I often received emails that are tailored to me and not the entire student body. This is a fine level of service. On the academic end, the courses have been rigorous and the instructors have been very qualified and knowledgeable. They seem to be experts in their respective fields. Many schools have tenured professors who are out of touch with their own fields. The professors here seem to know their stuff. The "vertical" school as they term it is clean and modern. The parking lot is large so parking is not a hassle. There are nice areas for students to relax and food is available. Returning to the business aspect of higher education, I have a doctorate degree from another institution and that school was excellent. However, they were always very aggressive in collecting tuition and fees. Here the college works with the students and tends to avoid the threatening demand letters. Ultimately, the school has to get paid and you will not graduate without paying your balance. It's nice though that the school doesn't send out the goon squad because you haven't cut a check for a technology fee or overdue library book. I have about a year left here and I look forward to it. I would not hesitate to recommend Calumet College of Saint Joseph to anyway looking to further their education.

South suburban offers multiple courses in both manufacturing training and lifestyle improvement ( math, English, etc.). The campus in oak forest is right near 57 which makes access easy but also makes the area a bit noisy. Pace makes pickups and drops at the college. The facilities are kept up and the area doesn't appear to harbor a lot of crime.

Make sure you aren't pushed into enrolling in other schools, ask for the school MBLEx pass rate, and make sure you know what you are paying for. Compare everything to this school. New School for Massage is the BEST school for massage.

I also really enjoy the privilege of hands-on learning. We have so many animals on campus that we are able to not only help, but learn as we help them. It is really rewarding taking care of such amazing animals here. The initial process of getting registered for the program was easier than I thought and the staff in admissions was extremely helpful! From helping me figure out financial aid, to the in depth explanation of the requirements of the program, I felt very confident in my career choice. It is clear that all the faculty members just want us to succeed. They offer so much help that is easily accessible and they even check in on everybody to see how they are doing in the program!

I wasn't sleeping and it was affecting my physical and mental health. You're forced to take 5 classes at once starting your second term- there is no going part time- PLUS kennel duty. And the accelerated pace left me overwhelmed. There is no time to prepare for tests. Plus there are tests that if you fail them, you fail the entire class and therefore the program. We weren't so much as warned about this before starting. There's at least a test a week in each class, hours of homework and/or studying every single night. The pay for being a vet tech is simply too low to put this kind of stress on students. I wish my grades could have transferred, but I'm glad to be out of that stressful place.

I received $19.5k for…read morea transfer scholarship and then took out $700 deferred loan to look desperate which upped my IMAP grant to $9k. I then recouped the $700 each year by qualifying for a low income tax credit which negated my deferred loan. I just paid the $2,100 from my federal tax returns when I graduated. I received another $1,000 from Phi Theta Kappa and began working in my field by my junior year. I think I paid $6k for my degree. As a graduate student at St. Francis I started in the certificate program to take advantage of the lower tuition and received a discount because my company partners with the University. You have 7 years to complete the program. Most employers offer around $5k per calendar year which is about a class per semester and IS considered FULL time. If you drag it out long enough your employer pays for your degree. Essentially making grad school free. As for the program, at St. Francis I'm a person. We're taught by our professors rather than teaching assistants and they know you by name. Their doors are always open. They all have PhDs and have 20+ years of experience in their perspective fields or are still working in addition to teaching full-time. You'll complete typical homework assignments, papers, quizzes, tests, and discussion boards in which both the students and professors participate. In addition to getting a degree you actually learn something here that can be applied to your career and they take academic dishonesty seriously. I'm really glad I stumbled upon St. Francis. It's been nothing short of amazing.
