This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. There is a super small inside gallery area. A bunch of exhibits were covered so you couldn't see them. The outside is a small village with two structures. It was cool to go in and see you those looked like. There are plaques with what is around the circle area and you can either scan the QR code to get that information or borrow one of their books to learn about it. I think that's pretty cool. I think there is massive room for improvement and making things just look nicer. I think those in charge could learn a lot from how the Great Council State Park was done. Lots of room for more hands and interactive things to keep the kids interesting in learning about our past. This could also spell more revenue from schools for Field Trips.

This is home to the field that was used by the Wright Brothers to test their flying machines and…read moredevelop flight. It is located on the outskirts of Peterson Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It is also located behind a shooting range, which is important, because when it is active, you have to take the long way around to get to the prairie and field. The road getting into the filed is pretty tight and can barely fit two cars. If you are going to the field or prairie there are two designated parking lots that you can park in, one on each side. The Prairie is maintained as a pristine botanical prairie with only a few exhibits, much the same way the Wright brothers found it in 1904. The perimeter or the field was marked with blue flags, which have since blown away and just have the flag poles remaining. You will find information boards along the perimeter of the field and a replica of the Wright Brothers hanger and aircraft catapult right behind the range. A bench to sit on it located in that area as well, facing the road. There is a restroom located near the field in one of the parking areas. This area has a few hiking trails in the prairie and just walking/running the road surrounding the field would give you a good workout. It is not very well traveled and somewhat isolated. It would make for some good running. Outside of the shooting range, it is a very peaceful spot. This is a good place for history buffs and ecological people alike to visit. It would probably be a better use of your time if you coupled it with a visit to the Interpretive Center, Wright Memorial, and/or the US Air Force Museum. You can easily make a day of it. I highly recommend checking this place out. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and sure that you will too Fun Fact: The prairie was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990 and was opened to the public.

I was glad to find this historic gem on a recent visit to Enon. The Enon Adena Mound is the second…read morelargest in Ohio and is owned by the City of Enon. This mound is approximately 40 feet high, encompasses over one acre and is 574 feet in circumference. It majestically sits in the middle of a neighborhood of middle-class houses. The road completely encircles the mound so you can drive to look at it from all sides. If you're into the history of the Native Americans that lived here before we did, it's worth a stop. 5 Stars

John Bryan State Park is a beautiful 750 acre park near Yellow Springs, Ohio. It's a great place…read moreto take a nature hike, especially during the fall when the leaves are changing. The trails are clean and well kept. If hiking isn't your thing, there are lots of areas to play frisbee, let your kids run around, or have a picnic in the shade. It's about a 45 minute drive for us, so we don't go often but when we do go once or twice a year, we always enjoy this beautiful park.
