Great experience today with a clerk (possibly manager) during a transaction for a gift card. I had been waiting behind another customer for some time (someone high maintenance, not the store's fault) and this employee noticed and went above and beyond to compensate during my purchase when there wasn't a need. Now Play Toys and Books. Same amazing employees and a great, curated selection of toys, books, and games. They also offer online ordering, order by phone, and curbside pickup. I did all of our Christmas shopping here and everything was a winner. They make everything SO easy and you can be pretty much guaranteed that you'll find something cool for whoever you are shopping for. COVID precautions are good. What an awesome neighborhood toy store. Toys et Cetera has such a variety of toys for all ages that it was hard for me to decide what to buy as a gift for a toddler! Everything seemed great. The selection is not lacking at all. In addition to newer toys they also carry some great classics. What truly makes this store awesome though is the staff. They are so helpful, not pushy, and seem to enjoy working there...but why wouldn't they ? Its a toy store! Last but not least, gift wrapping is free. Good times. read more

This store offers lots of entertainment for both a one-year old and a 30-something. One of us definitely had so much fun because we explored the entire store and in the aftermath, nearly all of the stuffed animals were pulled off the shelf. Out of sheer embarrassment, I don't think my niece will take me back ever again. However, when she's not looking, I'll sneak over all by myself. The toys are that much fun. Look out stuffed animals! The free gift-wrap with your purchase is a super perk. It's not cheaply done, either, with nice ribbons and paper. I despise wrapping, so for that alone, I'll shop here. Go play! When I need a toy for "the Viking" (Sorry, inside thing with Mama K) this is always where I go. One because I don't really know a lot of kids to buy toys for. Two because it's a small business in my hood. And third because I know that they have loud obnoxious toys to drive his parents nuts with. Sorry, I'm evil that way (evil laugh begins here). But seriously, they have anything you can think of when you're not going for major labels. Toys for all ages and a ton of smart toys for kids to learn. The staff is always nice and helpful which I don't know how they do it. There is always kids running around when I'm there. Prices aren't so bad here and they do free gift wrapping. I live right by timeless toys so that's usually my go to toy store for unique children's gifts but yesterday, I was looking for something very specific and timeless did not have it but toys etc did. They were very friendly over the phone and said they'd have it all gift wrapped and ready to go for me before you getting in the store. That is exactly how it went down! I walked in there with my four kids and the gift was gift wrapped and bagged and ready to go they were very very very friendly! My baby was wailing quite a bit because he wanted to get out of the stroller so the sales associate started to play guitar and sing softly which calmed my baby down! I loved the customer service so much that it makes me want to support this local businesses and make a point to drive the extra mile to this store because they went above and beyond :) Thanks toys etc. read more

OMG. I parked in front of this place on my way to Women & Children Bookstore. The toys in the window enticed me to venture inside.. $150 later.. I found some of the most unique gifts for people in my life. As a former art teacher.. Fantastic independent toy store in the heart of Andersonville. I had to stop myself from running around the store to explore all the goodies and I'm three decades old...I know that any kid younger than me would have an equally good time. I bought a gift for my 3 year old nephew that helps to inspire some creative storytelling but it was a tough decision with all the beautiful toys and gifts. I like shopping local, and when it came time for another nephew's bday...I thought, Toys et Cetera would at least be my first stop before Target for another Lego set. We got an air hockey table ($30), which the 7 year old loved! Their stuff is more pricey than what you're going to find at Target or Toys R us, but they have optional gift wrap and really know their toys. The staff is friendly, and you can find a bigger selection of younger kids toys, but they do carry some science games, some Egyptian chess laser game, and things like that. You might not be able to afford all of your Christmas shopping here, say, but it's a great place when you have some dough and want to get a nice gift. read more

Once again this store provided that last minute gift we needed and with excellent advice and the free wrapping took them less than a minute. It would have taken me 30 minutes and would never have looked as good as theirs did. This store carries a more unique variety of toys and games for various ages. If you are looking for the run of the mill Toys R Us stuff you will not find it here. I love independent toy stores. This place has a great selection of toys and games that go beyond your usual plastic crap from the big stores. There's a nice selection of puzzles that Lenny jr is now into. Lots of Melissa and Doug stuff, craft kits, train set and much more. The staff is really nice. This place is small, but stocked full of good quality items. My daughter and I love to pop in and see the new selections. The people that work here really make all the difference. I peeked in here while checking out the neighborhood this past weekend and thought it had a great variety of stuff you wouldn't necessarily find in other stores; I'm also a fan of Marbles Stores and Cat & Mouse Games, but I felt this store definitely targets a younger audience and more interactive/physical play, appropriate mostly up through elementary age. I saw lots of Melissa & Doug learning items, toy instruments, sand and water toys, play food and home items, puzzles of all sorts, etc. My 3-year old niece is autistic and loves rambunctious sensory play; I felt like there were just so many great items here I could have happily purchased for her, and less of the beginner books or toddler matching/counting games that are typical in big box retailers but wouldn't have a snowflake's chance in H-E-double hockey sticks of actually engaging her for more than a cursory glance - it was perfect! This place is a true gem. I love the variety of toys here, a great selection for various ages. Perfect place to shop for gifts for the little ones. But the thing that stands out the most is the outstanding customer service. I had a toy that I purchased 9 months ago stop working and was able to go in and exchange for a brand new one. There's also a music time Tues at 11:30 and again at 4 - the children could play along with the instruments while the musician (store employee) play. This toy store has a huge selection for its size, crammed wall-to-wall with toys, games, and the like. I find, though, that the staff is often just chatting to each other and not really paying any attention when I'm in there. Granted, I don't want someone personally showing me everything in the store, but simple acknowledgment wouldn't hurt. This store really would only appeal to people looking for stuff for little kids. If you have an older kid or if you're an adult who likes to collect quirky art or retro toys, this isn't the place for you. Given Andersonville's eclectic mix of people, it would probably do this store good to try to cater to more than just the stroller-pushers of the neighborhood. Maybe throw in some Uglydolls with the plush unicorns or something of that ilk. I know I'd be in there a lot more often if they did. read more
