Omg, sizzling plates here are amazing!! Got the ribeye with spagetti and the special Toyori sauce! So good! The sauce is really garlicky! Ribeye was tender! Spagetti was al dente! All of which I love! Got the shrimp tempura as a starter. Crispy and wonderful! Good food here!

I remembered this place was good that was why I came back but this time it was quite disappointing. Food quality wasn't as good as it used to be and prices range increase due to inflation. The eel rice bowl was horrible. Rice is over cooked with water so it's taste so smooshing, the omelette came with it wasn't cooked correctly neither. The other dish was ok but not good.

Craving ramen or a sizzling plate? Then this place is a great recommendation to check out. When you walk in the interior may be a little bit small but just enough space for you and your group. The menu is big and has a variety of options to choose from even has options for people who don't eat meat. The pricing on their food is affordable for the portion that they give you. The ramen has a rich broth and juicy meat. The sizzling plate was yummy and I liked how much noodles they give you.

Toyori is a hidden gem, it stands out even in chinatown how could you miss it. Tahiti reminded me of japan and if you enjoy good ramen this is definitely a must try! The ramen i ordered was the beef tonkotsu the meat was very tender, the broth was creamy and savory and the egg was just the way i wanted it to be sweet and delicious. The atmosphere is great the staff were very kind and attentive to help me figure out what to try on the menu if i'm ever in houston again craving ramen ill definitely be back try a new flavor !

It's always a pleasant experience when coming here. I have introduced many people to dine here and all have expressed their lovely experience as well. Service can be sketchy at times during peak dining time but it's never bad. It can get packed and there can be a wait time. I'm a big fan of sizzling platters so my food stays hot while eating, the ribeye steak being my favorite, with the black pepper sauce. My complaint is that it's never cooked medium rare, usually served medium and ends up getting more cooked as it sits on the hot platter. I get it with the spaghetti so I can take it to go and enjoy it the next day because I can't finish this entire plate in one sitting. The side vegetables of frozen corn, carrots, and brussels sprouts with the steak is more than enough for me so the spaghetti is a bonus. On this trip, we had a party of 5, enjoyed lots of appetizers but my favorite is the geso karaage - I favor this because I love fried squid. We tried the beef salad, just ok. My friend felt the grilled shrimp was a tad bit overcooked but then it was served on the sizzling platter and she ate too slow. The unagi steak was really flavorful, ratio of rice to fish was perfect. The restaurant is always clean and food comes quick. A carafe of water is placed on every table so you don't have to wait for a refill. Parking is a challenge most days but especially on the weekend so be prepared to search or park one of the two parking garages. Or you can save yourself the hassle of parking by catching a rideshare. I'll definitely be back for good comfort food.

I went here for a friend as he recommended it. It's a ramen place near menshos but with no line (or at least when I went). The vibe is pretty nice and the place is pretty spacious. The food is alright. I would say I wish the ramen were more flavorful but this could just be my preference. The other dishes like dumplings were decent.

Recently had lunch here after my wife and son tried it first and I'm glad I followed their lead. I'd seen the photos and was intrigued, and let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. Tucked in the heart of Chinatown surrounded by countless restaurants and right next to a famous ramen spot--this one still manages to stand out. We ordered the sizzling steak over rice with eggs and veggies, their ramen, and a side of chicken and vegetables. It's not your typical Asian restaurant, it's got its own twist and that's what makes it great. The flavors work, the food hits the spot, and the vibe feels fresh. Definitely worth a visit. Try it...you'll see why.

The food was AMAZING! I loved the vibe too it was definitely a great date night spot, the server was nice and fast but he was running around all over the place--I hope they hire another person for the front too it seemed like he was handling everything. Overall 10/10

They no longer serve the fish, which used to be my favorite dish here. I tried the steak this time, and while it was good, I don't think it was worth the price. For the cost, I'd rather go elsewhere. The restaurant also seemed understaffed, which affected service. Food took a while to come out. Those in my group who ordered ramen or were nearly finished by the time our sizzling plates arrived. The ramen itself was decent, though the portion felt a bit small. Overall, I'd recommend stopping by to try the sizzling plates at least once if you've never had them. But beyond that, this spot has slipped down my list of go-to places in Chinatown.

More like 3.5/5. I'm from the East coast where there is plenty of amazing Asian restaurants so I know what good ramen tastes like. And sorry to say this definitely fell flat especially for the price. tonkatsu beef steak ramen: this was really different so I thought I give a try..mistake. The steak was overcooked and dry and really didn't pair well with the broth. Then they put red onion...when they could have just used green onions...The egg was also overcooked and not properly marinated. Takoyaki: save your money, it is mostly dough and very little octopus Located in Chinatown so plenty of other options to choose from.

given that toyori is situated right next to mensho, i feel like people often come in ordering ramen and holding it to the same high standards. to me, that comparison feels a bit unfair. toyori really shines with their sizzling plates, which are clearly their specialty. portions are super generous for the price, and everything feels very affordable. the steak especially is sooo worth it. service was friendly, and we appreciated the small apps and yakult at the end :) the takoyaki was light on the eel sauce and not heavy on the mayo. there was barely any octopus though, which made it a little too doughy, but it was still tasty overall. the ribeye & chicken and the short rib sizzling platters were solid. id heard the meats can be a bit tough, so i asked for them cooked more rare than i usually order, and they came out tender, especially the chicken. the sauce itself was a little bland, though, and we had to add quite a bit of salt. the steak tonkatsu wasn't bad but nothing super memorable. the gyudon was comforting, with lots of fatty brisket marinated in a savory sweet sauce and soft onions. the only downside was that the rice was pretty soaked in oil toward the bottom; it definitely didn't need that much grease. also the miso soup it came with was basically just water... overall, toyori is a good spot if you order the right things, great for a casual, satisfying meal

We came across Toyori Sizzling Ramen because it was the only joint with a line when we arrived at Dun Huang Plaza. The window display was definitely enticing because the plastic food displays looked very substantial in portion for the prices. Since we were not too hungry, we decided to explore the plaza's other restaurants and shops before making a decision. After walking a couple of rounds, we circled back to Toyori and there was no more line. So, we immediately made the decision to give it a try. The restaurant seating is nicely arranged along both walls and down the middle of the restaurant. Accent lighting gave the place a relaxing and cozy feel. However, we noticed the service staff were working at different rates. Some were taking on more than the others. My daughter likes miso ramen, we unanimouslydecided on the miso ramen. The plastic display showed large pieces of chashu lining the side of a large bowl. However, when the actual ramen bowl arrived, we could hardly see the chashu pieces. A case of misrepresentation ? On the upside, the ramen broth was tasty, but could be hotter in temperature. The noodle texture was just right and not overcooked.

My friend and I came here on a Friday night, randomly choosing this spot with little to no expectations. To our surprise, the menu immediately impressed us. I always appreciate a menu with pictures, and this one was packed with them! We got lucky since there wasn't any wait time and were seated almost immediately. I ordered the Prime Ribeye Donburi, while my friend went for the beef ramen. My dish took a bit longer to arrive, but the flavor made it completely worth the wait. I did end up adding a bit of spicy sauce to my donburi, but aside from that, it was incredible. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to this location again. My donburi came with a small side soup, which I, unfortunately, didn't enjoy at all.

I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl...
