Smyths…read moreToy Superstore, which has just opened in the former MFI shop in Llandudno, is a Toys'r'Us style shop offering a huge range of toys for children of all ages. Although it may not be as big as Toys'r'Us they manage to cram in a awful lot of stock and I can't imagine there's much you'll find in Toys'r'Us you won't find here. There's everything from computer games to Peppa Pig and from bikes to board games and prices are fairly reasonable. If you haven't time to browse around the shop there is a glossy catalogue available that you can either pick in store or order on-line. If you're a parent or grandparent planning to do some Christmas shopping this shop is a must visit and you wont need to make a long trek down the A55 to get there.

Have you actually seen the range they have?? I wish I'd taken a picture. You had the cheap, the decent and the expensive but one could be found worthwhile to last the summer of fun we planned ahead :) Even though the water pistle extravaganza escaped photographic evidence, the giant Lego built Lego man did not! This place will take you back to your childhood…read more Toycraft is an exquisite toy shop, nestling in the middle of Chester. It's definitely a more upmarket toy shop than, say, Toys R Us -- the toys are 'top of the range' (many are made of high-quality wood) and are priced accordingly. ...well, this is Chester, after all! Quite a few of the toys seem to be original (at least, I've not seen them on sale anywhere else), and there is plenty to amuse and entertain youngsters of all ages. The staff are friendly and helpful, and shopping (or just browsing) there is a real pleasure. The only slight drawback is that it's in the middle of Chester and access for drivers is not especially easy. Because of the quaint old nature of Chester, the shop is not the easiest to get into if you've got a buggy (if I recall correctly there are some steps right by a narrow-ish entrance, with a sharp turn immediately you go in) -- and this is the only reason why it gets four stars rather than five. But if you can get there, and if you can get in, I doubt you'll regret it!

But, before that, people would buy them from quaint little toy shops, just like The Cherry Tree in Southport. The shop itself is pretty small, but even the window displays are pretty to look at as they have a variety of different toys of all shapes and sizes looking out at you. They have a decent mixture of old-fashioned toys like pop guns and sheriff badges and more contemporary toys such as building blocks and dolls. Their focus is more on traditional toys than the new, shiny, noisy ones so if you're looking for a Megazord or a Buzz Lightyear doll then look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a beautifully crafted toy for a little one then The Cherry Tree is worth checking out. You can order online, too.

The products I have purchased recently have been of good quality. However, they can be beaten on price if you shop around. The staff are generally very nice and helpful and are willing to reorder things if they dont have what you are after in stock within the store. The shop itself is quite small and I found this surprising since alot of people going in there might have a small child or a pram with them and moving around the shop can be quite difficult, especially when it is busy and full of other people with prams etc. Another thing of note is that, probably due to the limited space and the shop size, alot of the goods are stored on high shelves that anyone under 6 fot in height would struggle to reach themselves. The staff do have mobile ladders and are very helpful in retrieving stuff that you may not be able to reach. As I've said, its not on the cheap side but if you are spoiling your baby you probably wont mind.
