This is a spectacular hidden gem -- hands down the best meal we had in the Fruili area (and exponentially better than the overpriced tourist plates we had in Venice). We had a wonderful three (four?) course meal; carrot soup to begin; delicious herb soufflé; pork carpaccio (with peaches) shaved so thin it practicaIly melted; then three first courses: spetzle (hearty, great), local delicacy (dessert-for-dinner) cherry gnocchi, and great ravioli. THEN three main courses made with real care and skill -- lamb chops, duck, and veal cheeks. It is a family affair this place, humble and homey except if your mom was a European chef. Homemade grappa if you ask nicely. This place is tucked into the scenic mountain town Stregna -- lots of bikers and hikers here -- and well worth a visit. read more
