I kept an open mind and was curious as to what was inside and to my surprise it was a well kept…read moreshop, neatly organized with local art and tons of strange "odd" things, as decor and for purchase. Local art, pretty unique jewelry (necklaces, rings, earrings) and headbands/tiaras. Funny taxidermy and preserved butterflies were there as well. An eclectic type of store and the shop owner lets you browse around in peace. Welcoming and not pushy on sales at all. We ended up buying sage and they have all sorts of fresh apothecary things (Palo santo etc.) If you're curious take a step inside and check it out you may find a treasure you just HAVE to take home! I will def. be back!

I don't always surround myself with the utterly dreadful, but when I do it's always at Dreadful…read moreThings. There's two kinds of people in the world, the squeamish and the one's pretending not to be squeamish (because come on, we are all afraid of something). I find myself in the openly squeamish group. But I still rather enjoy DT and the occasional goosebumps it gives me. I've been a few times now and I always find myself drawn to the preserved animals. From talking to the owner I know that these animals were not harmed or purposefully endangered in any way, DT just creates art, if you will, from natural death. They do give me the creeps and the worn dolls that adorn the bureau give it that added element of stomach, turning fear (thank you Child's Play and Tales From The Hood). There are also less creepy, but equally intriguing items at DT like shirts with EP inspired themes, purses, handmade jewelry (I picked up a sweet heart with nails and barbed wire necklace last time I was here), cat trinkets, and paintings. Explore and see what cool items you find. Along with the lively owner, you can seek help from her wonderful minions or the guy in the back that isn't very helpful and a bit of a snake. I prefer the minions who will hand you things and make you deeply consider adding it to your home decorations. I'd say the minion's are very animated even though their vocabulary is only that of a three or four year old, but they drive a hard sell and will help you look for anything. Not sure how many days of the week the minions work, but the snake is there all the time so you may just have to deal with him.
