If you have a choice DO NOT USE TRANSAMERICA LIFE INSURANCE. This company does not use any modern technology to allow customers to set up and manage their accounts. Everything they do is on paper and I am not talking about fillable PDF forms, I am talking old school read and write fill it out and send it via the post office. I honestly think they have stock in an Amazon rainforest the way they overwhelm you will nonsensical paperwork. The customer service is the worst, every person I spoke to gave me a different answer to cancel my policy. I sent these fools form after form after form, called every week for almost 3 months, and received ZERO statisfaction to cancel this insurance policy. The last time I spoke to the unhelpful customer service dolts they basically dared me to try and cancel the policy. OK.... game on dumba$$... I called my bank and put a stop to the auto withdrawl every month. Well worth the $30 fee. read more

While I opted out Transamerica auto enrolled me into a 401K. That was four months ago. I have spent countless hours attempting to ensure that the account I did not authorize was closed and my funds were returned. Four months ago when I began dealIng with this I completed all the necessary paperwork to closed the account they opened and get my money back. They acknowledged receipt of the paperWork and told me 90 days to get a refund. I know find out that the person II spoke with did not provide an accurate explanation. The account is still open and I still don't have my money back. At this point it's not the money, it's the principle. They signed me up after I opted out. They put the monkey on my back to fix the mistake. They tell me the check is in the mail and on there survey want to know if I will recommend end them to friends and family. If I could give no stars I would; this is a scam and fraud; they do no pay the beneficiaries and will not pay anything; we have sent in everything to their so called fax number; we even mailed everything certified return receipt and they are saying they didn't receive the document where we paid funeral home in which we did and also power of attorney in which there was no form; all our siblings signed with SSN's. A warning to consumers of buying any products from TransAmerica they sell is a waste of your money; you are better off to save what you would have paid to the pond scum people are. Stay away, if you can, from the annuities in this company. Maybe you want to stay away from annuities altogether, but this company has been nothing but trouble. First, you just won't be able to even get in touch with the company. Today, my husband spent 33 minutes on hold, just waiting to ask a question. Then, they tell him that they mailed a letter to us 16 days ago. Finally, the secretary reads us what is in the letter, but can't answer questions about the topic, of course. read more

My rant of the month..Transamerica Investment. April I was notified that They would start charging a fee for investment under $5000.00 a month. My IRA was about $1200 or so and I had been with them for 5 or so years. So I started the process to avoid the fee which would start June 1. Well a long story short . I do not recommend anyone get life insurance from Transsmerica. My mom purchased the policy 41 years ago for my dad from Monumental. Monumental paid the funeral director for my moms policy within 14 days that was 19 years ago with less technology. My dad passed on October 19, 2014. They received the claim in November as of this date I have not received the check. I was told they mailed the check on January 6, 2015 from Cedar Rapids it's January 16 and I still haven't received my money. They are very inefficient and if I failed to pay the policy for 70 days they would drop me. DO NOT BUY LIFE INSURANCE FROM THEM IF YOU DONT WANT TO WHAT A QUARTER OF A CALENDAR YEAR TO PAY THE FUNERAL HOME, FUNERAL HOMES CHARGE INTEREST AFTER 30 DAYS. We've had a fixed annuity policy from this location for over 20 yrs. and receive automatic electronic deposits monthly. We've had annuity payments from other companies with the same arrangement and TransAmerica is the only one where the payments are not predictable--the date can vary by 4 or even 5 days, making it very difficult to manage finances. I've gotten used to that even tho' I don't like it. However, this week we had an emergency situation arise when we really needed a decent response from them and didn't get it. Far from it! Our primary checking acct. had to be closed due to a fraudulent check, and a new acct. opened. I contacted 6 different companies (inc. Bank of America) and the response was quick--except for TransAmerica. I tried to utilize their web site but it refused to recognize our account, so I had to phone them. Of course their phone lines are only open when most people on the West Coast aren't available to call. I did get thru only to be told that their "policy" demanded that the new acct. info. be transmitted BY MAIL and their rep refused to provide even the most basic, general info. by phone about how the process worked! So it will take days if not weeks to get the new acct. into their system due to the snail mail requirement. The excuse was "security" but obviously the U.S. mail has to be one of the most insecure means of transmission. I am almost looking forward to our annuity coming to the end of its term so I will never again have to deal with TransAmerica.
