ROUGHING IT When…read moretraveling through the island of Sicily you'll find many opportunities to stay at unique B & B locations. This location is about 20 minutes away from Trapani. When you arrive and park in the lot, you'll first notice the pool and on a hot August afternoon you'll want to jump right in to cool off. This location is very well established. They have several rooms plus a restaurant. It feels more like a motel and not a cute and cozy B & B. When we checked in we were told the pool closes at 7pm which seemed like an odd time considering we were in the middle of no where. Then we realized why this was happening while swimming. The staff was setting up for a private party next to the pool. The staff was also playing music for themselves and not the guests in the pool while setting up. This is never a good feeling especially when you are a guest and you booked a room to enjoy the pool. We felt pressure to cut our visit into Trapini short because we wanted to get some pool time in before getting kicked out of our pool. The mattress was probably the softest mattress in all of Sicily. The a/c in our room wasn't working great at all. I had to keep adjusting the remote controller until I finally got the unit to blow some cool air. Our room had a ton of flies in the room and I had to kill a bunch myself. It was really annoying. With the insufficient a/c and the flies in the room, we couldn't even open the window because our screen had a hole in it. This explains the flies. We really felt trapped when in our room. My wife said the room felt like a military barracks. We had dinner in the restaurant. It's a great view to enjoy sunset. The evening sky lit up like it was on fire. The food was just okay and I was a little let down. It was the first underwhelming meal we've had in the last 10 days of traveling in Sicily. I'd recommend the free house made bread with there house made olive oil. I'd also recommend the Gnocchi di pistachio and the grilled chicken. The pork chop was dry and over cooked. The veal isn't really veal and had a lot of fat and was chewy. It was a very tough piece of beef. The sausage was good and dense but very dry and over cooked. The house made pasta was okay and the tablespoon of red sauce was not enough to cover it. The team waiters were good but they kept trying to take our dishes away without asking. I really hate this. Don't grab my dish while I'm still eating because it's annoying. Breakfast was okay. You had to cut your own salami and bread with the dullest knife in the world. It was like a food challenge. If you could cut it, then you could eat it. There were definitely health violations with ever hotel guest touching the food. If you wanted orange juice you had to squeeze it yourself too. We definitely had to work for our breakfast. We stayed at many B&B's in Sicily and the breakfast was our least favorite at this location. It didn't feel special while staying here. We also didn't care for the room. It was very dark and the lack of air conditioning made the room uncomfortable. We would definitely not come back.

This was a beautiful hotel with a great location across the street from the Chiesa Madre di San…read moreTomasso di Canterbury. There were lots of people walking around and we felt fairly safe. There were alley ways all around and every street was lined with marble. It was very quiet in the hotel. They have two small elevators for guests. We had a suite with a king size bed and upstairs there was a large closet area and another bedroom with three twin beds. Lots of room! The restroom was large with a shower, toilet and a bidet. They have breakfast for €7 or €9. Forgot how much exactly. We opted to forego their breakfast and instead go out to explore the surrounding area and grab breakfast elsewhere.

The short trip out to Mozia is a good experience on the shallow water of the bay. The boat is…read morerather small and the speed limited. This enjoyable experience is a nice prologue to a visit on the island. The atmosphere is easygoing and the staff is very helpful with any question that arises during the trip.

But the rest. Situated by a beautiful bay with the waves rolling in with Monte Cofano right at your sight. Even the top of Eriche is seen from the terasse. The people running Pocho are extremely nice and friendly and help you out of interest. This place is a scoop.

Between the two cities Trapani and Marsala you'll find the old salt district. Salt from the sea. Right here is Relais Antiche Saline. A charming secluded hotel at the end of the road in connection to an excellent restaurant just a few steps away, passing alongside some of the very many salt basins. The hotel is in perfect shape with a nice garden and a swimming pool. For the interested travelers; we are in Nubia where they grow the world famous red garlic. When leaving your bags are full of them. And that's a promise.
