too sweet. We heard about this place and thought we'd give it a try. It's a cute place and was very busy. The service on the other hand was not the best. There were mostly high school to college age servers which were not very attentive.The price of the menu items were all around $17 range and did not include a side such as fries. That was extra. I thought that was a little steep. We had waited a very very long time for our food well over 30 minutes. The food was ok , more on the bland side. We were forewarned that food ordered could be up to a 40 minute wait - which they were busy, and we were understanding of. I felt less understanding when that timeframe doubled with no communication from the staff. When I ordered another round of drinks (to accompany the food we finally received at that delay) they delivered a different tap than ordered with a "sorry we are out of that one" - no removal of a drink that I ultimately didn't order from the tab, no ask of what I'd want as a substitute. Really disappointed. This place has such great potential we really have been needing something like this in the area. I love the covered patio and the building is beautiful really. (We sat inside) However... our experience was very much a let down. Upon coming in there was no clear signage that this is. SELF SERVE AND SEAT YOURSELF. There was no clear self serve station, it looked more like a station for the servers to restock. I stopped someone and asked for water and was told it's "self serve" not given direction to where the station was but i figured it out. It was hot day and this is water out of the tap not cool or ice water offered. Luke warm water. There was no silverware out at the station I went to. Would have been nice to be greeted and told how it worked or what specials were on tap. We ordered the French dip and wings- there was not a choice for dipping sauce we had to stop someone and ask for sauce. We waiting for over 45 minutes for our food- which was odd seeing how staffed they were and could see the kitchen was staffed, there was only one other food order I watched come out in the 45 minutes so not sure what the delay was. We also had somewhere to be and was stopping in for a small meal. We stopped someone and asked if our order had gone through since it had been such a long wait. (Most people were just sitting hanging out drinking) While sitting I noticed they were very overly staffed yet no one greeted people and tables were not getting bused in a timely fashion. When our food did arrive the French dip came first and was cold... fries were cold too. Clearly our food had sat a significant enough amount of time the Ajou was luke warm. It was mostly just a hard baguette with one slice of meat for $18 the best part was the cold fries. You had to soak your bread to be able to bite into it at all. The wings- I liked how crispy they were fried but the sauce was not good. Tasted like ketchup without any real flavor. We needed a to go box as we needed to leave and all the staff was in the back. I counted 6 people working front of house who were all in the back... When it was time to check out the recommended tip was 25% which is odd considering there really was no service. read more

I think this is going to be a wonderful place to go for drinks and food. I do think it is early days and they are ultimately figuring everything out, but the food is very good, the drinks are solid, and the service is friendly. The space is well designed and fits their limited space. We had one issue but I believe it was mostly because they are figuring things out and the issue was that 1 meal came out about 15-20 minutes before mine. I was not in a hurry and I think that will be ironed out over time and we will likely come back soon enough. read more

I'd been wanting to visit this place since it opened up. The atmosphere here is awesome, there's outdoor seating and a decent amount of indoor seating as well. The decor is really cool and it's nice they've incorporated the building's history via pictures on the wall. There's plenty of parking since there's street parking and nearby lots. Ordering is very easy, you scan a QR code, create an account and place your order. That order gets sent to the kitchen and your food and drinks come out when they're ready. You can close your tab out this way too and for us it felt very convenient and super easy to use! The beer selection is pretty varied which is awesome and there's a decent amount of non alcoholic options as well. The staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. We love that it's family friendly and to be frank, I think Sumner needs more places like this. The food was really good, we shared the pear and fig flatbread, the Korean bbq chicken wings, and the pretzels. All was delicious but the real star for us was the cheese sauce that came with the pretzels! Highly recommend and we can't wait to visit again! read more

Super cute new place in Sumner. Parkings not great at no fault of their own. Great outdoor deck area. Dog's allowed out on the deck only. Food was yummy & the staff were very nice, helpful & seem to really enjoy their jobs. I had the gluten free Pair & Fig Sweet Potato Flatbread. So yummy & plenty to fill me up. My husband had their Veggie Burger & said it was very good as well. Lots of beer, cider's & seltzer's to choose from as well. Will definitely be returning soon! read more

We ordered and got our drinks. My husband got his burger and I watched him eat the whole thing and still didn't have my food. Took another 15 minutes after I asked the waitress where my food was to get my sandwich. They didn't have the dressing I wanted on my salad so I cancelled it. Not a fan of this place. Waited a long time to try it out and was extremely disappointed. Their sandwiches are expensive and if you want fries it's a 3 dollar up charge. Their service is lackluster but I'm not entirely sure if that's how it's supposed to be or not. You order from your phone and then there's about zero communication from the wait staff. While we waited for our food we heard the server tell several tables that the kitchen was backed up and it would take a bit longer than normal. This was pretty interesting info as the kitchen staff seemed to be having a dance competition. Our appetizer came with the meal after we saw it sit in the window for half an hour which was also disappointing because we had already ordered 45 minutes earlier. It was a Friday but this place was not that busy. Maybe we just ordered all the wrong things- the Sumner sandwich sounded interesting but was too saucy and overly sweet, same experience with the pear flat bread. Maybe more cheese, much less jam & more balsamic? The fries were a bummer, the grilled cheese didn't have enough cheese & the smoked flavor was a bit strong. You order in their app, put in a card to start your own tab, they bring it out all at once, you get your own water, condiments, silverware, boxes etc. It's essentially self serve.
