Ok so this small joint in Madrid, right on La Gran Via, sells some really great Mexican-ish food. Obviously this is not as authentic as Mexican food IN MEXICO, but it is still really good. I was staying at a hotel next to too this place and because it is reasonably priced and the service is pretty fast, I ended up eating here like 7 times.
Now, why 3 stars? Every time I ate here I ordered a burrito of some sort, 4 of the seven times the rice in the burrito was not properly cooked and some of the rice grains were hard. Even though the rice was not properly cooked over 50% of the times I ate there, the fact is that the flavors were amazing. While the burritos were totally edible, i did not like the fact that I kept on feeling the crunch of uncooked rice .
Another thing I did not like, and this may be a Madrid thing, the tacos were very tiny, smaller than anything I have seen in the US. So if in the US you eat 3 tacos at a restaurant, here you would have to order 6.
Do I recommend this place?
If you want a quick, flavorful meal at a decent price, made really quickly, check them out. Be warned that if you order the burrito, chances are the rice won't be fully cooked, but you might just be luckier than I.
Overall it is pretty good, great flavors, fast service, decent prices and open late. read more
