They are different than any other church I've ever been to. They have figured out how to connect so many people- groups. The amount of groups and the variety is amazing. I've never felt so at peace when I walk into a church. Their worship team and children's center is outstanding. If you are lost, new to town, or looking for a church home, I highly recommend coming by to see what they are about and how you feel after attending. I have been looking for years. I only wish I had ventured in sooner. I truly can't say enough about this lovely group of folks.

You can certainly go visit the churches on this tour on your own but it is really worth doing the guided tour so you can get inside the churches and take pictures and get a detailed history of each church. We had a super guide, Gary Carpenter, who also does professional photography, so he let our group of photo club photographers set our own pace and not rush to the next church. He also had access to the spots to turn on the indoor lighting which was a must for good pictures. I can not say enough about Gary and the nice ladies at the Chamber of Commerce. There are some fees for doing a guided tour but well worth it.

We came on our own and didn't get much information on the church's history but we still really enjoyed seeing the stunning artworks and incredible detail inside. I couldn't find the visitation hours posted anywhere but it was open when we came (Friday, early afternoon). The gift shop across the street was closed though. They do have mass here on Sundays and I assume that's when they open the gift shop. I assume the church remains open during standard daytime hours but don't take my word for it. If you appreciate beautiful churches, I highly recommend seeing this one.

The services are laid back and have almost a classroom feel to them. The small congregation is always friendly and close knit without excluding the new comers. Pastor Paul is great at really touching on topics that are relevant in life. Yes, this mall is located in a strange location (behind Joanne's Fabrics in a strip mall), but it grows on you. You can tell this isn't some sell out church spouting out popular doctrine and sacrificing tough messages. I think what I like the best about this church is the community--people really get to know each other here. They do great things to foster this sense of belonging like monthly pot lucks, dinner clubs, small group studies, etc. I never felt lost in the shuffle of things and there was a sense of accountability without the accusatory nature often found in religious organizations. I've been gone from B/CS for a few years now and have had the hardest time finding a new church in Houston that can match the environment found here. It is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a smaller setting for your Sunday rituals.
