5 stars for Dr Toyos' SMILE surgery - it's life changing! But they have got to get appts together. Do not go here for routine exams. I've had multiple appts where there were issues. One time no one was there because they didn't get back in time from company party?! Worst was my last - they scheduled my eye exam for a day the optometrist is NOT in apparently. Then texted me to confirm prior which I did. So imagine leaving work early for that and not knowing until you've driven out. The front desk acted surprised I had an appt ‍. So you see an eye exam on today's schedule but know the doctor isn't in...and think to say nothing to that person? Really? We reschedule and I had to call to confirm the Dr was in the day prior. I waited literally over 40 minutes past my appt for eye exam that takes a total of 10 minutes end to end. Just ridiculously unprofessional. read more

My wife and I moved here from upstate New York. I broke my glasses and was looking for a referral for a place I could trust. The owner of the Juice Bar recommended Toyos. My first interaction was with Angelique, an incredible outgoing, young lady, who definitely understood the value of customer service. When I arrived for my appointment I was able to experience the friendly and professional service of Crystal, and Dr. Ellis, who answered every question with concern and knowledge. I realized this level of service was a company culture. With my eye test complete, Katie helped me select the correct lenses and frames. I recommend them highly. Stay away from this place! They are a joke....even among their colleagues in the optical profession. I have had several other professionals who have literally said "You should have done your homework"! Melissa is dismissive, incompetent, arrogant, rude and condescending, and that's all of her good qualities! NEVER go to an ophthalmologist who does botox, hair restoration, body sculpting, juggling and goat yoga....find a professional, not a clown show! I had cataract surgery in both eyes and I am have major problems months later and have been sent to a specialist who says I have damage to both of my eyes from these incompetent clowns! I have been told that I will most likely have to have both lenses replaced as well. My vision is very poor, especially at night! I've been to Toyos clinic (Nashville and Franklin) over 10 times for dry eye relief, and its been consistently bad. Few things that stand out: -The doctors are always late, by a lot. I've been the first appointment of a day, and the doctor has been an hour late to even showing up at the office. You can imagine how delayed later appointments are if the first appointment is that bad. My last time at the Franklin office, the doctor never showed up - after about 1.5hr wait, they had me see someone else. No explanation, just happened. -They aren't focused on customer service, with huge delays (I've had to wait 2 hours), no one apologizes and the front desk seems apathetic to the fact that they can't run to schedule. -Things aren't as clean as I've experienced elsewhere. Lack of hand washing, glove wearing, sanitizing surfaces. Especially concerning during COVID. -The clinic as a whole feels more like a beauty-focused shop than a doctor/medicine based clinic. They also push overpriced products that they've relabeled (their fish oil is something you can buy on Amazon at half price as an example). Now, you might be asking why I went 10+ times with such a terrible experience. Its because having dry eye sucks, and the Toyos claim to be on the forefront of research. Unfortunately, they run a worse operation than any other business I've ever been in, so I've decided to try somewhere else. I would avoid this clinic at all costs. read more

Well I started to here in 2018 since I have dry eyes and then in 2019 I was told I had cataracts so did the surgery. And when covid hit after I went and did my yag because my vision was still cloudy and I was to now that I have dry macular degeneration. And when I called yesterday to make sure since I was told in 2020 that I had it and I even went back to toyos in March of this year and was told I had it but they never put in on paper and now I'm being told I don't have it and even the prescription glasses have not helped my vision all they want is you to just keep coming back mind you im 4 hours away and going every couple of weeks or every month to just waste my time to be told I have to get my dry eye under control when I'm trying and nothing has worked so to be lied to about not having macular degeneration now makes me think it's only about the money and not the patient so they look better see better is a lie. read more

The waiting area is spacious, clean, open and very comfortable. Melissa is very prompt and professional and has an incredibly pleasant bedside manner. I love all of these things about Melissa Toyos and her clinic, but what is most meaningful to me is that she is very knowledge cutting edge techniques from around the world. I had the opportunity to see Dr Melissa Toyo's while in New York for a Dry Eye Conference. She and her husband were very knowledgeable and willing to share their wealth of experience with myself and a group of other Eye Doctors who want to help with Dry Eye disease. While I was there I had a MIXTO Light procedure to help with fine lines and wrinkles. She was experienced and professional. The procedure was virtually painless and left minimal swelling the first day... The second and third day were a bit different as I would expect. I will say as compared to past CO2 procedures I had, this was much easier and the healing time was within a week. During that week I was still able to work and go about my day.... just looked a bit sunburned. Three weeks out I feel great and am amazed by the results. While technology has improved so have providers. Dr Toyo's is kind, professional and worth the wait! I highly recommend her and look forward to visiting her Memphis location in the future. read more

Will never go there again! Had a routine eye exam and it was okay, service was a C at best. Dr questioned a growth in my eye and scheduled biopsy with Dr Toyos. Went back week later for Biopsy and Dr Toyos told me after looking at it he didn't want to biopsy it because it was to suspicious looking. Told me it had characteristics of squamous cell carcinoma (Cancer) and I needed surgery. This was the 2nd of July. I was told to enjoy my weekend and not to worry as someone would be calling me to schedule surgery. It is the 22nd of July and I STILL haven't heard back from anyone. Thankfully another dr was able to get me in the following week and I am undergoing treatments. Do not recommend! read more

I had a virus in my eye and after 5 weeks of them "attempting to help me", I sought out a 2nd opinion from Vanderbilt Eye Institute. They resolved the issue with just one visit. Additionally, Dr. Dustin Briscoe recommended an eye excretion process by Dr. Toyos which I chose not to persue. When I mentioned this to the Vanderbilt eye doctor, he simply shook his head in disbelief and said that I did not need to have that done. read more

I loved this clinic! The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The tech who did my initial exam was very thorough and comforting. I saw Dr. Daniel who was super sweet and very knowledgeable. She took her time with me and made sure to explain things to make sure I understood. Dr. Toyos has been such a skin saver lately! I was one of those people who never took their makeup off at night, and had been using the same moisturizer that my mom first introduced me to at the age of 12. Being a TN Titans Cheerleader, I know that my skin is such an important part of my job and Dr. Toyos has been great about finding regimens and products that work for me and are easy. Easy being the most important word! Extremely grateful for her, and her awesome staff who make me me feel like a superstar, even on my off days! P.S. Terrible experience. My wife and I went to Toyo's Clinic a couple weeks ago. We each had our appointment in the morning and were received about 20-30 mins later (we already had all our paperwork pre-filled and there was no line of people). After the Dr. checked our vision, we paid our $20 co pay, and the Dr. informed my wife she was only responsible for the copay while being fitted with a new pair of contact lenses. Fast forward a couple weeks and now the billing representative is stating we owe a balance of $45 for the contact fitting. We advised the rep we were informed otherwise by the Dr. The billing rep told us that it does not matter what the Dr. quoted because she handles all billing. We tried explaining to her we also have a Contact Lens Trial Certificate and THEIR STORE is listed as one of the stores that accepts it. She refused to accept it. Besides their false communication to us and poor time management with regards to scheduled appointments, they also have a dull waiting area, disorganized work environment and a very limited section of frames that is poorly stocked. I had laser vision correction with Dr. Toyos about a year and a half ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. The process was quick and very well explained to me. I had previous evaluations with other doctors and was told that I was not a candidate for laser correction, but Dr. Toyos made me completely comfortable and I was very confident going in to the procedure. All of my after care was great with all of the doctors at his clinic and the office staff is very accommodating. I recommend Dr. Toyos to anyone considering laser vision correction. read more
