I'm not a very big vegetable fan, generally. Something to do with a bad experience with carrots many years ago as a child which resulted in me being left to throw up alone in the garden whilst the childminder scolded me from inside.
So you can imagine that for someone like me, greengrocers aren't exactly the best or most exciting place to go. Thankfully though, Traynor Brothers in Maghull is a lovely little greengrocer that actually manages to do the impossible and makes me quite want to eat my greens. The fruit and veg they sell there is fresh and locally produced, resulting in delicious produce that is available at a fraction of the price of the limp specimens you see on the shelves of a local Tesco.
The staff there are friendly and helpful and the family-run feel of Traynor Brother means that when you buy your fruit and veg from there, you really feel like you're giving back to the community.
A great place to go for your fruit and veg if you're in the area. read more
