Recently a neighbor adjacent to my property utilized Travers for an extensive tree topping and pruning of six large trees. In reviewing their web site, Travers notes their commitment and passion in providing quality tree care, with crews that are knowledgeable, experienced ... with attention to detail. They also note their insurance coverage and safety record. After noticing a large amount of debris and branches nearly covering many of my newly planted perennials, I raced outside to request more care and respect for the shrubbery and plants. Due to commitment, I needed to leave only to return to observe several plants damaged, and days later more damage to previously thriving plants. Fortunately with security cameras a record of their disrespect and careless disregard for my property exists. I called their office, speaking with Evelyn who apologized and said she would notify their estimator. The next day I again called. No response from management to assume liability for a crew of five including a foreman for failing to adequately protect the adjacent property. While they did remove the debris, damage remains after one week. No telephone call to, at a minimum apologize, review the damage and assume liability. Perhaps their commitment of safety and "preserving value" doesn't extend to other neighbors' property. At the end of the day, should you choose to use Travers, warn your neighbors. Guard your property. And, be prepared for the potential to lose previously blooming plants, shrubs and money. read more

This is the second time we have used Travers Tree Service, and we will use them again. Their estimator came out and helped us decide which trees needed work, and gave us a fair estimate per tree. They are busy, at least in the fall, so we had to wait a few weeks for their team to schedule time to do the work. They showed up on time and swarmed our property with professional tree workers. I think they have 10 guys on the team that did our five trees. Fast and well-trained, they were in and out in about an hour. They know what they are doing. They aren't just gardener hacks who cut trees on the side, this is their only business, so they understand what needs to be cut and how to properly shape and lace the trees. The brought in a wood chipper to eat all the branches. They cleaned up with blowers and rakes, leaving our yard cleaner than when they arrived. Great professional work, and the price was reasonable in my opinion. read more

We had two large trees removed in difficult areas to access. The first tree was 5 ft away from our front door and the second in the middle of the backyard. Both trees leaned over the house directly with the one in the backyard leaning all the way over the entire house. Travers crew led by Salvatore was exceptionally professional and polite. Watching them work, these guys are obviously well trained and know exactly what they're doing. The crew cleaned up beautifully after each day on the job. You MUST HIRE Travers for all of your tree removal or tree care needs. Don't go for someone cheaper - go with the most professional and well trained team! Call Dustin and he will take great care of you! On a side note: my neighbor hired a cheaper company to cut down large limbs and trim their trees. While they were out of town this company ended up staging large cut branches on their roof, so they came home to a large number of broken roof tiles. The company did not aknowledge that their were at fault and thus their goes my neighbors "savings" on their tree trimming. Now, they get to pay for a new roof! read more

In December, I had seven large podacarpus trees topped (they were nearly 25' high) and trimmed along with four other trees and was really pleased with their work. I have had these trees trimmed in the past and found that either the trees were not trimmed enough or were not done well. Travers made them look beautiful and were reasonable in cost. I also loved that they really did clean up all the trimmings. I called the office after they left to let them know how happy I was with their work. On my commute to work (NB 405) one of the large trucks owned by this company cut me off and nearly made me crash my new car. This was very dangerous for me and the disregard for safety on the road was appalling. The driver and passenger didn't even acknowledge this egregious act and kept driving in the PASSING lane which isn't for large trucks to begin with. I even have video proof but yelp won't let me post it. Do not give business to this company because they will cause several accidents before even making it to the worksite. Travers' crew removed two large trees which had fallen in our yard in San Pedro. It was a dangerous operation since one of the trees was partly lying on the roof. The crew of six was friendly, worked very professionally and efficiently, and cleaned up, leaving the yard spotless. They even stacked the wood neatly into a giant woodpile. Convenient and easy to schedule a quote. Showed up on time. Walked the job, talked through options, and followed up with a clearly written quote to remove two 65ft tall trees and trim one other. Signed and returned the quote and then it took a few days to schedule the service. The crew arrived this morning, on time, polite, wearing masks when we needed to talk, etc. They were careful around the plants at the base of the tree that had them. Did a great jobs trimming five large very overgrown trees. We had to wait a month after we got the quote, but I preferred that because I wanted cold weather before cutting the trees. If you are a neighbor of home that is using Travers Tree Service for having their trees pruned GUARD your LADWP Green Recycle Bins. Travers Tree Service happened to trimming a neighbor's trees on "Trash Day" all the homes in the street had their Blue, Black & Green bins out for the day. I saw the Travers Tree Service team pull up to the house as I was leaving for work and thought "oh nice, so and so is getting their trees trimmed". When I returned from work the first thing I do is put the bins away but there were only a black and a blue bin and my two green bins were gone. I spoke to my neighbor and he saw the Travers Tree Service team take my two bins and his one bin to the home where the trees were bing trimmed and they used them for a platform to stand on to trim the trees. He asked them to return the bins and they said that they would but never did. I went to about 10 houses on either side of mine and the bins are gone. I have my street number on the bins for ID'ing. The next day I phoned the Travers Tree Service office and spoke with the office person and they said that they would look into it and get back to me but haven't heard back from them, crickets! read more

I used Travers Tree Service to trim my huge eucalyptus trees several times and they always did an excellent job. Due to the damage the roots were causing to the foundation of my home the trees needed to be removed. Travers Tree was incredible. One crew removed the two trees efficiently, leaving me the firewood I requested neatly stacked, and a second crew returned on another day to grind the stumps and roots which covered my front yard. Everyone I dealt with was professional and pleasant and they left the grounds spotless. Their price was fair and their service truly excellent. I highly recommend. I've used Traver's before and while they're more expensive than many other tree service companies, I chose to contact them again to get an estimate for my annual tree trimming. An appointment was made (they have an 11am - 3pm window) for last Monday and I took the day off work, made arrangements for my children to be taken to school by other parents (two different schools) and then received a call from Traver's that morning to say their arborist couldn't make it. Very frustrating but things happen. I made another appointment for today and waited for them to arrive and called them within their four hour window to ask if they could give me a general clue what time the arborist would arrive as I wanted to grab a sandwich. The receptionist was VERY friendly and warm but told me the arborist didn't pick up her call and she couldn't reach him. I told her I would still go out for my sandwich, and said the worst thing is the arborist will call me if they arrive and I could be back in 5 minutes. I returned home less than 20 minutes after I had left and waited until 2:50. I then called Traver's again and the lovely lady I had spoken with earlier said she had texted the arborist but still hadn't heard back and that if he had come, he would have left a card on my door. There was no card, but she then explained that he contacted her during our second call and that he had called at my house. She asked if I wanted to speak with the arborist but I told her at this point, I'm going to go to another firm for a quote. Again, this is NOT a criticism of the customer service lady, but Traver's.... you need to do better and you can. Lots of competition out there. Note: I checked my Ring and he showed up at 12:37, rang the doorbell once, looked at his phone for a moment then walked away. No card, no call, no effort. read more

The folks who did the actual work were right on time, friendly, polite, and did a great job. However, it did take 3-4 months from the time we signed the contract for them to schedule the work. They were not able to complete the entire project, but sent me the invoice anyway (less the cost of what they had not completed). When I called to pay the invoice, I was told that only checks were accepted despite this not being written on my paperwork OR on the actual invoice. When I questioned this, the person on the phone could only parrot over and over that I could pay by credit card for an additional 5% of the total job, which was over $3,000. I emailed my original contact and the person who handles billing and asked them to forward my complaint to the owner. Neither person responded to my email, nor did anyone else. We will find someone else to help maintain our ample trees. read more

I used these guys several times and they did great work. Unfortunately something has changed with the business. Now it takes 8-10 weeks to get them to the house to do the work. I called recently and was told that palm trees should be trimmed in the summer. When I pointed out that they did them in January last year instead they tried to convince me that they had come in October. I put that aside and asked them to let me know when was the soonest they could come. The promised to look into it and call me back the next day. They did not. I have 48 trees at my property and have been a solid account for these guys, but they just don't seem interested in the business. I'm moving on to another service provider. read more

I live in Carson and I'm trying to have two trees removed. I called this tree service a few weeks ago and the woman said, "We don't normally go to Carson," but they could stop by when they were in the area. Today I called and asked if they were going to Carson yet. The woman said she didn't know what I meant, so I explained. Then she asked something like, "Have you tried contacting the City of Carson about tree-trimming?" I told her that was complicated, and asked why, when I was calling her company, why she wanted me to call the City of Carson? "I didn't say to call the City of Carson, I said to contact the City of Carson!" she said in a short-tempered tone. (Big difference?!!?) She went into a spiel about how the city would know what tree-trimming firms were licensed in their area. I said I'd already checked for tree-trimming firms online and in the phone book. "You can look online and in the phone book until you're blue in the face!" she retorted. At that point I told her good-bye. read more

The four guys that came to trim my queen palm were professional. The foreman kept an eye on everything and the guy who actually trimmed the palm did a great job. The 2 others were busy hauling away the debris. Left everything just the way they found it. I watched the whole process and was impressed. I received about 6 estimates and their's was the best. I am not a big Yelp reviewer and I have tried on numerous occasions to give this company the chance to make things right but they have failed at every turn so I am writing this review as they have left me with no other choice. We hired Travers to do major tree cutting in our overgrown backyard. The estimate was lower than others and I thought they were a reputable tree service company so we hired them to do the work but I have NEVER experienced such POOR service from both the job completed and the post-work customer service, or should I say lack thereof. This was a fairly large job and involved extra work in our next door neighbor's yard. We were told it was not the best time to trim our large pine tree and I knew that going in but I also know that no matter what time of year you trim a pine, they drip an enormous amount of sap. The team that did the job moved all of our outdoor furniture out of the way to trim the tree, only exposing our deck. After the work was completed, they moved all of the furniture back under the tree in direct receipt of the dripping sap. I came home from work to find my backyard deck and furniture dripped in sap!! I immediately went to the hardware store to get tarps to cover everything from further damage. Needless to say it was a big hassle and if you have any experience removing sap you know it is not an easy task. My deck and furniture still remain in question today. On a separate note, the backyard trimming was far from balanced. I understand that the scope of the project might not have been spelled out on paper but I had a verbal agreement with the estimator that certain areas would be trimmed. My backyard was left to look like it was half done...imagine half of a haircut for a visual. It looks terrible, the work was poorly executed and any professional tree service worth their salt would have had the common sense to cover the deck after the trees were trimmed and not to return outdoor furniture to the line of fire. I have called Travers on numerous occasions and to this day (work was completed in May/June) no one has cared enough to come out and see what I am talking about. The say they will follow up and they never do. This has been extremely disappointing and one of the worst service experiences I can recall. I would not recommend Travers to anyone based on this experience. They still have not had the courtesy to attempt to make this right! read more

Wish there was a way to give them NEGATIVE stars. I contracted with Travers to clear a slope in my backyard of bushes and more importantly English Ivy in preparation for a re-landscape project. Their guys came over and in hours removed the bushes, just below grade and rolled the ivy up. They simply started at one end and rolled it up cutting the roots at dirt level as they went. When I asked, the owner told me he could use an herbicide but that would cost me $450 to have his guys come back and spray. Within weeks, the ivy was growing back. I pulled the roots, sprayed, pulled more roots and finally have it under control myself. The old term "Buyer beware" really applies to Traver's Tree Service. Don't know how they get all those contracts with cities around the South Bay but they sure don't treat the common man very well. read more

In 2014 I gave Travers a 4 star rating and used them through 2019. However, in 2020, the customer service and desire for my continued business no longer exists. I hope they return to their prior values and remember the importance and appreciated of the customer. We signed the contract and attempted to schedule in February of 2020. Travers informed us they would provide service within 6-8 weeks. After 10 weeks we called back and were told at least 4 more weeks. In May after no service or call, we informed Travers that we were going to hold off until Dec 2020, and would like to be put on the schedule. We followed up in November, asked for a revised quote, followed up again in December, and attempted to be put on the schedule. We were informed that although they would try to do it sooner, "it is our busy time and it could be 6-8 weeks." read more

Spent a good deal of money on these guys to have some trees removed and stumps ground down. Their scheduling is horrible as you never really knew if and when they were coming. Their customer service is laughable as they do not respond to emails or voicemails in a timely fashion. You are lucky if they call you back the same day. But.....their prices are by far the cheapest than anyone around. I got quotes from 5 other landscapers and these guys were the cheapest by about 30%. They do a very good job of cleaning up every day and keep collateral damage down to a minimum. You just need to stay on top of them as they did miss a few spots the first time around and they had to return to finish the job. After clearing the area myself a bit more I noticed they missed a few spots but its not worth the hassle to get them back out. I can just do it myself. It seems that most of their revenue come from city work as I see their trucks all over PVE trimming the public trees so maybe these smaller residential jobs are fillers for them. That explains the level of service I got. Their service and scheduling I'd give them 0 stars if I could. For their prices it's 5 stars. For their quality of work probably a 3.5 to 4. If the job isn't urgent but you're on a tight budget then I'd recommend these guys. But if you're on a tight schedule and have a little bit of a loose budget I'd go elsewhere. I'd probably use these guys again but it is somewhat of a painful process. read more

As a business owner I am appalled at this company. I came home to discover that my neighbor's tree was being cut down and no one notified us that they would need to be on our property. The workers were in our backyard "cleaning up" but had to reach over a locked gate, unlatch it and open the gate to get in. Completely UNACCEPTABLE. They left a complete path of destruction, moved trash cans from the side of our house onto our front porch and LEFT THEM THERE. Our vehicle in the driveway was now wrecked from being so dirty from the removal. Our front porch had an entire layer of dirt on it. We have outside animals that were disrupted. The worst part is when I called to discuss the issue with the office, the receptionist was so off putting and clearly annoyed at even getting a complaint. She stated, "sorry that's not how we normally operate." I asked her why they would even be in my yard in the first place and to please stay out of it. She said the job is done, and I informed her that no it was not they were back today as it was a large tree. I understand having to clean up and appreciate that. However, I do not appreciate someone coming onto my property, opening locked gates without permission and causing damage to my personal property. Oh the best part, I said I expect you to pay for my truck to be washed. She immediately yelled "no we are not liable on Page 2 of the contract it says that you are to inform your neighbors of the tree cutting." Wow , ZERO RESPONSIBILITY...... Never RECOMMEND this company just based on their customer service! read more

When I lived in LA, my friend had a massive tree branch dangling over his tiny ranch house. I couldn't believe it!
