I had limited time, but did make it about 3/4 of the way around the main trail, with stops along the way to take pictures. Wonderful, varied scenery, varied terrain, and VERY scenic!! This old quarry has been "repurposed" and is a great spot to "get away from it all" without going too far. A good-sized lake, a few easy to moderate trails (the rocky lake overlooks are nice!!) and plenty of parking are what you'll find. No, not the best trail markings/maps, but if I figured it out, anyone can!! A great spot to discover in Greene County, I'll be back!!

Beautiful surprise on the backroads between Yellow Springs and Xenia!! Interesting history behind…read morethis bridge, built in 1877, in use until 2003 and now just a walk/drive-up living history lesson. The area around this Greene County treasure, between Yellow Springs and Xenia, is so beautiful, especially in the fall, that it should be on everyone's "must see" list if they're in area, or even worth a special trip!! There's a small parking area, and if you get a good map (google was helpful, surprisingly!!) a wonderful hiking/biking destination as well. Make the time for this one, and its wonderful "cousin" in Yellow Springs, Richard P. Eastman Covered Bridge (review coming soon...)!!

The budge no long has traffic going across it, but you can walk across it to get views from both sides. There also is nice signage, including the historical maker. You can get admission to just the site, add on admission to the Wright's home (offered on certain days for an additional charge) and also add on for the train or carousel rides. Overall, admission is very reasonable at $14 for adults and $10 per child. Worth it considering all that you can see and do at the site. There are a lot of historic buildings you can enter. Most have placards outside describing what their history is. Some of them had costumed interpreters in them and some with animatronics. (which my daughter declared as super creepy). In the main building, there are exhibits about the history of Dayton where you can learn things like that at one point, Dayton had the most patents of anywhere in the US and the cash register was invented here. It was cool learning about the area (even though we aren't from here). I imagine it would be even more impactful if you were local. There is also the Wright Brothers building with a ton of information about the Wright Brothers and more Wright artifacts than any other museum or location. Everything is very well maintained and all of the staff are friendly and just waiting to give you information about whatever area they are in. If you go to Dayton, make sure you visit here!

So, this place is awesome. It's like half railroad park, half Wright-brothers park, half historical…read moremuseum, and half outdoor garden-park. THAT'S FOUR HALVES!!!! I went here as part of a group, and they seem to get a lot of school field trips, but they're well organized, and it's a big place, so even with a ton of kids at the place, you don't feel like you're crowded. They have really great people working here, who are more than happy to answer your questions and explain things to you. I had like, fifteen minutes alone with the candle-maker lady and my son, and she entertained all of his questions and was really cool to talk with. They have a lot of Dayton-related history around NCR, and flight, and nuclear energy, and old automobiles. I bet it's a blast to work there. My favorite part though, was the outdoors area. It's just a really well maintained facility with lots of big old trees, and shade, and you can really just kick back and relax and chill out.

There's 4 miles of walking trails, 2 catch and release ponds, a shelter, kids playground and on-site restrooms. It's's been pretty peaceful each time I've been there in the weekday afternoon. IE, you'll have the place for yourself... It's worth a visit to see what you think. 5 stars.

There are also bathrooms. The trails are well marked, but they really do not seem to match the map. That's my only complaint. But it's a small enough park that now that I've been there, I would know where to go next time. The gorge, the bridges, and the waterfall are all beautiful. There are several lookouts around the waterfall. It's all very picturesque and would be a great place for engagement or family photos. The river was also very clean and I was tempted to wade in to cool off.

This is nice historic park located behind the Dayton Library's main Branch. It was initially named…read moreLibrary Park, But the city fathers passed a resolution to rename it Cooper Park. It is pretty straightforward and more of a plaza than a park. It primarily consist of a square patch of green space, shade trees, a statue of President William McKinley, and a couple of historical markers and other statues. In 1974, the Montgomery County Historical Society erected a historical marker for the park. In addition to the President William McKinley statue, there is a sculpture dedicated to public servants and another recognizing the services of Ambrose A. Winters on the park's perimeter. The park is named after Daniel Cooper, who is arguably the father of Dayton. In the late 1800's, Cooper donated the land on which the park sits with the intention of it being " Cooper "to be an open walk forever." an open walk forever." Cooper Park provides green space for residents in the Cooper Lofts, Ice Avenue Lofts and Cooper Place, as well as visitors to the library. When I was there, I saw some kids playing a football game on the park's green space. The park appears to be well maintained and even though it lacks a restroom facility, I guess if you really had to go, then you could just use the library's restroom. The park plays host to many of the city's rallies and festivals such as the Walk for Freedom, Party in the Park, and Dayton Pride Parade. There is metered street parking all around the park and is free on weekends and on weekdays after 6PM. This is a nice park to visit and hangout at if you are in the area or visiting the library. It is definitely not a destination library. It does not have playground equipment, a restroom facility, free parking, walking/jogging trails or other amenities you would find at other parks. It is however, still a nice shaded hangout spot. Even though it is located between 4 main roads, the roads are not as busy as you would expect so the park has a somewhat peaceful feel to it.
