What a great family fun thing this was. We all liked it. The park turns into this beautiful light show when the night falls. This was even better than I expected. I have to say. I would do it again next year. Its a driving experience. They had a sign of a station to listen to. I got static so I used mine. You have to stay inside the car. They had a bathroom stop halfway. It was around thirty dollars and you had the option of buying 3D glasses for $6, ouch a little overpriced for paper glasses. I did buy them lol. What the glasses did was that it added a figure to the lights. My glasses had snowman and if I moved they moved with me. It was cool. The snowman were everywhere. My son got candy cane. It was the same experience. The staff seemed to be enjoying themselves. Some really got into the holiday spirit. Everyone was very cheerful here. It was a happy atmosphere. We had an absolutely lovely morning going on a private horseback riding tour At Tradewinds Stables. I'm a vet so animal welfare is always my top priority when riding, and you can tell they LOVE these horses! My fiance rode Rooster and I rode Ryder, both incredible horses, we hardly had to do anything they just followed right along so we could enjoy the ride. Our guides had great info on some of the wildlife in the area, and on the horses at the stables. The majority of the ride was shaded, so helped with some of the heat. Couldn't recommend the experience more, especially if you have a kiddo who loves horses! read more

Love this park! It's beautiful, large and full of a variety of activities. Walking trails, horse trails, lakes, train ride (center weekends of the month for kids), a bee sanctuary too and more! We went this weekend for their fall festival and what a treat! Hounce houses, photo opportunities, pumpkin patch, pig races, hayrides and more! The kids and us had a blast. With the overwhelming amount of people that came, it never felt so crowded that you could not participate in what you wanted. Some lines, but not always. It was pretty well organized too. Lots of people have birthday parties here on the weekends. There is lots of parking. Very peaceful place to get out and walk or play disc golf with friends. A beautiful gem in our community! Update: we came back for the trains (this was officially our third time) I hate that south Florida in general doesn't have much for little ones and this was clear because the line to get the tickets was unreasonably long (in addition to paying to enter the park). I mean, isn't there a faster way to do this?? Can I pay online/pre-pay? Set up a QR code like come on. Then you have to wait again for the train and there are three so it still took us about an hour to get the tickets and get on the ride??? Baby this is not Disney! Anyway, it was a nice do it once kind of thing but the train ride wasn't long enough or close enough to a central location for the hassle to get on it. We are unlikely to return. Original: A mess. I handed the guy at the gate/front $3, he said they don't have the trains which was the only reason we came, I couldn't get my $3 back. He told me I had to go across to the office even though it had been 1 minute since he received the $3.... It's also the third Sunday of the month which is when they advertise the trains. It's the third Sunday, no train. 0/10- do not recommend. read more

Tradewinds Park & Stables This was our first time coming here for horseback riding and had an absolute amazing time. Right off the bat you pull in and you see that the stables and horses are well maintained and clean and the horses have plenty of open space to run which is great. The staff was super warm and friendly and went over the basics with us for horseback riding and paired us with horses that would best suit us and our riding levels. We had a couple of people in our group that had never been horseback riding before and they were very patient with them and the horses were so gentle and calm and well behaved with all of us. They took us on a 1 hour trail ride through the park and it was nice because we were riding through the grasses and through wooded areas that were shady with a nice breeze to them rather than riding by the side of the road as some places we have been to. It was a beautiful ride so tranquil and peaceful and the horses were well mannered and easy to handle. Even the riders who had never ridden before were comfortable and at peace riding the horses knew the trail well and all stayed single file behind each other so they needed very little guidance or commands. We rode on Summer and Carlton and they were big beautiful horses with such sweet personalities. It only cost $35 per person to ride which is the cheapest place we have found in Florida for horse back riding and it was one of the best horse back riding experiences we have had in Florida so I highly recommend them if you ever wanted to ride a horse it's a great place for beginners or even for something to do with the family over the weekend. They have ponies for younger kids to ride and there's a playground for kids to play by the stables that's nice too. Chickens and peacocks were by the stables and overall it was a beautiful afternoon spent at the stables. We will be back for sure! read more

This park, one of the largest in the Fort Lauderdale metro area, is located at Sample Road and Florida's Turnpike (exit 69). It has horseback riding, an educational farm, model steam train rides, shelters, fishing, athletic fields, Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida, and the world-famous Butterfly World. There are many shelters that can be reserved for picnics or small events, many located very close to the water. The amount of activities at this park are immense.... I came to the light show called fantasy of lights on Christmas Eve around 8pm. The line was super long but it moved faster than expected. It took about 20-25 minutes to get to the entry and then another 15 minutes to get to the part where you pay... we paid $32 for a car of 4 and 3D glasses for us all. Honestly there was no theme and the show was short. I have to admit it wasn't worth the effort let along the fee. No one in my family enjoyed it but our toddler. I'll call this a unique experience and something to do with small children. Our 11 year old didn't enjoy it at all neither did the adults. This could be a great experience if you have a few toddlers with you and the get to point and smile at the lights. It wasn't entertaining or themed. read more

Was here for a gathering and had a great time! Easy location right off the turnpike. There are signs everywhere in the area, you can't miss it. When you arrive it's $1.50 a person to enter the park (butterfly world is a separate charge). Once we arrived we got to our shelter and enjoyed the party. The area itself is really nice. Great scenery with the trees and lakes in the area. The park is very clean and well maintained. Definitely recommend this park for anyone who is looking to host an outdoor event! read more

There is something for everyone at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek. Tradewinds is one of the larger Broward county parks. The park is on both sides of Sample Road. Entry is free weekdays and $1.50 per person on the weekends. Hours are 8 to 6 every day. There are many shelters of varying sizes for events. There is disc golf, fishing, a playground, athletic fields, a concession stand and an educational farm. The train rides are a real hit with children. There is a walking path that is approximately 3 miles around the park. There is an equestrian trail and they conduct many equine assisted therapy. Butterfly world is on the south side of the park. The holiday fantasy of lights is an annual event, in 2022 it runs until January 1, 6 to 10 PM nightly and cost $24 per car. read more

I'd never been on a horse before, so a friend bought us a trail ride. The ride is an hour long and about $40 per person. The trail riding is on the north entrance of the park. We arrived early, but there's plenty to see and do. We went on a walk along the water on the south entrance of the park, and then looked around at the animal petting area (separate admission, so we just looked) on the north side. We visited the gift shop which has cute affordable gifts and a few snacks for purchase to hold you over if needed. The staff was very helpful and explained everything well. For being a little intimidated of horse back riding, they made it easy for a first time rider. All of the horses were very friendly and knew what they were doing. The trail was at a slow pace the while time and went through the trails of the park. read more

Drove up from Miami to do some social distancing bike riding with a friend and come to find out they are doing Covid-19 testing in the main part. The Butterfly World part is where you can go exercising and riding but truthfully is very limited. Only one path so that was a little disappointing. As required, you are to wear a mask but I saw plenty people not doing so. I think I'll wait until the main part is open again. I will say it is very quiet and peaceful if you need to clear your thoughts, do a nature picnic photoshoot or even do yoga. read more

Tradwinds Park has a bit of everything from disc golf, to mini power train rides for kids one weekend per month, pavilion rentals, animal farm tours, pony rides for little ones, and horse trail rides for bigger ones. However, most services are unavailable right now due to the pandemic. Good news is that they have waived entrance fees as a result. If you want to exercise or have a picnic, you practically have the whole place to yourself. I am writing regarding the trail rides specifically, and could probably be part of a new business review on just their stable and trail rides. They offer these all through the week and at 4 different times on weekends. The trail ride is $35 plus tax for an hour, which will include a tour guide and no more than 8 other riders. If you want a private ride, the cost bumps up to $50 per rider. They also offer lessons and stable rental. Riders must be 9-years old before they can go on the trail ride, prior to that they must stick to the ponies which are currently not operating due to the long lines they would get. Weight limit is 225 pounds for adults (ad they will weigh you if it is close). This is only fair for the poor horses that would have to schlep 230 lbs plus around for an hour. They are very nice and helpful. This is a great place for an inexpensive trail ride where they seem to care for the horses very well. Most other places will cost you more than this. I give them 5 stars and recommend for something different on a weekend. read more

We were on the Turnpike heading south to check in on Friday 11/20 evening when I saw the Christmas lights on this park. I immediately searched for it and saw it was $20 per car and it's 3 miles of Christmas lights. Great. Something to do with the little ones. We decided to go on Tuesday 11/24 around 645pm. I went on their website and prepaid ($20 plus $2 fee) right before we left the hotel. The park was about 15-20 from the hotel. You pull up and right away you see a whole bunch of Christmas lights. You don't see anyone until you drive a little further in so here I'm thinking "I paid $22 and it's free??". Finally you see the staff and they asked if we had prepaid which we did so they sent us to the right lane. The lights were beautiful. Don't think it was worth $20 though. But it was something to do with the kids. So if you have $20 (plus $2 fee) sitting around and want to do something different with the kids, then go ahead and check it out. You can also just jump on the turnpike and see a glance if it and you can decide whether you want to see more or not. read more

Really great relaxing spot to spend some time with family. Beautiful park and great activities, including horse-back riding on a long trail, pony rides for kids (less than 52"), playground, picnic tables, and more. We got the group horseback riding tickets ($35 per person) and it was a super peaceful, beautiful hour long ride through the trails. The horses are very well trained throughout. The pony rides for kids are only $3 per ride and you can guide the horse yourself! Great service and conversation with all the staff, everyone was super nice and patient. read more

7/4/2017 - INDEPENDENCE DAY TRIATHLON & DUATHLON EVENT MultiRace put this awesome event at the beautiful Tradewinds Park and they did an excellent job. It was very well thought out. This was a very fast and safe event. The day was perfect. The event was a straight swim across the lake, traffic-less bike course and a sidewalk run. The swimmers started on the south end of the lake and finished on the north end. The lake is calm with no current. The transitions to the bike were fast. There was security from the Bike In and Bike Out. Only athletes were able to enter and exit. There were approximately 500 athletes. 10 bikes per row. The 10 mile bike ride gave you an opportunity to see this beautiful park. Also, during the run you go through the lake in a 2 loop course. After you cross the finish, they had food and beverages for us, much needed!. Plus vendors. This is a great event for spectators to come cheer as they got an opportunity to see the swim, bike and run throughout. There are plenty of picnic tables for families and friends to gather afterwards and enjoy the day. read more

The park has plenty of the picnic areas, playgrounds, and scenery to enjoy by all. It includes Butterfly World, which is something I have to explore one day, and there is a charge if you go on the weekends to enter the park. There's no charge during the week. Weird. I'm not a fan of that rule, but that's Broward County for you. Take it or leave it. The Holiday Fantasy of Lights is something to do if you're in the area. I don't find it worth the $15 bucks per car to see it. We got a coupon for 3 bucks off on top of it and wasn't too thrilled with it. It has some creative displays and you don't even have to get out of your car. Just drive right on through. I honestly have been through neighborhoods and seen better light shows for free, so don't be too bummed if you missed out on it. read more

At 625 acres Tradewinds Park has something for everyone. The site was originally a horse farm. The original farm house still stands on the property and you can tour it. The park is so large it spans both sides of Sample Road. The south side of the park contains the immensely popular Butterfly World and the north side has the horse stables, farm, and mini train ride run by Tradewinds & Atlantic Railroad, Inc. On a Saturday afternoon I found myself on a photographic expedition to Butterfly World on the the south side of the park. Admission to Tradewinds Park is $1.50 on weekends and holidays. Butterfly World is a separate admission price and is the largest butterfly park in the world with 20,00 butterflies. Also on this side of the park are large athletic fields. People who would like to celebrate a special occasion will find ample picnic shelters with grills. Further in the back of the park is a nice bike trail and the Cypress Trail boardwalk that crosses over a waterway and takes you into the woods. It is under renovation and hopefully will become a loop. Right by Butterfly World I was delighted to see a bat house where shelter was being provided for these important pollinators. The north side of the park hosts the Holiday Fantasy of Lights every November and December. It is a drive through light display held during the evenings. Check the park schedule because on a few select nights they also allow you to bike through it which is my preferred way of seeing it. On this side you can find the mini train ride run by the Tradewinds & Atlantic railroads. They offer rides on the weekend and their schedule can be found on their website. Opposite the train you will see a field full of beautiful horses. It was quite the treat watching them being let out of the barn into the fields. Horseback riding is offered to the public for $35 an hour. Equine Assisted Therapies offers therapeutic horse encounters for people with disabilities. Also in this side is the McClean Country House which is open for tours. It was the farmhouse the first owners of this land lived in. There is a playground and an educational public farm that offers tours every weekend. The general store offers concessions on the weekend. If all that wasn't enough you can fish here and play disc golf if you provide your own equipment. We are really lucky to have so many great parks in Broward County. They are so varied. I love seeing all kinds of people out enjoying nature on the weekends. Tradewinds Park is another addition i a stellar lineup of wonderful places to enjoy outdoor recreation in Broward County. read more

If you're child loves trains and ponies then this park is a must. They offer a miniature train ride around the pond once a month (every third weekend of the month). The ride is just $1.50 and it's fun for little ones. Nearby you will find ponies to ride, along with a kids playground. Many activities to do in one area. read more

Pros: 1.50 enterance fee overcast day foodtrucks Cons: Parking a mile away if you let the attendant tell you where to park Took 14 minutes to pay to get in Place is MOBBED with families I didnt see any haystack rides This fall festival is great if you have childern, I do not. I was almost duped into parking miles away from the event but bipassed the attendant and followed another suv closer to where the train ride was. This is a miniature scale train and adults are allowed to ride as well as kids. I parked and got out and thought there MUST be another section because a miniature train ride was not what i was expecting. I got back in my car and followed other card to right next to where the action was. Food booths, a photo booth made of haystacks and pumpkins and LINES that looked like they went on forever for tickets. IF you have children and like to walk I say GO. I personally liked the budweiser clydesdale horses they have closer to the holiday than this fall festival/ Glad it was inexpensive otherwise I really would have been mad. This park has something for everyone. They have a lot of different fields for baseball, soccer or almost anything else you want to play. I really like how the park is well-maintained and practically litter-free. It is a great place to come and unwind and be in nature. When you go in this park, you feel as if you are transported to a simpler time. I really appreciate the beauty of this park and need to come back soon. I have actually told a friend about this park and she is going to check it out to have her son's birthday party there. Came here for the Fantasy of Lights drive through. I had memories of coming with my parents as a kid and felt like doing something fun around the holiday time. It was a Saturday night so I wasn't surprised to see that there was a long line to get in. It took about 15 minutes to get into the park. When we finally got up to the front a woman let me know that it's $17 per car and an extra $3 if we wanted 3D glasses.... ok I understand that this isn't free it obviously costs them money to put up the display and they need to pay people... but $17 seems a bit steep just to drive around in your car for 20 minutes to look at lights. There seems to be a constant flow of cars and they're open from 6-10 every night.. they must be making a huge profit which doesn't exactly seem like the Christmas spirit to me. The lights were definitely not as exciting as when I was a kid and honestly from what I remember, it's pretty much the same lights that they had 10 years ago. You would think they would add some new displays and make the experience more grand. There are sections that you drive through where there aren't any lights at all. It would be nice if the displays were bigger or more abundant. I've seen much nicer light displays at houses and churches that didn't charge you any money to view them. There is no bang for your buck and I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you have young children that might enjoy it more... but even then I'd suggest you save your $17 and drive around a neighborhood to look at house lights for free. read more

It a great Broward County Municipal Park located on Sample Road. During the week there is no charge for admission but during the weekend and public holidays there is a $2.00 - $5.00 charge per vehicle. The Park is divided into a North and South side (divided by Sample Road) that completely accessible through an "underpass". On the South side of the park there is such a large variety of items to do that I suggest you going to their website for details. Anything from an abundance of rentable ($) and "free" picnic shelters, great walking paths (a cumulative length of approximately 1.75 miles) that runs along a very large lake and continuing throughout the park. Along with numerous playgrounds, football and baseball fields (you can also rent equipment if you forgot something) and of course their "1970's - 18 Hole Frisbee Disc Golf Course". Lets not forget the North side of the park which has Horseback riding (guided trail rides and pony rides for your children ), an Educational Farm that includes barnyard animals and a farmhouse museum and is available for guided tours for preschool through middle school students and other groups.) The do have "Butterfly World" but to me the cost ($$$) is really not worth the experience. The admission prices is $25.00 per adult, and $20.00 for children aged 3 to 11! They are currently building a new "Cypress Trail Boardwalk" that should be a treat to all and especially the Northern's that are not use to seeing such an agricultural wonders. The bottom line: Always a pleasure to go for an early morning walk during the week. Cheers! read more

Check out the annual bike ride through the park for the holiday lights. This year it was on 11/16/14. You pay $8 and get to ride the three miles along the paved road and check out the light displays. Ride starts at 6pm. You can line up early. They only let 20 riders go at a time. The line can take 45 minutes to get through. You park on the south side of Sample. Park entry is free. This is a good family activity. People get there early and tailgate. Check it out for next year! read more
