We have dined with Tribute Eatery & Bar twice when we're in Iowa City and both times have been nothing short of awesome. Tribute knows who they are and delivers to the customer what they want -- tasty eats and great drinks. The first time here, we had their Spinach Artichoke Dip, Mediterranean Chopped Salad with grilled chicken, the Fish & Chips, and the homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. Everything was very flavorful and well made -- the only dish I probably wouldn't opt for would be the noodle soup as it was on the salty side. We dined again here today for lunch and I ordered their Crispy Chicken sandwich and my hubby got the Tribute Burger, mine was very good! The chicken is fried to perfection and I love the touch of honey mustard. My hubby did mention that his burger patty was a tad under seasoned but otherwise, it was a good burger. He also got a Bloody Mary and I got their Tribute Old Fashion. Overall, customer service is great here and they are always consistent with their dishes from what we have seen. The hot coffee was decent but seemed pricy at 3.50 compared to the cold brew was $4. We shared the deviled egg app that had a lot of buzz. It was good but probably wouldn't order it again just because I normally don't go for it. I had the brussel sprout hash, which was tasty and good sized portions. This was our second time to tribute. It is such a great location in Coralville, and the aesthetic of the restaurant is really nice. It's got a shared bathroom area with four individual stalls and a shared sink area for both genders. It's very clean and I really like the bathroom area. Both times we were there, I remember the service was really great. Very personable waiters both times and they were good about talking through the menu with us to make sure we got food that we wanted. The menu for tribute looks amazing. Some of the dishes seem like they should be phenomenal. However, I just am not blown away by the food I have tried on this trip. I will be the first to admit. I'm a little more picky than the average consumer so keep that in mind when reading my review. I got the supper club steak, and it was good but had a lot of room for improvement. I also tried my wife's mac & cheese and was not impressed by that. The French dip that my son had looked really good, and I'll try that next time because I think it will be better. This is one of our favorite spots on the Iowa River Landing. We've had brunch before our kids' high school graduations and a fun place to meet our friends for supper or drinks. The Cubano Sandwich is my favorite with the homemade chips with buffalo seasoning on the side. Their French Dip, Fish and Chips, and salads are great too. The curved booth seating inside and shaded patio are so comfortable that we find we stay longer for after dinner drinks or dessert. We stopped by for our anniversary and the host asked us if we were celebrating anything special. We let him know that indeed we were and they treated us to dessert. We showed up promptly, but they weren't ready for us. Once seated, it took the server forever to just bring waters and take drink orders. Two of us ordered the Caprese Bloody Mary and were both given regular ones instead. Four of us ordered coffee but they were somehow out of it after just having opened, so we didn't get our coffee until halfway into our meals. When it was finally brought to us the server didn't bring cream or sugar. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, and was again disappointed. The biscuits were really dense, and the gravy needed more flavor. Also, if you are a large-bodied person or require mobility assistance (wheelchair, walker, etc), this restaurant was really tight to navigate!! Great location on the corner in Coralville. Expansive restaurant with fairly large inside and outside patio. Ambiance is fun. Food was a bit all over the board. Appetizers would be 5 star - The black and blue chips and the Sun-dried tomato spinach and artichoke dip were both excellent and highly recommended. Entrees would be a 3 star (or 2.5) - Steak sandwich was deemed just ok. Two of us ordered steak and the temperature wasn't right on either and they were woefully under-seasoned, both the steak and the potatoes with it. If you aren't going to have salt and pepper at the table, then get this right, or even close to right. Dessert would be a 1-2 star - We got the Budino as it was recommended. This SHOULD be a an Italian pudding/custard type dessert and this was with caramel. It looked great, but it was basically just liquid under the whipped cream, clearly not set. Tasted good. I saw half eaten ones (or half drunk) at the two other tables around us. Maybe an off night on that. However, I did mention it to the server that she should check with the kitchen as it didn't seem right. She just sort of nodded and said ok but nothing was done. Other than that service was quite good. I'd come back especially for the appetizers, but there is room to go outside of that. read more

There were easily 6 servers surrounding the bar area. About the same amount of customers. Why did it take more than a minute to get noticed. Oh, you were filling the limes for the late night rush. My bad. Follow this up with not wanting to give me the HH menu because it was 545 and it ended at 6. Then within the HH specials it CLEARLY states "Old Forrester" call drinks $5. Old Fashioned is also $5. I ask for an Old Forrester Old Fashioned and she up charged me. Know your menu. Food. Cuban was ok but had an inordinate amount of grease surrounding it. Fries were downright cold. I'd already experienced enough trauma here so I just touched it out with no complaints.
