My family and I loved eating here for over 15 years. We love their food and have not found another Thai restaurant that we have stuck with. However, about three years ago, we ordered the Poh Tak soup (our favorite) and my mom noticed the fish had a weird smell. We informed one of the workers and she told us it was fine and even opened the door for us to leave. We stopped going there for a while, but after exploring other Thai restaurants we decided to give it another try as we have been going there for years. During our last time there, we got take out and my sister noticed a worm in her beef Nam tok. My mom told one of her friends who goes there often and she stated she has also found a worm on hers and she complained to the waitress and the waitress told her that was not a worm even after she placed the moving worm on a napkin for her to see. Was in the area and wanted some good ol food so did a quick yelp search and of course it didn't disappoint. Hole in the wall/ mom and pop type of restaurant. Browsed over the menu and decided on grabbing a few items. PORK JERKY- we originally wanted to try the beef but they ran out so we went with the pork. Nice portion served with a side of chili sauce satay and some fresh veggies. Pork was good but the satay sauce made it better. I enjoyed this but I think I would much rather have the beef since that's our go to. 3 1/2 stars**** THAI BOAT NOODLES- skinny noodles with a good portion of a variety of diff meats. I went with the medium spice and that wasn't spicy in my opinion. The broth itself is flavorful but a bit on the sour side which I'm not used to but I've had before at other places. I normally ask for more veggies but this time I forgot so I think with more veggies this dish would've been better 3 1/2 stars*** PAD SEE EW- went with the option of chicken. Good portion enough to share. The dish itself had chicken, eggs, and Chinese broccoli along with the noodles. I liked that they gave a lot of veggies so the noodles are overwhelming. This was probably my favorite dish of the day. 4 stars**** Would like to come back and try other items. Prices were very reasonable for what you get. I don't know what authentic Thai food tastes like since I'm not Thai but, I've grown up eating Thai food at various restaurants all over Los Angeles and, this place tastes the best still. In fact, this small restaurant located within a seedy-looking strip mall was recommended to me by a Thai friend of mine and he's got credibility in my opinion. Their best tasting dish is their Pad See Ew and I've had it with all their available protein options, including tofu. It has the perfect seasoning and the wok they use to pan fry this dish must be super hot and super well-seasoned because you can taste it in this dish. The hubs found this thai resto on Yelp and we had high expectations due to the positive reviews. Restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's clean and has plenty of parking out front. Signage inside is confusing as I saw at least three signs indicating "Cash Only", however every party (including us) paid with credit cards. On to the main attraction - the food. We ordered the Chicken Satay skewers to start along with Pad See Ew noodles with chicken, and Panang Curry with chicken. Unfortunately this resto commits a horrible sin by 1)not including rice with their curry dishes, and 2)charging you an additional fee for a side of rice to eat said curry with. What kind of self-respecting Asian restaurant doesn't serve curry with rice? This was the reason behind the 3-star. On food alone, this place was a solid 4-star. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. But it was odd that they brought out our satay appetizer after the other entrees came out. The satay was one of the better executed we've had - very flavorful and moist. Pad see ew was also solid, but the noodles were overcooked and a bit mushy. Panang curry was quite flavorful and a good sized portion. Overall, the food was quite enjoyable, servings were generous, and service was fine. Just peeved about the curry dish not including a side of rice. Would probably come back if in the area. read more
