The service - I suspect by the owners - is very personal. And the food is divine. I started with a simple Minestrone, which was enough to be a meal on itself, and loaded with fresh veggies. So good, I could have stopped there. At the owner's recommendation, I had the ravioli filled with mushroom. I was absolutely in heaven. The pasta was light and perfect, the mushroom filling just savory enough, and the cream sauce just divine- good enough to sop up with the complimentary bread, which I'd otherwise avoid. The wine list is short but high quality. The panna cotta is delightful. The crowd was International but not touristy, and mellow. I can't wait to return.

For dessert, I got the tiramisu which was quite tasty but had too much cream. The actual cake part was moist and tasty, really liked that part. Service was meh, was a bit difficult to ask for items but to be fair, she had quite a big crowd to serve.

They offer several omelets on their breakfast menu, and I landed on the 7.50-Euro Calzione Contadina with bacon, onion, potatoes and lots of butter in what looked to be at least a three-egg concoction with sliced tomatoes and cornichons on the side (see photo). Hearty stuff at the beginning of a tour day. A big cup of Cappuccino for 3 Euros nicely complemented the meal (see photo). Service was a bit scattered, but I'd come back if only to try the pizza. I've been visiting Berlin with help from TimeOut Berlin. It's an okay book - though the restaurant options aren't as vast as I had hoped for. This seemed like the best option in the area. I had an English speaking waiter who was quite nice and I sat outside in the back. They have a nice garden with happy birds chirping, fresh herbs growing, and flowers. As an Italian food lover I was able to figure out the menu - it is mainly in German and Italian. They have a nice Italian wine list, and I ordered a white blend by the glass, a small bottle of still water and the ravioli. The ravioli was homemade - stuffed with ricotta and spinach. The sauce was light and buttery, and fresh basil graced the top of the dish. The bread was house made and not bad, with olive oil and vinegar as a side. While I did sit outside, the inside was nice and contemporary, clean as well. It's a great spot for a leisurely lunch and a nice escape from the gift stores and sausage joints.
