As a result, I had to take my car to another mechanic, who was able to properly diagnose and fix the problem--something Scott was unable to do. When I contacted Scott to explain the situation and request a refund, he initially refused. After pressing the issue, he said he would "get back to me," but never did. I made multiple attempts to reach him via phone and text, all of which were ignored. I have still not received a refund and am now pursuing further action to address the damages caused. I was there for a 'Pre-Purchase Auto Diagnostic' which the gentleman at the desk could not understand. I said a few times that I was looking for a pre-purchase inspection or diagnostic; whichever term hey wanted to use and he was confused. After a few round I pointed a the 'A-Z Diagnostics sign and said "This is what I am here for, a Diagnosis of the auto. He started to understand so went to the shop and a more week-versed English speaking gentleman came in to translate and agreed to do one immediately since they had no customers. They did a fairly quick inspection and came into the waiting room with a filthy Cabin Air Filter. Had dirt, bugs and what looked like pebbles in it. They said in addition to $25 part cost for a $25 filter and 30 min's labor it would be $75 for the filter unless I wanted them to replace my stabilizer links of which one was loose. He said he had to replace both and could not do only one side. The part cost for two small links was quotes as $59.68 per link and $119.36 for both links. With the labor, the cost would be $417.78 plus tax and they would not charge me labor charges to slide the new Cabin Air Filter in. Wow... that is nice of them. I had an issue with the filter but did not tell them that I had a new filter put in five days ago. I asked where my filter was and they stuck to "this is your filter". OK, maybe my eyes deceived me and I did not see a slightly dirty cabin filter thorn away and a clean white one slid into its proper spot, the filter cover replaced and the glove box snapped back in. I declined the filter and the loose like repair and paid them for the Diagnostic. After this type of treatment, I was concernerned about the link and whatever may need to be fixed by the dealer; if anything at all. I took it to Toyota dealer I have had good luck with in both purchases and repairs, Ft. Bend Sterling McCall. I agreed to pay $190 for a front end suspension inspection and did not mention the filter as I was going to take care of it myself for $15 - $16 if they put the filthy one back in. When I went to replace the cabin air filter I could not help but notice that there was NO Cabin Air Filter in there at all... LOL. Guess they kept my clean one to resell... ?? HaHaHa The inspection at Ft. Bend Sterling McCall resulted in a report of the auto having a nice tight front end suspension with no work needed. My service lead, Kelsey, then gave me a 50% discount for the inspection/diagnostic because it was very easy and in good shape. Drove off paying $101 and change. Do Not Trust these 'A-Z Diagnostics Total Car Care' guys. They wanted $427.63, including tax, for what cost me $15 - $16 for an air filter from AutoZone. $475.63 quote ended up costing me 3 to 4 hours and $16. Wow... Negative stars are not available so I gave them one. If Yelp! offers negative reviews and they would have earned a -5 for ignorance as to what a diagnostic is, switching filters and lying about a link.
