To use the range, Miami-Dade requires you take their safety course to be certified for 3-years. Yes it's annoying. Yes it defeats the concealed carry permit requirements. However, if the money goes towards the range and the wages of the employees I do not mind. Because at the end of the day, safety is paramount. Structured time and shot limits. The range safety officers are always watching to ensure all users are paying attention, which makes me feel safer. read more

Trail increased the rate from $6 to $9 for each skeet round and did away with the membership card I had just paid $100 for. Now they increased the rate to a whopping $12 per skeet round. When you factor in ammo at $13 or $14 for a box of shells- that's about $25 to $26 every time you shoot a round there. Meanwhile Markum Park in Broward is charging $10 and Markum is way better run than Trail Glades where customer service is horrible, the machines are always broken, bathroom is filthy, and there are never enough pullers on the skeet and trap fields. Now they wat $12 a round!!! ??? HORRIBLE PLACE!!! read more

Most of the range employees are sarcastic and rude. Don't come here if you're trying to have fun. I get there are rules for safety, but these rules will be weaponized against you unfairly whenever someone feels like it. The class they require you to take isn't a class at all. They make you pay to listen to someone explain the rules of the range to you. It's pretty condescending and a waste of your time. This place takes all the fun out of shooting. I enjoyed my visit very much. First time visitor, and the funniest contrast is between the half of the staff that treats you like a VIP guest and the half of the staff that treats you as if you were a 5-year old at a crystal store. Understandable, if you have ever worked with public and are dealing with stuff that was designed to kill, but funny nevertheless. I can't compare with other ranges because, as I said, it was my first time in a real one with a real gun, but overall liked the experience. And it's pretty inexpensive, even if you take in account that I arrived really late, and all first-time visitors need to take the gun-range safety 15-minute class, so all in all I only shot for about 40 minutes or so. So the $14 for 3 hours became $14 por 40 minutes, plus the $8 class, and I still think It worth it. The staff is alert at all times, which is good because, yes, as a first timer you sometimes walk over the red line when you're not supposed to (I feel safer knowing they are ready to call you out the very second you approach an area that may be unsafe). Also, they keep repeating all the safety measures over an over. Which would be annoying at a theme park, but very very appreciated in a place where live ammunition is being used. The only complaint would be that the vending machines weren't working, and even then, there was a lady selling gatorade and sodas, so it was good. So I loved it all around. I really like this range. I feel safe, staff are very attentive. Very nice range out to 100 yards. You can put your target at different distances 25, 50, 75, or 100 yards. you'll need to take a safety class if it's your first time. Has a rifle lane, a pistol lane, and a section for trap and skeet shooting. I usually go on Friday and it's not busy. I wish I could go every week. read more

I will be as impartial as possible. This range is solid to bring family and friends to. The range is outdoors and great for breathing fresh, lead-free air. Safety is a priority here as the RSOs are always on top of every move you make that may put someone in danger. The place is clean and lanes are well kept. Staff displays professionalism and willingness to help if you were to need it with your firearm. The only reason I didn't provide 5 stars is because this would not be a range I go to if I wanted to go plinking or just want fast follow-up shots. 1 shot per 5 second just leaves too much to be desired. Visiting the gun range can be an intimidating experience if you've never handled a firearm before. It can also be a walk in the park for those that our experienced in multiple firearm types and calibers. Therefore, some of the rigorous or maybe tedious rules and regulations at this specific location and be annoying to some but they are there for a reason. To insure the safety of everyone just looking to have a good time. If you've never been to this specific range you are required to take a standard basic safety course. The class is about 20 minutes and it's the bare minimum basics on safety at the range. You are given a range card that is good for 3 years. From there you are given specific and strict instructions on when to cross into the shooters section and when and when not you can begin to shoot. When the range is hot you can cross the designated section and begin to shoot at your target. When the range is not hot, you must must remove any ammo from the firearm, place the firearm down and make sure it's visible with no ammunition in the chamber. The range monitors will be passing by to make sure you firearm is clear. The range monitors will be regularly passing by to make sure your adhering to the rules. They are strict, picky, attention to detail and non-forgiving. Don't give them slack or give them talk back, they are responsible for everyone safety in a range full of patrons with guns, so they need to be firm. The range it self has sections for handguns, shotguns, rifles and skeet shooting. The range has 20, 50, 75 and 100 yard target selections. You can shoot as many firearms as you like in there appropriate shooting section, however one firearm at a time can only be shot. This isn't the wild wild west. There is no rapid fire or double tapping. They do have a section where you can buy refreshments, no food and rent shotguns for skeet. It's a great place for those beginning to shoot and experienced shooters. I recommend this location for those who are interested in learning or if your just calibrating your firearms, zeroing it in or just enjoy your right to bare arms. read more

This is my favorite range in south Miami. Just by being outdoors makes this range the best in my opinion and also they run the place very good.. They're very attentive and aware of their shooters, always watching who knows what they're doing and who needs more help. The price is great and they offer a lot more than just shooting, they have skeet shooting, runnning and gunning courses.. they offer classes for beginners as well as courses for the more for people that have knowledge already... you need to take a safety class with them before you're allowed to shoot. I went there 3 times already and so far I have no complaints.. The environment there is relaxed because time pressures are not so big compared to other ranges you pay hourly , Being outdoors is a big plus , not having to depend on the facility having good ventilation for a host of health reasons. its a great place to use rifles, up to 100 yards. Only reason I could see for coming here is if you want to get really good at slow fire bench shooting your 3-800000x optic at 100yards. I am an RSO and felt like I forgot how to handle a weapon thinking about all the antiquated rules they make you follow. Feels like you are walking on eggshells when you are here. There are a few outdoor ranges in south FL and this one is probably the worst of them. Pretty run down, target sticks are old (watch your hands for splinters), rude workers. They make you take a range safety course which is basically a 2 minute walk through most ranges give to new shooters. It's basically a money grab. And when your card expires instead of just charging you again, they make you take the stupid course again. If you haven't been to this range yet, good. Move on. Go to Markham or Homestead or The Ranch Gun Club. Stay away from this one. read more

Awesome range. I really like the focus on safety. If you are a first time guest they require a 20 minute class on general safety and rules of the range. Because of this I feel very comfortable taking my family to an open range as I can be confident that all shooters know the rules and how to conduct themselves for the safety of everyone. Additionally the staff are very attentive on the range to ensure everyone is in compliance. They offer very affordable prices for range time and it's a great opportunity to practice outside. Guns aren't really my thing, but this place is very organized and regimentally safe. A short safety class is required before you can shoot here. The announcers are very clear about when the line is hot and when it is cold so you can adjust your targets, etc. It's quite a drive from Miami (45 minutes) but it's worth it for an afternoon of entertainment if this is your kind of sport. It has the longest rifle range available closest to where I live so I'm happy. Of course I'd wish the range had even longer lanes but you take what you can get that's close. read more

This is a "target" range done right! Highly professional and very well sorted. Be advised, they don't tolerate carelessness well, which I like! If you're looking to teach your son or daughter or just looking for safe and serious professionalism, this is your place. They have a 30-minute course which is very informative, only $9 and required for all, no exceptions. Even if it wasn't required, I would recommend it. You shoot for 15-minutes, take a 5-minute break to adjust or look at your target, and begin shooting again. No rapid fire and no games, just serious shooters enjoying themselves. I like it very much although I must admit, the rules are a bit much to remember right away but they'll work with you if they see you know your place, so be respectful and recognize their primary goal is SAFETY! I'm sure you'll get it by your 2nd visit. They also have skeet shooting for old-school sporting fans, PULL! If you prefer more lenient shooting, try Ace's in Doral or Florida Gun Center in Hialeah. "I don't teach girls." Mike, our friendly trap master, put out his hand for me to shake. I considered responding with "I don't shake hands with sexists," but my manners got the best of me. Five minutes later, as Mike took me forward and spent a full 10 minutes individually making sure that I had the correct posture and felt comfortable with the shotgun, I realized that Mike has an excellent deadpan sense of humor. This was my first time trap shooting, and it was a blast (hah, get it?). Although I'm not what you would call a good shot, with Mike's helpful tips ("you're hesitating - just shoot the dang thing!" "get intimate with the gun; pretend it's your husband"), I was able to make three out of my first round of 25 clay birds explode. I improved *significantly* to 4/25 on my second round (shh, 1 more pigeon is a huge improvement!). Although some of the expert old-timers put me to shame (hitting 22/25 consistently), I apparently did well enough to earn a clay pigeon from Mike as a trophy to take home. The trap shooting here is definitely beginner-friendly, and the price is right for $5 a round. The trap attendants are hilarious older guys who have had years of experience with guns, and they're completely willing to help you learn how to aim better, even if (possibly especially if) you're a girl. The location is a bonus; you're shooting across a creek on the border of the Everglades, where wildlife sporadically pops up in an attempt to win a Darwin Award. I had such a great time trap shooting with Mike at the Trail Glades Gun Range that we're going to start making this a monthly tradition. 5/5! read more

In keeping with boyfriend's birthday activities, I planned to take him trap shooting at Trail Glades Gun Range with some of his buds. We get there, check in, and head out to the field. "I don't teach girls and will only let experienced men shoot" WTF?! I really wish I was a trained assassin at that moment because I could have done without his chauvinist attitude. Old man, we shelled out a couple or so of Benjamins to be here and this is federal property and he would have a liability problem on his hands if he refused to make sure those who PAID for/WANTED to shoot could properly handle a gun and blatantly discriminated against women but of course I resisted because I just want to shoot shit dammit! We all sat bewildered and the men were a bit uncomfortable as they were trying to figure out who was the most experienced to teach the girls lmaoo yea that's pretty scary?! The old man came over and took us one by one to make sure us girls felt comfortable. Uh who are you and where is the old cranky guy with bad skin? As long as you don't back down, you got him and he warmed up to us gals quickly and was actually a nice guy. He later admitted he liked training women better than men because "Women Listen....men don't listen and my 3 ex-wives will tell ya" Ahh old man make joke, we friends now! Thinking of something to do for a Father's Day adventure, it was clear that pops would have liked this best! Having been to a few other ranges before, I liked this one better than certain others. Yeah, it's outside and in this Miami heat one might not want to spend a few hours sweating just to shoot some rounds off. Surprisingly, there was actually a steady breeze blowing the whole time. But, whether the wind is blowing or not, that's not why you're there. This range gives you the option to shoot pistols, shotguns or rifles(to a certain caliber) for however long your heart desires. Unlike other ranges that charge you by the hour, you can shoot until you basically run out of bullets without breaking the bank. Apparently, my bro-in law is a hoarder so we were there for the majority of the day. Didn't bring enough bullets of your own? What, you want to shoot a little longer but ran out? Not to worry, they do sell them there and they also rent guns too if you're interested. I found their prices very reasonable, $12 to shoot per person and you don't have to worry about a time limit. As any other range, you must have a membership card to shoot. That'll cost you 6 bucks and you have to take a safety course before they give it to you. Relax, the course is not that long. Just the basics of what you should and shouldn't do when you are out there and a run down of their rules. Once you get your card, you're good to go and it lasts for 3 years. They do have two different set ups of where you can shoot your guns. Rifles are shot to the left of the range and pistols are shot to the right of the range. You are only allowed to set up your station when the line is hot. Any other time you will be frowned upon and sternly noted! Safety is taken very seriously here and I have to say that's a good thing. At a place like this, one can never be too careful. Better to be safe than sorry! As for the actual shooting itself, they have 15 min intervals of when you are allowed to shoot. Every 5 mins, a set of beeps go off to notify you of how much time is left. Once the 15 mins are up, you shoot whatever is left in your mag and once everyone is done, you can go out and look at your handy work and see just how rusty you are. During that time, you can adjust your targets and set them up however close or far you want them to be. ***Snacks are highly recommended*** Given that food isn't exactly the closest thing to this place, you will become hungry during your stay. A little bite to eat before coming might tie you over until you're done but if not, then a nifty little treat would be your best option. They do have vending machines but with that, there is a limited choice to choose from. Plus, the machine might run out and then you're just screwed!! Best to bring your own! read more

An affordable outdoor range for the gun enthusiast you can shoot for hours without having to worry you spent too many hours in one lane specially when you go with a large group of people and everyone is waiting their turn it could get pricie. You are required to take a safety course and rules if you go there for the first time, you will then be given a card that you had taken the class and comeback for the next 3 years before you have to renew it. They have a separate range for hand guns and rifles. I find this place to be well run and the people who work there to be friendly. I've read some bad reviews about it but I've never found them to have any merit. The rules are somewhat strict but I have no problem with that. My assumption is that they have had a lot of irresponsible shooters go out there that are unsafe so they had no choice but to implement those rules. As far as the range is concerned I find it to be well kept and managed. I have no issues with it. I really enjoy going there. read more

I use to come here as a teenager with my grandfather and is is nice to see that 30 years later it is still an amazing place to spend time with your family and friends. We went four people and all but me had little interest to go. In the end I could barely get them out of there. I had to buy ammo there. Not a good idea. Bring your ammo or it will cost you. Also you need to take a safety class if it's your first time. Check out the times and organize your arrival so you don't have to wait for no reason. It's loud, take ear and eye protection. A public outdoor range ran by the county of Miami-Dade this range offers a few things. Rifle shooting up to 100yards, handgun range (pistol and revolver), and a recently much improved skit shooting area. Then you arrive you must attend a range rule class. In this class an employee goes over the range rules. They will not teach you how to shoot. The class give you a membership card which is good for 2 years. Once you have this class you don't have to take it again. Being that it is outdoors there are a few things to keep in mind: 1. I prefer this set up as compared to indoor range for new shooters. The outdoor setting helps with the noise and the echo. This makes it easier on new shooters. 2. You're close to the Everglades, there are many mosquitoes so bring repellent. 3. You're outdoors in Miami and although there is shade I suggest you use a long sleeve t-shirt and long pants. 4. Closed toe shoes are REQUIRED. The facilities are old but they are in the process of upgrading the place. The parking lot has been recently repaved as of Jul 2017. All in all a good place to shoot. read more

Here's the deal. This is the best outdoor range in Miami. 1. Great 100 yard range for rifle work. 2. The safety class.. The good, the bad, and the ugly. No matter what anyone says, everyone can benefit from a safety class. What sucks is having to take an hour prior to shooting. Be very, very careful around idiots. Spot these couch commandos and stay far away. I've seen two turds looking down the barrel, and other big no no's (muzzle direction, only point at what you intend to shoot) inside the range office to the extent that I moved my seating location. I want to give this places higher stars because I like shooting outside and it's only $6 for a target, however the guy who lets you on the range and gives you your target was a COMPLETE JERK (rude, wouldn't give me a target because he said he gave me one already when he had not, was all around just difficult). I think he has an issue with girls shooting guns, because he acted like a normal human being to the guys.... As Jennifer mentioned, it's HOT and you have to take a mandatory gun safety course in a trailer, which is kind of annoying. The shooting stalls are covered though, so you don't have the sun beating down on you. Handgun area is open. read more

I have gone here numerous times. Never had any problems with staff or anything. Just follow their rules and you have no problems. I see people breaking rules all the time there like going to the shooting podium to check their weapons after a cease fire has been called. You are supposed to be away from your weapon at this time so you can go down range to check your target. Then people want to get mad when they are yelled at. If you can't understand the rules go back to the indoor range. You must also take a safety class your first time there which is all of about 10 minutes. 9.00 for all day shooting should you want to can't be beat 1.00 targets. Only things that sucks is you can't have a target shaped like a human at all just round targets. read more

I cannot speak for the regular range side (rifles and handguns) as I only shoot skeet/trap. As a trap shooting regular there, I can say that there is probably no better place to shoot clay. If you are new to the sport, speak with the trap pro, Mike. Tell him you're new or need some help and he'll give you pointers as you shoot and help you work on your weaknesses. Ok, I am a teacher and when we sit down with a parent it is always better to start with a positive. Here is the positive stuff about Trail Glades; it exists as a shooting range in Dade County, and the skeet/trap area is excellent. Now the negative... The people in the shop are less than helpful, understatement. The range people seem less trained than they ought to be- my understanding is they are randomly selected from the parks department meaning teenage kids who have an uncle that works for the county. The guy I took the safety class from thought he was an extra in Scarface. Trail Glades works as a rife and shotgun range if you are shooting handguns go to Aces. read more

So, I decided to go shooting with my wife and a friend but didn't want to spend too much. Impossible right? WRONG! I did a quick Yelp search and decided that this was the place for me. Although I read that they offered trap/skeet shooting, we wanted to fire handguns so we asked about rental prices and whatnot. It turns out that they don't rent out handguns. You have to bring your own and you can buy their ammo if you need it. I thought this was going to be a huge let down but it turns out they do offer shotgun rentals for skeet/trap range, if we wanted to try. We had a blast! I was unsure at first because I've never shot a rifle before, much less at a small flying target popping out unpredictably, but the guy at the shooting station was helpful and taught us how to hold the gun, using proper posture, and also gave us tips about how and where to aim as well as how to follow through to help accuracy. Each "game" is 25 shots. There are five different stations to shoot from and you rotate with the other people each taking a turn to shoot. I think that explanation makes sense. Had a great time without breaking the bank like other ranges. I'll gladly come back for round two. And three. read more

I've been to ranges in NY, CT and now FL. Of all the ranges I visited and shot at, this is the most scenic. Likely because the grass gets to stay green all year and the ventilation system is fresh air, haha. It was my first time shooting my 9mm, and the staff descended with advice. All good! Not one bit of advice was wasted. I went from shooting on the 1s and 2s of the top and bottom left to 9s and 10s. Through the duration of my visit, a few people let me try out their 9mm. The staff member Evan even let me try out his 45cal. Overall, this is a beautiful range with sensible rules. By the way, there's nothing wrong with a 20min refresher course on safety ;) read more
