Cute little spot that I heard gets crowded so we went right when they opened at 11:30am on a Saturday. They have a huge selection of draft beer that rotates every so often. I couldn't decide what I wanted and they let me try a few to figure out which one I liked. My boyfriend and I shared the 3 meat combo with brisket, ribs, and tri tip. It came with a side of beans and option of potato salad or coleslaw. This was more than enough for the both of us. We had to take some to go! The brisket was tender and fatty - just how I like it. The ribs were where meat would fall off the bones. They have BBQ sauce on the table to compliment the meats. One spicy and one not spicy. As a born and raised Texan it has been hard to find BBQ that reminds me of home. That's until I moved to Morgan Hill and have a chance to try Train Dust. This cozy spot is located in downtown Morgan Hill. They have plenty of parking behind the restaurant and a parking structure next to that. The bbq is priced very similar to other bbq establishments in the Bay. Trail Dust offers a variety of meats daily including pork ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, hot links, and tri tip. The tri-tip and brisket usually have a nice smoke flavor and cooked perfectly. Trail Dust also has beef ribs usually mid week. If you do see beef ribs on the menu I would recommend giving them a try. The beef ribs are probably the best I've had in the Bay Area. They have a variety of other items on the menu including a ribeye steak, salads, and bbq sandwiches. I'm not a huge fan of the sides and usually opt to have an extra slice of garlic bread. The potato salad is probably the only side I would recommend. They have a great selection of craft brew (Alvarado, Moonraker, Humble Sea,etc) and usually have some limited cans available to purchase. The service was extremely friendly and they were so accommodating when we came here with our friends and my twin toddlers. They have a great selection of beer. We got a bunch of combo plates and tried all the meats provided. I loved the bbq sauce selection, but the dish that stood out to our group the most had to be the pulled pork. If you like pulled pork, definitely try it here. It has the perfect smoky flavor and is cooked to perfection. Most of the time, we pick up a pound or two of the pulled pork togo. After reading many reviews with great ratings today, my suspicion is that many of those rating have never had decent BBQ - and by BBQ, I mean Smoke BBQ. Ordered their brisket - $18.50! Oh my, about 50% fat and the salt? The salt overpowered the everything and the meat poorly smoked (indicates a lack of attention at the smoker). I would NEVER have served the meat to anyone I was served last evening! The "cornbread" was inedible and the slaw? A very ordinary slaw, but a decent dressing. And $9.00 for a beer. Service is tolerable - mainly because it is essentially stand-up-at register ordering. Ambiance is missing in action! Recommendation? Do not go unless you are prepared to spend a lot for very poor-quality BBQ! read more

There is indoor and outdoor seating and the customer service is ok here (not the most welcoming or attentive but the server answered questions I had about the menu and wasn't not rude). I went here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend and was seated right away inside. I got the tri trip salad and was happy with the quality of meat and the portion size. Updating my review from Oct. 30 2024. I ended up going back to their sister restaurant (BBQ 152) especially to try the brisket again. One star is way too generous for this place. Visited today and was deeply disappointed in what this "restaurant" has become. Gone is the bar and fun atmosphere as well as anything remotely recognizable as service only to be replaced in what can be best described as a soup kitchen. Instead of being greeted by a host, shown to your table and handed a menu, now you walk up to a bored millennial and place your order like you would at any fast food joint. They then ask for your phone number so they can text you when your food is ready. No little puck that buzzes and heaven forbid they actually call your name, that would be just far too courteous, now you get a text from ten feet away. The downward spiral continues once you get your food. My girlfriend and I ordered two different BBQ meals each coming with two sides. Both were served on what only can be described as prison quality tin baking sheets with the sides served in plastic cups as if we were in a homeless shelter. Everything was as bland and tasteless as you would imagine and we left more food on the plate than we did in our bellies. And to top it all off I spent $70 bucks for the privilege. Talking to the manager did absolutely no good as he was little more than a corporate tool who gave basic answers amounting to "oh well, that's what corporate wants" Keep your money and bypass this embarrassment. Awful experience! Let me start by saying I never do reviews unless the experience was horrible. This was. The place was empty and the cashier didn't even greet us when we walked up. The male cashier was SO rude and literally rolled his eyes at my 83 year old dad when he asked a menu question. As I was ordering barely acknowledged me and was hurrying me along. Again, no one was in the place and I was ordering for 5 people. My son asked about sides and the cashier rudely pointed behind him at the menu on the wall. Anyway, $80 later and we didn't even get a thank you. He handed me the receipt and walked away. We sat outside and the young girl who brought us our food was at least polite. The food comes and we were shocked. The portion sizes were a joke. $20 for a large that was literally an 8" sandwich with minimal meat in it. The medium was a small bun with minimal meat. And the sides came in a tiny little cup that was no more than 4 bites. We left the place hungry and mad. Wasted $80, were treated like crap and then left hungry. Don't waste your money. read more
