This is a solid place to eat whilst in the literal middle of no where. This was our second stop on a weeks long camping trip and we didn't feel like cooking so were relieved to find this place and know we didn't have to. We ordered apps, drinks, burgers and a steak. I see others are disappointed in the lack of choices beyond that but- first of all- check your surroundings and adjust your expectations- second the meat is fresh. As in from the ranches in the area. Can't beat it. Why would they even need to offer more? The marg was incredibly sugary for my liking so I gave it to my husband who loved it. If you don't like sugary drinks, they have a decent selection of wine and beer to choose from, but I took my chances anyway knowing it might not be *exactly* what I wanted given my location. I was just stoked to order a fresh made margarita given my middle of no whereness. Would recommend this place, we all left happy and full...and the servers were very kind and welcoming. Stopped for dinner on our way out of the wilderness after a backpacking trip. Enjoyed watching the dozens of hummingbirds at feeders hung along porch as we sipped margaritas that had plenty of kick and nice fresh lime juice. We all had some version of a burger for dinner, and they were solid, as were the side salads. A bit disappointed in the 2 tablespoons of Mac and cheese that came with a $2 upcharge! We tried peach pie and brownie for dessert and both were terrific. Ambiance very lodge like (no complaints), and service super friendly (if not fast). read more

We had a great stay at Trappers Lake Lodge with Becca, Alan and the crew of friendly professional people that run this beautiful lodge. It was a perfect place to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature amid the peaceful surroundings that Trappers Lake offers. We had clear blue Colorado skies even though there were forest fires burning in parts of the state. We caught some really nice cutthroat trout as well as fat brookies from the boats that are available, and our buddy Mike got a fly fishing lesson on the White River with one of our Lodge guides also named Mike. The food at the Lodge was delicious and homecooked. Cabin 18 provided the perfect camp for the 3 of us, and the outdoor picnic tables and fire pit were a great spot to gather at the end of our days adventures, the Main Lodge balcony with the hundreds of humming birds was equally relaxing. Overall, I would highly recommend a long stay for anyone looking for solitude and place to regenerate your soul, with some of the nicest people you will ever meet taking good care of you. It is a beautiful Place, I have not stayed at the lodge (cabins), but I have eaten at the restaurant, which was good. Friendly staff. There are campgrounds and beautiful lake. The drive to the lodge is extremely beautiful with many aspens and breathtaking views. I would definitely recommend a trip to trapper lake, even if you do not stay at the lodge. read more

The menu is basically just burgers, with mediocre sandwiches. We ordered double shots for our margaritas and mules, both came with maybe one shot as we couldn't taste the alcohol in either. Our server, once our food was ordered, didn't return to the table for 45 minutes and was more interested in chatting with the staff than serving customers. On top of everything, flies are swarming inside and we were swatting them off our food every 5 seconds. Fly paper and better service would go a long way. A very poor experience. read more

This review is on the restaurant. As the six people in our party were nearly finished eating, a person with a large dog entered the restaurant and the dog immediately ran back to the kitchen. A worker from the kitchen came out with the dog so I think it must have been her dog. If you don't mind a cook having her dog in the kitchen, this place may appeal to you. Our food and service to this point was ok but a dog running thru to the kitchen and thru the restaurant is unacceptable. I will never go back. read more

I really thought that having new owners would raise this venue above all the rest but just the opposite has happened.  You pay an extremely high nightly fee for practically nothing.  Yes, you get a roof over your head and the beds arent half bad but thats about the extent of it.  You walk into the general store and are immediately hit with a smell of moth balls and mildew.  They are more concerned with new merchandise than fixing their coolers.  God forbid you should be able to buy a bottle of champagne, 6 pack of beer or a quart of milk, but hey, you can buy a $70 sweatshirt no problem.  You head to the bathroom and again, the mold and mildew will knock you off your feet.  They couldnt keep the paper towels or toilet paper filled nor take the trash out.  Time to gut the bathrooms and lay down tile to fix the mold issue.  The guys bathroom had only one working shower, the other was missing the knob.  You charge $165 a night!  You can't buy a knob for a shower?  It basically boils down to if you aren't doing a pack trip or buying an outfitter package, they arent interested in helping or smiling for that matter.  Beautiful area but completely and utter lack of hospitality.   No mimosas, no grapefruit juice and no fires (even though fire restrictions were taken off two days prior).  Oh yeah, and too busy for horse rides.  If I could give this place a zero I would.  Save yourself some money and camp down the road at a campground, it will be far nicer and save some cash in your wallet. read more

This place has a great vibe, friendly staff, and great scenery. I recommend setting up a horse ride with Rich. Can't say enough about how much fun we had! Oh, and bring your fishing pole. read more
