For months after, I always felt like I hadn't paid my church dues, as it were, and worried what people were thinking about such a new person leading the worship. After missing two weeks due to various activities, I returned, and was surprised to find how much I'd been missed. The congregation is so kind and welcoming, as is our pastor and associate pastor. Pastor Jon's sermons are always relevant, interesting, and informative, despite his casual approach to Sunday mornings (by casual, I mean he won't stand on stage. He doesn't like to look OVER the congregation, but to them). We have a nursery for both services, as well as Sunday School for children and adults. If you're shopping for a church, give us a try!

This was the venue for our wedding ceremony. It was really easy getting everything setup through…read morethe office. The church is absolutely beautiful. The natural light that comes in through the many windows is also so wonderful. Compared to other churches/venues, the rental fee is a bit on the steep side, but I thought the picturesque chapel-like style really made it worth it. We also really loved how we were able to make the ceremony completely our own and were not tied to any specific rules about music that couldn't be played or rituals that had to be followed, as you might find at other churches. We were able to use our own officiant, which was really important to us. They also had a sound system/microphones available for use, which was great. I want to say the capacity for the church was 200 people. Handicap accessible also with an elevator in the back. Glad we splurged a bit to hold our wedding here!

I have only attended one service and visited on a couple other occasions because it is the church my wife used to attend. We decided that it would be a great place to get married since it was large enough to accomodate our 300+ people wedding. The facility is beautiful, lots of room, great technology, a sweet grand piano. We were so excited to use the building. The problem started when they assigned us a wedding coordinator who ended up making our lives a nightmare. She wasn't bad at first, she seemed very helpful and willing to work with us to make it our perfect wedding. Trouble started at the rehearsal and didn't end until the wedding was over. She wanted the wedding done how she envisioned it and undermined everything I would say. She wouldn't let us move anything or rearrange the stage at all. We asked for simple things and we were always rejected. My advice, if you choose to get married here, try to get out of being assigned a wedding coordinator. Other than that, the wedding itself was perfect. I got married to the woman I love and at the end of the day, that's all that mattered :)

What started as a biker bar is now an uber clean, all ages, Christian music club... and,…read moreunfortunately, one of the only underaged music venues in CB. Rebels His Hands (as it is called), is a small, cramped and run down place surrounded by shady taverns and railroad tracks. I used to go down here Friday nights in junior high school. When you're a 7th grader, this place that looks so grimy and tattered, full of torn up pool tables, street signs and broken arcade games, where you can buy Jones Soda and chips and listen to unknown local bands play, is awesome. When you're 21 and want to listen to a decent band and kick back with a beer, not so much. It's not so much the atmosphere at Rebels, the dirty biker bar feel is kind of cool, kind of punk or metal or whatever. What makes this place suck so bad, for both the musicians and the audience, is the super conservatism. If you're a band, you're lyrics have to be clean, if they catch you using, non-God appropriate language, you get asked to leave. What's worse is the fact that even the audience can't use language, they will get asked to leave also. There's no artistic freedom there, you can't even get close to "questionable content", a friend's band got in trouble for covering "Suck My Kiss" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers there once. This song doesn't have much language but what they were more offended by was the fact that "suck my kiss" sound to close to something sexual. If you're band has a schtick, such as wearing suits on stage (that was what my former ska band did), they will not allow you to play. They are so concerned about kids having fun that they almost become the "fun Nazis", you can enter the building in a suit and tie, if you do they will cut off your tie and hang it from the rafters. Overall, it's an okay place to get a start as a young 8th grade musician, but if you're serious about what you do and not super religious or even just wanna have fun at a show, don't go to Rebels.
