My boiler/burner was over 35 years old. We had it tuned-up every year, and while nothing was wrong w/ it, I thought it was time to upgrade. Todays boilers are way more economical and I didn't want to be stuck in the middle of winter making a snap decision if my boiler/burner failed. I also wanted to upgrade my outdoor oil tank, and have a new oil line run under my foundation to the boiler/burner. I had the pleasure of meeting Tragar's Consultant Vinny DiDaniele, who gave me good input, in depth explanation, and a fair price. We went with a Peerless boiler and a Riello burner. Vinny arranged to have the Installation Supervisor Steve Chapin come over for a pre-inspection. Steve was professional and polite and explained more of what the job entailed. He returned to my home upon the jobs completion to make sure everything was satisfactory, and it was. Tragar worked in unison with Viera Repairs & Installations. They were an awesome group of guys that worked extremely well together. The boiler/burner, oil tank, oil line installation was completed in one day. I had my annual cleaning and maintenance, and Sam was super professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He invited me to hang out while he worked if I wanted to (which I did, because I'm interested in the work), and encouraged me to ask any questions that I may have. After the work was completed, and we ran tests of maxing out the heating system and hot water, Sam went above-and-beyond, when the hot water test went a little askew. We had put such a huge demand on the system, that the water tank had stirred up sediment and wasn't running hot at all. Even though we knew why, he didn't feel comfortable leaving me like that, he called in the supervisor to come check things out. The supervisor, Alex, came and verified that the work Sam had done was perfect, and had in no way caused the issue we were seeing. After a little while, hot water started to come back as the tank refilled, and the sediment dissipated. Sam and Alex showed such great professionalism and dedication to not leaving a customer with the perception nor the reality that something was wrong before they left. Thank you so much! read more

We chose Tragar to install a ductless mini-split system in our home for heating and cooling and we're so glad we did. Vinny came by to take measurements and provide us with an estimate. He was very thorough in his assessment and answered all of our questions regarding the process. We were then introduced to the installation supervisor (Steve C.) who showed up a few days before the installation date to figure out logistics (where the systems would be installed and whether it would be feasible). The install team showed up on time and executed the plan to perfection. They were fast, professional, and did a wonderful job. During a severe heat wave, with temperatures reaching the 90s and high humidity forecast for several days, our central air conditioning system failed. Tragar responded promptly to our call, scheduling an immediate appointment that same afternoon. Unfortunately, the compressor was found to be irreparable. The following day, Steve visited our home and provided a detailed proposal to replace our 20-year-old system. This is my first full year with Tragar since leaving another oil company after 36 years. Brendon K , technician, was amazing. His task was a tune-up of my boiler. He ran into a problem as a result of a minor sludge build up which resulted in the boiler not operating. After a methodical and sequential assessment and repair of the problem, the boiler began to function normally. This was due to Brendon's professionalism and knowledge. He was friendly, engaging in conversation, and respectful of my home. I use Tragar for oil delivery/service to two homes and recently had the burner serviced based on the recommendation during our annual cleaning. Carlos was great! He showed up earlier than I was expecting (a good thing), he was friendly yet professional, he did the work in less time than expected and even cleaned the area really well (there was some staining on the floor from a leaking release valve). Though it was expensive, his suggestion to replace the coil made sense and was good for the long run. I would highly recommend him. Tragar seems like a family-owned company (which is great) and sometimes acts like one. Slow to respond to emails/requests, a little less than polished at times. The annual renewal process leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Adam T. came off as very professional and courteous. He mentioned our water heater was old and leaking and told me of problems I may incur in the future. He showed me where it was leaking yet never hard sold me on buying a new one. Told me Tragar can send a guy over to discuss the cost. Also mentioned a chimney cleaning is in order but not to worry. We asked him to give us a referral thru Tragar as we trusted this technician. Had a yearly maintenance call/ Check up on our new boiler system that we had questions on. Anthony Maderakis was the service gentleman who arrived. From the moment he entered our home he was respectful and courteous. He wore the mask and protective gear. Was EXTREMELY THOROUGH with his explanation of what he serviced and checked. I am overall really happy with Tragar. My AC went out and they were very helpful with getting this fixed ASAP before the hot weather in June really hit us. Carlos, the tech who came to fix it, was such a pleasure to deal with. He was keeping me informed of what was going on and was so nice in general. The customer service reps who answer the phones when you initially call them were very nice and accommodating. The price also was also reasonable, I did not feel like I was paying an arm and leg to get this fixed. I recently signed up for a service contract on my gas heat system with Tragar and in my first encounter with them today I am quite impressed. The service office told me that the technician would arrive between 300PM and 500PM but the service technician (Steve C) was actually about fifteen minutes early. In this instance the problem with the heat was my fault and he corrected the problem immediately. He also took several minutes and tutored me on the proper technique for bleeding my radiators from the boiler. This morning I called Tragar for the first time for emergency service. It was 20 degrees outside and the boiler wasn't working. Tragar was very responsive and sent Carlos Ordonez. Carlos called ahead and let me know that he was on his way and would be wearing protective gear because of COVID 19. Upon assessing the boiler, he went over the repair issues and options demonstrating integrity and transparency which is difficult to find these days. my burner is over 40 years old was leaking oil and coil leaking water. called trager they came in ten minutes. sent terry to repair. i needed a new burner nine years ago but trager told me they would keep changing parts since it wasn't in my budget to replace. now it has gone. jerry called his office to get me a price for a new one, i told him it was over my budget he called again and told the office and they lowered the price to my budget. i have had terry many times before not only is he a professional but he is very polite, cleans up and even wears shoe protectors working in my garage. ty terry and trager for always doing a professional job read more

I have two mini-split units that each have 4 air exchangers (8 total). Pretty big units for something "mini". The minis handle my A/C and heating. I don't use fuel oil or gas to heat the house, just the minis, so it's critical that the units are dependable in the worst of the winter. Installation was great and they handle the Long Island winter well. When I needed service, the same technician comes out (Steve) which makes it smooth because he's familiar with my setup.
