We had a very attentive waiter that explained the menu and gave us recommendations. Our food came out pretty quickly, and was definitely made fresh. The dish that stood out was the trofie con crema di gorgonzola, nduja piccante e noci. This dish had a nutty creamy taste with a hint of spice, and the noodles themselves were fresh, perfectly cooked, and the perfect amount of salt, where the noodles taste good by themselves, and with the sauce was just chef kiss. We only had one day in Venice and this place is a must. The food was delicious. We ordered drinks to start, Gin Lemon and Italian LOVE - so good! The bruschetta was so fresh and flavorful. The bread was crispy and soft, it was perfect. We ordered the grilled ribeye which came out sizzling on a cast iron. It had an amazing crust of flavor and it was tender. After our Gondola Ride, Grand Canal, St. Mark's Square and Doge's Palace excursions. We stopped by here for dinner. Their ambiance is pleasant, attentive server and foods are great as well! We ordered mixed fried seafoods with polenta. Although, we're not a big fan of polenta...their mixed fried seafoods were amazing! Their variety of pasta dishes were great as well! I was walking around and I hate to say it, there is a restaurant everywhere. I walked by and saw a couple having dinner and since it wasn't busy went in for dinner. I had their house salad and gnocchi with mushrooms and truffles. They were both delicious and filling. I also ordered a house wine and they brought out bread as well. All of it was fresh and tasty. Maybe less cuttlefish in the pasta than some other places and the liver doesn't seem to be on many of these set menus so is a good change of pace from the fish, cutlets, calamari. Not the best place to eat. Like many others I didn't looks to see the reviews, I was being optimistic. The service was ok, not as friendly as in rest of Italy. We didn't get any bread or any cheese to go with our meal. The 12% on top of per person charge is ridiculous. I would say this one is a tourist trap. If you're going to charge so much money for such small portion than it better be of quality. On the train ride home my stomach was not feeling so well after the meal. Definitely won't be back. The first course was a good sized portion of gnocchi In tomato sauce followed by a course of liver Venetian style ( cooked in a light sauce with onions ) with polenta and finally a salad. All of the dishes were well prepared. The last three were on the small side and served together rather than as two separate courses. But altogether a satisfying meal. We dined here tonight because it was open late and we saw the 4 star TripAdvisor sign posted. I was leary because the place was empty, but we were pleasantly surprised in the end. Our waitress, Stella, gave excellent recommendations. I had the lobster pasta, small serving (which was more than enough), and it was no where close to 50 euros as another reviewer commented. It was about 20 euros and worth every bit. My friends had vegetable lasagne, scampi, and shrimp pasta and we split the bruschetta. Stella was very attentive. She happily answered our questions about Italian dining etiquette and gave a great local perspective on Venice. Went to this restaurant because it was close to where we were staying and had the choice of a fixed price for a two course meal. The fixed price was 18 euro. I pointed to what I wanted on the menu for the first course and was brought what what I thought my wife ordered, but she told the waitress she wanted what I ordered and we were served something else. We ate it and said nothing. This first dish was gnocchi with a meat sauce and it was ok. Nothing special. The 2nd course was fried seafood and it was again mediocre at best. We ordered drinks as well. When the bill came, there were additional charges on the bill of 4 euro "coperto" and 12% service charge. Which added 12 euros to the bill. Our waiter pointed out the fine print at the bottom of the menu. This was the first time we encountered these charges at any restaurant or bar. SO BEWARE OF THE FINE PRINT!!!! The dishes came with a side of potatoes, but because it was neat midnight, we were told told that they no longer had potatoes and my only other option was salad. I took the salad. Horrible tourist trap!! Wish I could undo this experience. My boyfriend and I ended up eating dinner here because we saw a couple tables open and knew we wouldn't have to wait. First, the waiter who seated us was pretty rude and then took about 20 mins until he took our order (even for drinks). My boyfriend ordered the beef with arugula and I chose to opt for the cheapest thing on the menu because I needed to watch my budget. The cheapest thing surprisingly was linguini with lobster (12 euro), so I assumed there was a piece or two of canned lobster in there. The food... Mediocre at best. The pasta at the Cheesecake Factory is better than this. But it was edible and I was very surprised that there was a half lobster on the plate! Yes, small...but still a half lobster! I was shocked at what an amazing deal this was for the price! (Yeah right!) However, then the bill came... 2 dishes, a bottle of water and a beer ended up costing 85 euros! Turns out my lobster dish was 36 euros! Confused, we asked the servers who informed us that on the BACK SIDE OF THE MENU, they state that the lobster dish (listed for 12 euros) is per 100 grams! Oh, and it's written in ITALIAN, nothing in English. Don't get me wrong, I know lobster is pricey, but writing 12 euros without any further explanation and expecting customers to look for any hidden terms and conditions in Italian on the BACK SIDE of a menu is ridiculous! We had just been rude to at a much higher end restaurant that our hotel recommended so walked around and found this place. We didn't have a reservation but they found us a table and took our drink order. We ended up ordering three dishes to share between the two of us. The food was really good, the carbonara was out of this world!!! The front of the house staff was mostly a female and two brothers, all three spoke at least five languages. The spaghetti pomodoro was so average I'm certain my twelve year old sister could make it herself. Overall, the food was bland and average. Time for the check. You would think it would be easy to split a check since everywhere in Italy does so, but no, it was a 30 euro limit to split checks. I had the ravioli with cheese sauce- the sauce was really, ummm...unrefined...it was like spackle really...if you were finishing your bathroom and ran out of grout, you could use this sauce. If you needed to patch a tire, this sauce is your friend. If your boat springs a leak, fear not!, order the ravioli with cheese sauce. My wife had the spaghetti. She liked it. She's easy to please and really, how hard is it to eff up spaghetti? Oh wait...I just remembered my aunt's spaghetti... The thing is, the place was empty and that should have been clue one. The food was just mediocre, no one came to check on us ever and when we got the bill, there was a service charge of 4 euro which was fine (not really, but we've come to expect a wide range of 'service charges' in Italy). I paid the check but then the final receipt showed the 4 euro charge AND a 12% "city tax". When I asked the waitress what city was taxing us, she said it was because we were sitting there. Eating. Using utensils...and such. Ummm oookay. So we left feeling like we had been screwed again and quite frankly, unless someone is giving me a happy ending at one of these goofy Italian places, I'd like it to stop. My cousin and I stumbled upon this place after being really indecisive about what to eat. Boy, was that a mistake! We were seated quickly, but it took the waiter almost 15 minutes to come and bring us menus. I ordered the baked scallops, and SPECIFICALLY asked if they were fresh, because their menu specifically states that they substitute frozen fish if fresh is unavailable, and the waiter assured me they were, but when I ate them, they were tough and dry and not good- I have to assume they were not fresh. I also originally ordered the scallop appetizer, but the waiter told me it wouldn't be enough food (as if he knows my eating habits) and insisted I order something else. So I went with what he suggested- the scallops with pasta, and it was nasty, as I said before. My cousin had the chef salad which she said was fine, nothing special. It's a tourist trap. This place is a giant price scam. We went in thinking that the prices looked reasonable, for Venice - especially the "linguine with lobster and tomato sauce," listed for 7 euros on the front board. Imagine our surprise when we received the bill and found that the 7 euros was per 100 grams of lobster, and that the waiter had never seen fit to inform us of this fact, nor to actually ask how much lobster we wanted at the price of 7 euros per 100 grams. That single dish wound up costing 50 euros, and small hidden charges like 2 euro cover per person and 12% VAT just added insult to injury. The waiter was incredibly rude and hostile when we asked about the lobster situation, and was clearly expecting a fight. The lobster is a deliberate scam on the part of the restaurant. We counted three listings of the lobster pasta. In order of their prominence, and the clarity of the "per 100 grams" pricing - 1) at the top of the front board - 7 euros, with absolutely NO mention of the 100 grams pricing 2) at the top of the first page of the menu - 7 euros, with a parenthetical statement at the end of the English translation as the Italian "ettegrams" (a footnote at the bottom of that page lists ettegrams as equal to 100 grammes, but who would notice that) 3) in the English section of the menu, with a footnote pointing to the bottom of the opposite page listing "100 grams" in Arabic numerals The two menu listings were rudely and hostilely used against us when we tried to ask the waiter about the bill. I've traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America and have never felt as scammed as at this restaurant. To top it all off, the service was slow, the waiters were generally rude and hostile even about things like the free wifi (maybe they were afraid of us looking up reviews), and the food was mediocre. (How long does it take for liver to cook!!! liver is pretty much the fastest thing you can cook!) Everyone had already finished their food and when we confronted him about it he replied very rudely!!! THE BILL CAME SOONER THAN MY DISH!!! His supervisor came and at first she started defending him and telling us that we did not know what we ordered and that they make fresh food which is why my dish is late! I just think pizza takes longer than liver to cook, don't you think so too? At that point all we wanted was an apology, which took pretty damn long! We ended up paying for everything, even the wrong dish that the guy dropped on our table!
