The atmosphere inside is super cozy, cute, and feels actually authentic--it reminds me of the classic local Mexican restaurants I've always loved. The Highlights: My Go-To's: I'm a fan of the quesadillas, fajitas, queso, and rice. Their shredded chicken taco is also a sleeper hit--definitely recommend. The Fiance's Favorites: He is obsessed with the quail poppers. Hidden Gem on Mexican food in ATX! Can you believe you get delicious Mexican food for under $15? I'm saying you get an appetizer AND an entree for $15. what we got: Guadalajara-The taco salad appetizer comes out first and then they serve the enchilada and rice. Comes with a bitable queso cup! I think this place should deserve way more stars and recognition than it is! Came here on a Tuesday night and there weren't a lot of people so we were sat down quickly. The service is really good, the server refill out chips, salsa, and water consistently. We got the tres amigos and a weekly special dish - both have large portion and are delicious! I really enjoyed their beef tacos with bell pepper, full of flavour. We finished up with a pumpkin flan - I normally do not like pumpkin but this is def an exception! The flan is really fluffy and soft, not too sweet as well! Love the presentation. The restaurant has good ambiance with a lot of Latino decorations. I really appreciate the service we receive here. I come regularly with a large group, and the restaurant accommodates us easily. Our chips and salsa stay filled, our food comes readily, and we are never pressured to leave. The grilled and fajita chicken are seasoned well. Vegetables are fresh. Love the different sauce options. This spot is nice, but it can be seriously hit or miss. I've had excellent service while the place was packed, the food comes out hot and delicious. I've also had real slow service with mediocre food that comes out lukewarm. It really depends, but I have no idea on what. Consistently though? Friendly staff, clean space, great atmosphere, nice drinks, and a solid quesadilla. So on those alone we keep coming back when we're in the rare mood for TexMex. It's incredibly casual, but I've never felt out of place the few times I happened to be dressed up while going here. It's nearby and can typically handle groups so it's good for a hang out spot. I've heard great things about the tortilla soup but as a vegetarian I can't say for myself. Service staff are all friendly and helpful and willing to double check on things dietary restrictions if you need them to. Which btw was the main reason going to unwind a bit on a budget. As I remembered great little glass for $5 bucks can't beat it. We both have 2 drinks each and split the appetizer plate of taquitos. This place is good, but not great. We ended up trying this as we live relatively close, and have been here twice because we wanted to give it another shot. Food/Drink: The first time we came here, we got the carne asada plate, and it was ok. Definitely over cooked and chewy. However, the sides were pretty good as well as the drinks. The second time we came we tried the enchiladas and sat in the bar area rather than the main dining room. It was a little better experience and the enchiladas were much better than the carne asada, but still pretty heavily drenched in cheese. Ambiance: Definitely nothing fancy by any means, but a nice traditional feel. I've been here a couple times now and the food is always great. Two of the times I was there for large parties and they were well equipped to serve us. Good drinks. Lots of space. I like that you can customize your enchiladas with filing and sauce choice, and they give you three huge enchiladas. I tasted my friend's fried, stuffed avocado and it was AMAZING. This place was empty when we walked in and that should have been my first clue. The food was mediocre at best. The kids meal was what appeared to be a frozen Costco or Sysco staple. My entree reminded of the tacos you would get at a Mexican restaurant in Europe where they can't get the fresh Mexican ingredients and just make it with what they have. The place was pretty empty at 11:45a but I chalked it up to everyone else having the day off and being at home in bed instead of having to work like me. It was cold in the restaurant. Chips were okay, salsa was good. I ordered the tamales. I'm not a bean person so I asked the waiter if they had Mexican corn but he seemed confused by my question. I know that's a thing right?
