My 4 kids enjoyed the children's activities. My only slight critique would be that as first timers, I was unclear what to do and where to go at first. I have been around church enough to figure it out, but even as a church guy I was a bit out of sorts. There are a lot of young families, which was nice to see. The pastor seemed quite gifted and humble. He simply tried to teach the bible helping us to understand context and make it understandable. Overall, I recommend this church to people who aren't connected in a church and want a non-churchy feel.

At first glance you would not know it is a church. It is situated in a shopping center, right next…read moreto a food lion grocer store. But don't let that discourage you from entering. As you walk in the door, you are greeted by friendly people, who welcome you, offer coffee, water and snacks/cakes. A really nice comfortable lounge / foyer area to relax and have coffee, to wait on others and mingle while waiting on service to start. The area also serves as an area to post announcements, collections for various ministries. It has an awesome kids area, modern, clean, lots of colorful graphics, games, air hockey and other stuff for kids. Then the general seating area for services. This is a nice clean, comfortable area, that has large round tables to sit, or a front area with regular seating. I loved the table idea, cozy, can write notes, and have a coffee in front of you. Service begin at 10:am. Sometimes there is a musician who played upbeat, progressive and various types of music, sometimes the screens would show various worship songs. About 15 minutes of music while people arrive and get seated then the service begins with the pastors message. Pastor Mike Pharr truly is an awesome speaker. He is down to earth, reads bible verses, but also applies honest, personal stories to relate to the message, he also just throws in a few funny things or something about himself that makes you laugh. He just has a relaxed but powerful way to present the message and the message is always relevant. Prayer is done throughout the message at beginning, sometimes during the service and ending. Music worship sends you off. I have to say that I was invited and cannot thank that person enough for that. i would not have known about this awesome place and am so thankful to be a part of them now. I am a new person, attending a few months now. But from the moment I walked in the door to the time I was made to feel welcome. I was given an adorable bag with a welcome gift. I was greeted as I walked in, people introduced themselves and welcomed me. At the end of the first service people came and introduced themselves welcomed me. Pastor Mike and his beautiful, wife, Karen talked with me after service. I have to say that this is a place that is welcoming, are true Jesus followers, believe and follow the bible, they are reaching out to the community to serve in various ways, homeless outreach, homeless huts, connecting with schools to sponsor them, they have a giving box area that they provide food, baby items and other items families might need and can visit this for those items. They have small groups that meet twice a month at 5pm on Sundays as well as a womens group that meets every third Thursday at 6pm. They have trips, picnics and other things for the rock community to attend. they have a website and a facebook page if you want to check them out. Since Bald Mountain Church was right down the street, we stopped in for their 10:45 service. We were a little uncertain where to enter, but once we figured that part out, we were greeted promptly by several of the parishioners, and even the pastor himself. The congregation was very friendly. The worship seems to be blended, with traditional hymns and choruses/praise songs both being sung. The sanctuary is large and very beautiful. They also have an early morning service, but we didn't discover this until our visit. I will definitely be joining them again for worship the next time we are in the area.

New Life is a very loving, caring, and comfortable church that everyone who visits will enjoy the worship, preaching, and fellowship! Plus they will fill very comfortable! Seeing the church being built up means so much to me! Back in January I had.told my mom that I wanted NLW to be my home church because I really loved it there and love the Russell's!! That following Sunday when I told Pastor and Sister Russell that I wanted NLW to be my home church they were so happy! Pastor Russell told me that if I wanted to be with a big youth group then that's what I should do. I told him I wanted to be at New Life! We are all just one big happy family! There is Kidzlife, The Youth Group and then the adults! We do everything together as a church family! Every Sunday Morning we have service at 11am, Thursday's we have Bible Study at 7:30pm, Saturday mornings we have outreach at 10am, and then Saturday Nights we have prayer at 7pm! I have been there for almost 9 months and I absolutely love it! Even if I had the opportunity to go back to my old church I would deny that offer because God has a reason for placing me at New Life with the Russell's! Seeing all the hard work that the Russell's have and are putting into the church is so special! One thing I love is Pastor Russell says the church belongs to God and not to him. He doesn't put pressure on people to give in the offering. Also he does his best to Include everyone! Now onto Sister Russell, She is a very special First Lady who is always there if anyone ever needs a hug or just to talk to! She has a very beautiful voice! I'm very thankful to have her and the rest of the family in my life! Lastly the Russell Kids, Kaitlyn, Timothy, Braden, and Chase! These four little kids are absolutely adorable and I love them so much! Seeing Kaitlyn and Timothy worship every Sunday is so special! I can't until Braden and Chase to know what it means to worship God! These four are the best little brothers and sister I could ask for! I know it was a long review I just wanted everyone to know that they will always be welcomed at the church and how comfortable they will feel!
