The bar is in two parts; as you come into the entrance to your left there is reflex, which was playing lots of 80s tunes the last time I went, and to the right is the Flares part, which was playing lots of disco! The place always seems to be packed out and it's usually quite a long wait at the bar, so I would recommend getting a couple of drinks at a time! The bar prices are the norm for the area, and they have various delicious cocktails on offer, which always go down well! There is an entrance fee to the bar, which I think was a pund last time I was there, and it is open til late. The crowd can seem a little rough, especially towards the end of the night, but I've never seen any trouble when I've drank in there.

This is perhaps one of the larger bars in Middlesbrough, it consist of a massive spiralling staircase which takes you to an upstairs floor with looks down on the floor below. One an evening this place is always full, the music is current and upbeat dance, at times it can be a bit frustrating fighting to get to the bar but the drinks are quite cheap so its worth the wait. If you go during the day the offer quite a good menu, they have a buy one get one free menu which is very reasonably priced. They have a large amount of seating and quite a lot of booths so you can enjoy your meal in privacy, ideal if you still feel a bit rough after last night.

If you are looking for a gastro pub then this isn't the place for you, but if you are wanting a plate of honest, traditional food then this place is definitely worth a look in. I can't tell you what it is like in the evening, as I have only been during the day, but I can't imagine it being anything other than a normal 'local' pub in a town centre.
