Interestingly enough they don't call or text you days before the appointment, so it's a win win for them because they charge $75 for no show and your copayment fot the day as well. And they don't keep your file after a month, so if for X or Y reasons you can't go they erase you from the system and then you have to fill out all the paperwork again. My personal experience was very bad and shady. Don't go there.

We sought out her assistance/help as roughly six months ago my husband and I hit a breaking point (in full disclosure) with many life changes going on (cross-country move, differences in habits/space, job-related change etc.). To be transparent, I felt (because of the circumstances) we were on our last leg. The only thing I could think of to help was maybe therapy so I looked online and saw Lotus (and Victoria) had good reviews and instantaneously requested to book a session with her. I had been to two other relationship counselors in another city from some time ago that did not help at all, so was not quite confident (even with seeing good reviews about this center) that our situation could be helped. I have to say I was wrong about my doubts. Victoria was very easy to talk to, listened objectively and provided some strategies and exercises that truly caused us to think differently and apply different methods which started to improve our daily interactions. I also like that she is direct and honest. She is not one of those therapists that asks 'how does that makes you feel' while scribbling on a note pad and looking at you robotically like you're a specimen in a lab. Of course she cares about how you feel and does ask, but she also has personality and gives her opinion/thoughts to you straight while showing empathy at the same time. She does not take sides, but if you are acting in a way that's not being constructive to yourself or your partner, she will let you know. I like that direct approach, but it is not in a harsh way.. it is straightforward and meant to help, which in our case, it did! She truly cares about your progress as an individual and a couple and this has been evident in her work with us. My husband and I, after starting on very shaky ground prior to seeing Victoria, are at a much better place in our relationship, have been communicating ten fold better, have gotten the *spark* (romance) back and honestly feel that we are doing better now than when we were in the 'honeymoon' phase of our relationship (we have been together almost 7 years). We were doing therapy once a week and still plan to talk to/see (after Covid 19 situation improves) Victoria for 'tune ups'/check ins as needed (I believe therapy is not a bad thing to partake in, even when things aren't at their worst), but can say that the bulk of our challenge/mission has been complete and my husband has mellowed out significantly (thank the Lord, Amen! lol). In all seriousness, I highly recommend Victoria and Lotus Counseling Center for your counseling needs, especially couples counseling (since this is what I can speak on). We can't thank Victoria enough and the whole staff there is very nice and professional (and handles insurance billing in a competent manner as well). Stay safe out there folks and hope everyone finds themself mentally and emotionally balanced during these Covid times. God bless.

After several serious issues which needed addressing, I had a conversation with her and Lucy Fernandez, in charge of the office, in which I at least felt Ms. Fernandez validated the actual evidence of issues I had because of this person. Today, Ms. Fernandez wrote me to ask I remove my negative review because "we both understand how important these reviews are." I did so to avoid future communication with the office. Then I realised I do know how important they are which is why I wrote it in the first place and decided I needed to keep this truth here. Not everyone has a negative time, in fact, as I previously stated, I had worked with two other professionals here who for whom I have only the highest praise. But Ms. Rahman has no regard for patients and now I see her superior holds stars on Yelp more important than a patient's warning to others in the same vulnerable position. I would've respected her asking me to update my review after our conversation to credit her efforts (again Ms. Rahman only furthered her negative qualities throughout the talk) but this I found to be a form of bullying for self-advancement. Unfortunate for a mental health care professional. Our relationship has now ended with me asking they refrain from future contact with me.

My fiancee had four sessions with Mirta Pont for EMDR therapy through Coral Gables Counseling…read moreCenter. Mirta was great, and made her feel heard. EMDR is a strange and unique therapy that helped my fiancee work through a lot of trauma in her past. Mirta made real progress with her, and she is a great therapist. Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with the staff and the cost of the sessions. We originally paid for 100% of her appointments out of pocket. This was $175 for each appointment. The staff assured us that our insurance will cover most of the therapy, and told us that we would get a refund of any excess payment after insurance got back to them with the exact amount. After her second appointment, we wanted to hold off on scheduling more sessions until we knew exactly how much it would cost. The staff insisted that we continue to make appointments every week. We were worried about the cost, but since they told us our insurance would likely pay for most of it, we continued to make more appointments. Our insurance eventually returned the claims and said they will be paying 0%. Apparently this is a very unique situation, and the staff was dumbfounded with this. They made a mistake in reading our coverage. I asked if they could refund half of the cost of my fiancee's sessions, since they made a mistake in telling us that our insurance would cover this. They said they would not be refunding anything. I would not recommend working with this group. Mirta was great as a therapist, but the Counseling Center was not there to help us after they cost us hundreds of dollars with their mistake. We called them several times and spoke to several people, but they never sent us back any of our payment. I hope that maybe they will rethink this decision and write us a check for half of our lost money. If that happens, I will update this review accordingly.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bhatia since 2019. His approach is warm, welcoming, patient,…read moreattentive, empathetic, understanding, and non-judgmental. He always advocates for his patients and is in the best interest for everyone. My experience with Dr. Bhatia's service throughout the years is that he always listens to everything I share in-person, virtually, and through Patient Portal messages. Whenever he recommends a treatment or medication, he explains everything thoroughly, shares why and how he thinks the treatment/medication can help, and provides many resources. It was because of him that I went to see a sleep specialist for a sleep study and found out that I have a neurological disorder as well. My previous doctors always dismissed my concerns about my symptoms, so I am grateful that Dr. Bhatia always goes above and beyond. Dr. Bhatia suggested I try PHP or IOP, so I tried PHP through a behavioral health center for 3 days and decided it wasn't for me because it was virtual at the time due to the pandemic. Last year, he helped me with my FMLA process because I was in a work situation that aggravated my symptoms significantly. He came up with a treatment plan and we met every two weeks to go over my progress. He also had me take a DNA medical test to help figure out which medication may or may not work for me. It was really helpful and gave us an insight on what other medications I could try. I also tried EMDR with Angela. The appointments were virtual and she helped me process some childhood traumatic memories. Earlier this year, Dr. Bhatia suggested I try Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Since I am treatment resistant to most medications, I was excited to try TMS. I met with Laura at the new Coconut Grove office and she was really heartwarming, genuine, and knowledgeable. She kept me updated on the authorization process with my insurance. When my insurance didn't approve it, Dr. Bhatia, Dr. Perez, and Laura continued to try other ways to help get me approved. Dr. Bhatia provided an extensive letter stating why I am a good candidate and how TMS could benefit me. It meant a lot to me that they continued to advocate for me. When I received the news that I was finally approved for TMS, I was really excited and thankful. I had a consultation with Dr. Perez, who was really patient, knowledgeable about TMS, and understanding. Laura and Dr. Perez put a fabric cap on my head and marked the spots where the TMS device would go. I went to Elevate Psychiatry every weekday for 36 sessions (30-minute per session). The magnetic pulses felt like a head massage for me and it was nice to talk to Laura, Mel, and Britney, who helped administer the TMS treatment every session. They asked me about my moods, caffeine use, and sleep quality. After my last TMS session, they gave me a written card. It was a really nice gesture and made me tear up. TMS helped me feel better and have relief. During my TMS treatment, I also did 1-2 talk therapy sessions a week, tried to incorporate exercise and a healthy diet on a regular basis, practiced mindfulness, and attended peer support groups. I worked part-time to have more time to focus on my health and be able to pinpoint my symptoms and side effects better. I was told there are options if I regress, such as maintenance TMS or another full 36 sessions if it's severe, and maybe medication. They also do weekly TMS support groups for patients currently or who finished their TMS sessions. I highly recommend patients to book several appointments in advance because they get booked really quickly, and work on your lifestyle outside of psychiatric care. Medication or treatment alone will not solve the issues, it's important to work on your lifestyle, diet, exercise, coping skills, perspective, stability, and more. Please be respectful to the staff members, doctors, and the building's security guard. They are trying their best to help. If you don't like something or someone's service, say something, so they can improve or figure out how to help you better. They are not mind readers, so be sure to communicate and track your journey. The new office in Coconut Grove is really nice, cozy, and welcoming. I love the staff and appreciate their services. The Patient Portal is really user-friendly. You can book, reschedule, cancel, and check into appointments, send secure messages, go over your medical history and documents, and request forms. The office is really up-to-date with the technology movement in my opinion and is active on different social media platforms providing resources and educational materials. They accept many types of health insurance plans and will try to work with those who are in financial need. The parking spots in the parking lot are not ample, but if you go early, you can snag a spot easier. Otherwise, there's street metered parking.
