They were very sweet with my fearful dog as well as my toddlers. Nails were quickly clipped and paw pads cleaned up where they were punctured. In and out in less than 10 minutes. A different place I had called initially was telling me they would have to put him under anesthesia and pay an emergency visit fee before they even saw how minimally ingrown they were. Really appreciate a vet that evaluates and charges appropriately!!

My poor baby had a heart condition and hyperthyroidism and Dr. Hughes gave him a steroid shot! You should never give a pet with either of those conditions a steroid! My poor baby was dead 3 days later! We had been going to Dr. Hughes for several years now and it was know my cat had seasonal allergies and had asthma. Typically when they got bad Hughes would give him a shot and he was better, but since 01/01/2025 my husband and I noticed he was struggling more with his asthma. He had started to open mouth breath a couple days before our appt with Hughes. When we showed up on 1/9/2025 Hughes didn't act with any urgency nor did he do any labs or imaging. Just gave him a shot and sent us out the door. The next day our cat had a rapid decline in heath, so much so we had to take him to MedVet 24 hr Emergency care in Carmel. Immediately he was triaged and was put into an oxygen cage, labs and imaging done. Found out he was suffering from severe hyperthyroidism, toxic congested heart failure, he had a pleural effusion that was drained and had nodules in his lungs. When the ER vet found out he got a steroid shot he was livid. They did their best and told us without the steroid shot he might have lived a couple more months and been comfortable but with the steroid shot he wouldn't have long. He had to be put to sleep the never next day because he was struggling so badly!!! I went to Dr.Hughes to tell him what happened and to ask for my money back for his negligence and essentially expedited my cats passing and he laughed at me! He then told me he wouldn't give me the money back and tried to put the blame on me and my husband. He was really sarcastic with me and asked "would giving you back that $95 dollars really make you happy?" I was appalled by his lack of caring or the lack of guilt in his part of my cats death. In the end I had to be a bit if a Karen to get my $95 back and then was given my records and banned from his office. GOOD! No one who cares for their sick pets or elder pets should take them to Hughes unless you want them to die to his negligence!!!

No hard sell from either of these professionals but they do make sure that the clients are aware of the preventative medications, etc. I've had several experiences with Dr. Fouts (from euthanizing a very sick cat to routine puppy care) and each time I feel she has taken care of both the animal and the human caretaker! She is a soft spoken, compassionate and caring person who explains things in simple terms. She has a very competent staff who are warm and friendly.

Earlier this year, I had to rush Smoochie to an emergency vet after hours because she was peeing blood. That clinic told me all her blood tests were bad and that she had kidney stones(they were able to remove). When Dr. Becker reviewed the records, she immediately noticed they had entered her as a dog instead of a guinea pig. She took the time to explain everything clearly and reassured me when I was overwhelmed with worry. Smoochie kept peeing blood whenever she wasn't on antibiotics and pain medication, so we decided together that the most compassionate option was to spay her. I knew Smoochie was in the very best hands, and Dr. Becker's kindness and skill made such a difference during that stressful time. Even after surgery, Smoochie continued having issues, and Dr. Becker came in on her day off to help with her care. That alone speaks volumes about her dedication. She walked me through every option with so much patience and never made me feel rushed or judged. Ultimately, we decided to focus on keeping Smoochie comfortable and managing her pain until her body is ready to let go, and Dr. Becker has continued to support me with compassion and honesty every step of the way. She came in on her off day once for an emergency and She has personally called me to talk through Smoochie's care plans, and that level of follow-up and empathy is something you don't find everywhere. I also want to mention the wonderful girl at the front I believe her name is Gabby, who has always been so kind and welcoming. She is the only person who has consistently called me back, helped me get squeezed in for urgent appointments, and made sure we were taken care of. They have made some of the hardest times as a pet parent feel easier and less lonely. The care our pets have received here for years is outstanding and at a reasonable price. A vet visit isn't always fun: new puppies and kittens, baby guinea pigs and ferrets' checkups, sure. Meanwhile the cat got significantly worse, when owner returned the animal due to severe issue ( the very next day) he blamed the owner when the cat passed for not monitoring constantly without having given any instruction. Dr. Bricker has a great humor while also knowing when to be serious and brainstorm diagnosis, treatment, and options. We changed vets from a Marion practice to this vet 15mins away because we believe them to be superior. I served on the Marion-Grant County Humane Society board of directors for about eight years. Dr. Pearson worked closely with us and our animals offering her expertise and services either at cost or pro-bono. The technology available here is an unexpected surprise for such a rural community and their expertise is among the best in Grant County. They worked with us on payment arrangements for services we couldn't afford immediately as long as we made agreed-upon payments.
