When a family member passes away it is always a hard time for the rest left behind. But when your…read moretwenty-year-old nephew is gunned down and you are left with the reality of his passing...there is usually an outpouring of support and understanding...USUALLY!!! NOT the case with Fairview Elementary School in Cheyenne, WY. (2801 East 10th Street). After returning from California to help our sister deal with the loss of her oldest and only son the family was met with nastiness and no understanding of the situation at hand. Not only are we extremely disappointed with the way our family members were treated but appalled at the actions of Ms. Wagner. This woman had the audacity to roll her eyes and then proceed to inform us that there would be no makeup work given for a certain subject and that he would be given a zero for not completing it. I am sorry, but we were not on a vacation!! We were in California helping our family members deal with a horrific tragedy. Planning a funeral and supporting our family. Something I consider to be important. An unfortunate reality that most would be understanding about. I am sure that if this were to happen to a family member of Ms. Wagner she would be able to grasp the magnitude of the situation and show some type of understanding or compassion at the very least. However, not the case. Witnessing the way she treated our family I am amazed that she is still teaching children. I am saddened and irritated in the way we were treated. We were told we had to re-enroll due to the absences (due to the passing of our nephew). Even though they were kept informed the entire time we were out of town. That was just the first issue we encountered upon returning. I'd like to also note that Social Services were called...YES, if you can even grasp that action. I am just blown away with what transpired. Contacting Social Services??? Once again, our nephew was murdered, his Father shot and in a ICU and you want to call Social Services? Just simply foul on all those who treated us unfairly and added to the stress of an unfathomable occurrence we have had to deal with. Suggestion...maybe have that woman (Ms. Wagner) take some compassion classes and how to deal with family members and children that have suffered a terrible loss. Shame on Fairview Elementary. Deplorable actions. Downright disgusting. Thank goodness for the two schools that accepted our little ones. We most certainly were not going to allow our children to stay in a school that chooses to conduct themselves in that manner.
