The shop is open 24 hours a day and is very useful for picking up bits a pieces when you can't be bothered going to the local supermarket. As with many similar shops the convenience is reflected in the price of goods sold and they are not as cheap as similar goods found elsewhere. The shop is well organised and clean. There are fridge cabinets and a frozen food section, as well as shelves well placed within the shop. The shop is always very well stocked and has a good variety of items on sale. The staff are friendly and are happy to help. They serve you promptly and are happy to help you bag up and shopping as necessary. This is a great place for the convenient purchase.

The cafe has been relocated to the new upper floor but is woefully short of toilets, a whole two and they're both intended for the diasbled however a wheelchair user would need to run the gauntlet of the tray carrying cafe customers and the closely placed tables in order to use them. To say the layout wasn't very well thought out is a bit of an understatement. Unfortunately the store also has a thriving home delivery service which has expanded into the carpark. Shoppers use the free parking spaces at Tesco to visit the newly built Eagles Meadow Shopping Mall which is opposite the store making parking in what was already a small carpark almost impossible on a saturday. At peak times you'll be queuing to get in and queing to get out.

The forecourt looks clean and tidy and the pumps appear to be well maintained. I don't own a car so I don't really know about the petrol price side of things. I have been in the shop at the petrol station several times. The shop is large, bright, clean, tidy and air conditioned. It has an excellent range of items on sale such as sandwiches, pasties, soft drinks, crisps, chocolate, sweets, frozen food, dairy products magazines and car products. As with many petrol station shops the products are a bit more expensive than they would be in a local newsagents, and it seems as if the prices are inflated due to the convenience of the store. I've often popped here late at night to get more supplies for a party. The staff are generally polite and friendly, but after a certain time at night you have to shout to them through a counter on the outside so it can they can seem a bit annoyed having to run off to the shop floor to get what you are asking for, but as this is the stores policy it is unavoidable.

It's also quite a large Shell garage -- there are quite a few pumps and the shop is a reasonable size with a good range of stock. The prices here always seem to be quite competitive, and when you add in the generally friendly, helpful customer service you can hopefully understand why I would give this garage five stars and a firm recommendation.

The services are 24 hour, and are located near Runcorn, just past the city of Chester. The services are quite small but have an ample car park. On the outside of the services in a seating area, and a small grassy verge with trees, separating the area from the motorway. At the entrance to the services is a dog bowl filled with water and an AA stand. Further inside, there's a Wimpy, which is closed at nighttimes, a Costa coffee bar, an ordinary cafe area and a WHSmith, which has the usual stands outside filled with books and special offers, such as camping chairs and waterproof jackets or fleece jackets. Behind these are the toilets. The toilets are clean and there are many of them. Before entering the toilets there is a useful area containing boxes of leaflets for local attractions, and a mobile-phone charging station, which allows visitors to charge their phones, securely. The WHSmith is quite impressive - it stocks a range of foods and drinks, magazines and newspapers, CDs, maps and books. They always seem to have a lot of special offers on too. The Costa coffee is a bit hit and miss, though. Because it's often quiet, they tend to use the chairs to separate areas, which means going outside on the terrace is sometimes not allowed. On a few occasions the coffee has been lukewarm, and once, they had run out of ice, and a customer was given an iced latte that wasn't even cold (I overheard them complaining about it).

I came back after 9 hours, I'd had no phone call or updates all day. I was told by the young man that greeted me that my 11 years old car was too old and he couldn't even get a quote for parts. I was surprised and taken aback and amazed that they hadn't even called to let me know. I started to ask if they might still try again to get the parts and was rudely and aggressively shouted at. The man then turned to walk away. I had to ask if I could have my key and without looking back he shouted over his shoulder, it's in the car. It was not in the car, and I had to come back in for it. I understand that not all faults can be repaired. But I did get this repaired elsewhere and it was less than an hour and an easy part to obtain. Even after a bad day there's no need to be rude to people who are in need of assistance and paying for your service.

Advisories from earlier tests were not identified on further tests, despite the work not being done, and work was recommended when not essential. How often do you compare the previous years certificate with the new one? The most serious problem was the missing of a ball joint issue which failed less than 4 months after testing despite almost £400 worth of work having been recommended/done. Fortunately it failed on a car park not a motorway but the vehicle had to be scrapped! Will not use again.
