    Condors at transport stop.

Recent posts had me worried - but my trip and luggage transfer was without issue! I would recommend TransCanyon shuttle to the location you are starting so that you can just hike to your car and not worry about missing the shuttle if you are hiking slower than expected. Or at least staying the night you finish and then taking the shuttle the next day. They will leave on time with or without you. The overnight bag we brought to the north rim returned to BA lodge without issue using transcanyon. Jackie our driver was awesome and we stopped to see condors! We also used them for a lift to the North Kaibab trailhead from Grand Canyon lodge North Rim. It was expensive but convenient for a 5 AM start.

    North Rim -

Used this service from the south rim to north rim and from the Grand Canyon lodge to North Kaibab trailhead. Everything went as planned and the driver(s) were excellent. The only recommendation would be for earlier shuttle times to trail head. Five stars......

COST -- This bus is a FREE shuttle service from the several different locations around the Grand Canyon South Rim. As someone who studied Economics in University, the bus service is really not "free" because you have to pay a national park entrance fee. Lucky for me, I visited the Grand Canyon National Park on National Public Lands day so my admission into the park was free. BUS SCHEDULE -- The bus arrives every 10-15 minutes during the day. NAVIGATION -- First, when you arrive at the Grand Canyon, drive your car to one of the many designated parking spots. Upon parking your car, you will see signs for where to catch the shuttle. The shuttle takes you to several points throughout the Grand Canyon. My friend and I visited the South Kaibab Trail and the shuttle bus took us right to the entrance of the trailhead. We got on the Orange route bus. The ride was smooth and took just under 10 minutes from our starting point. I can't imagine if there were no shuttle buses to drive visitors around because as you know, the Grand Canyon is HUGE. But thank goodness for this free shuttle. If you're lost when you arrive or don't know where a shuttle bus is, there are people around willing to help or I recommend you visit the visitor's center. **** - 155 total reviews in 2019 - 364 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 14 December 2019

Location aside, the "hiker's stew" is genuinely an excellent stew. Good quality big chunks of beef and a really savory broth that lets you know just how long it was cooked. Some vegetables (corn) are likely canned, but that was both a minor issue and to be expected given the location. Overall it's genuinely very tasty. Salad was fresh but unremarkable. Cornbread was excellent. Cake was average. I do wish they had ice cream, but I understand the logistical difficulties there...

There's cabins and bunk houses that require a lottery 15 months in advance, which adds to the exclusivity of the experience. Steak dinner is offered by reservations only for $70pp U.S. From 8am- 8pm, there's a cantina open selling all the things you'd want while backpacking, including cold lemonade, beer, wine, snacks, and first aid items. This week, the canyon was bursting with color from all the flowers and vegetation growing after the heavy snow season. This was truly a special experience! The trail to Ribbon Falls/North Rim was closed at one of the bridges and the creek running too high to attempt a safe crossing, so we enjoyed a rest day and cooled off on the banks of the stunning Colorado River. We took pictures of the current ranch as big changes are underway with a new water system getting installed, which will impact access to the ranch for a while. Special mention to the staff, particularly Zach, who went above and beyond to show us hospitality. Also, best of luck to new hire Tyler as he settles into his new role at the ranch! The ranch is currently short-handed, and some of the staff are really feeling the stress, which is starting to show in their interactions with guests. Remember to be patient and kind. The bottom of the Grand Canyon can't be an easy place to live and work.

The lobby was extremely busy when we checked in, but they had plenty of staff at the concierge desk, so the process moved quickly and painlessly. There's no breakfast offered onsite, but they do provide discounts to several nearby restaurants, which was a nice perk. The location is perfect--just minutes from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the toiletries provided were surprisingly good quality. We also appreciated being able to park right next to our room, which made unloading and reloading luggage super convenient. The only downsides were our curtains didn't fully close, so we had to improvise with a hair tie, MacGyver-style, to make sure we had complete privacy. There was also a family with a dog that barked a couple times during the night right next door (pets are welcome here). Other than those small issues, we had a great stay and would definitely consider staying here again.
