We got a few plumbers out to quote and we were up for $2000-3000 to replace the heater... We got on to jetset plumbing who advised us that it was only a leaking valve! And that the heater wasn't old enough to need replacing. Couldn't believe our luck, we are very grateful to jetset for saving us at least $2000!

These are plumbers of the…read more"let's get straight down to it" variety rather than the affable, friendly-blokey types that hang around and chat and it somehow doesn't feel like a chore. Which is what you want, really, when your hot water isn't working and you're becoming growingly, unsettlingly aware of when your last shower was. As our property is a rental, I'm not sure of the exact arrangement Bell's Plumbing has with the real estate agent, but they're on the emergency list of numbers - and they really are good in an emergency. A little too good. They visited twice in one week and both times when I called them beforehand they estimated a visit in "about 45 minutes" but then would show up within five minutes. Creepy. Then they get here and stride purposefully from their van to the hot water system like they're The Adjustment Bureau or something. All in all I've seen these guys three times recently. The repeated visits weren't due to errors on their behalf, but the necessary line of testing for what the problem was (or at least that was the vibe I got. One started talking like a car mechanic at the end of his visit, explaining in technical language the nature of the problem and my brain checked out). The two guys that have come out to the house are known to the household by their descriptions: the Irish guy (slightly upbeat) and Surly Dark-Haired Guy (not really surly, just the set of his face). As I said, they seemed to know their stuff, but then again my knowledge of the plumbing world is limited. What is certain is that the issue was resolved, and seemingly as swiftly as possible.
