After a tour of the Castillo Odescalchi, you may be hungry. Our group was, and the Trattoria del Castillo provided just the place for us to grab a fantastic meal.
As a large group, we each had the choice of a meat meal, or a seafood meal. You couldn't go wrong with either, but I chose seafood. We are only about 29 miles inland as the crow flies, and any chance to get fresh seafood like that means I will jump for it.
My appetizer was enormous and full of a variety of different seafoods prepared in different ways. The octopus and the pistachio-crusted shrimp were standouts. The "meat" people were kind enough to let me sample their charcuterie board, and nothing beats the fresh cheeses here in Italy.
My next course had small clams and what tasted like homemade gnocchi. Portions were more than generous, and the texture and flavors were so fresh on everything.
The seafood ravioli may be my favorite dish of my entire trip so far. It was sweet, fresh, and had an amazing flavor to it. I was so full by that point that I was grateful for a smaller portion size.
