Trinity Pines was excellent in every way! Roads are paved and well-marked. Scenery is gorgeous! The food was very good. The salad bar and side bars meant we were able to satisfy every dietary need and be full at every meal. The lines at the cafeteria moved quickly if there was one. This is my first time at a campsite. It's about 2 hours outside of Houston, but it's worth the drive. The more people that come the better!Even though there's lots to do, the most exciting excursions are charged separately from the set price. I would visit again given the chance, however there's always room for improvement. read more

I went to Trinity Pines Conference Center with my church for a retreat recently. The location is great and so are the accommodations. They recently remodeled and expanded so many of their facilities are brand new. There is even a pretty little waterfall and stream near the office. The serving time for breakfast is only about 30 minutes and lunch and dinner are one hour each. It is nowhere near enough considering when we were there, there were two other big groups. There was a long line during each meal and took forever to get our food. The food wasn't even that great so don't expect much. Unfortunately there isn't much to eat in Trinity either and the closest restaurants are about 30 minutes away in Huntsville. I would definitely go back to Trinity Pines but I would shoot for a less busy time of the year. I can see how it'd be real nice if we were the only group there. read more

I love Trinity Pines Conference Center and have been an active participant there in many capacities since it opened in 1980. I went to camp there as a child, teen, and college student. I have taken groups there for camp since 1995. It is a special place. We always feel closer to God during our stays. The location is wonderful - there is the beautiful Lake Livingston and trees galore! You will encounter all kinds of wildlife there too. There have been countless improvements in the whole facility throughout the years. The landscaping is incredible! As a children's minister, I have been to many camps and Trinity Pines is above and beyond most all other facilities. I have always felt safe and secure at Trinity Pines - the gated entrance and location of the camp are two of the main reasons. Also, they have an excellent staff who takes great care of everything. There are many recreation options too! There are paddle boats, canoes, lots of ga-ga ball pits, volleyball nets, soccer field, covered basketball court, disc golf, miniature golf, great swimming pool with slides and diving boards, softball field, ping pong tables, and so much more. One area at Trinity Pines where I do believe improvements could be made is with the food service. The food quality is often not the best and the portion sizes are typically way too small, especially for adults. I have certainly had much worse food at other camps, though. For the most part, Trinity Pines is an amazing place to "escape" and enjoy. read more

I would never return here! Our church took a group of kids here the 3rd week of June. The food was absolutely horrible - the worst camp food I've ever had. Portions were small for both kids and adult counselors. I'm not exaggerating when I say at least 80% of our kids went home constipated. The dining area is also small. We had to fight and save places for our group to sit. Dining times are also too short considering how small the dining hall is and how long you have to wait in line to get your food. The ropes course is more of a playground - not a real rope course and didn't resemble the website picture. The mini-golf area never had enough putters or balls (there were literally only 2 balls). The lagoon area that had the water slide and blob was only patrolled by one lifeguard. Kids were required to wear lifejackets to go down these (which is good) but their system for life jacket return was this: kid slides down the slide then has to swim out, run back to the slide, weave between all the kids waiting in line and give his life jacket to the kid waiting for it to go down the slide. Want to know what the kids did instead? Jump on the blob, see which line was shortest (often the slide), run to the slide and go down the slide while an incredibly long line of kids waiting for a life jacket on the blob had to wait for a kid to take 2-3 turns before giving up a life jacket. It was such an insane policy! Smores by the campfire: It's a fire - I get it. But the fire was built so big and hot the kids could not get anywhere close to roast their own marshmellows. They apparently accepted more campers than they had room for. This resulted in 15 kids being on air mattresses - that was just our kids in the Meyer building. We had other kids on air mattresses too. Also, some of those air mattresses were provided by Student Life (who ran the camp that week) not even the Trinity Pines people. Several of our air mattresses were only 1/2 full of air and it wasn't until lots of complaining and the very last night that we were able to get someone to come in and air up the air mattresses. I'm guessing they also ran out of air mattresses because I personally watched them pull out old mattresses from their storage closets in the Meyer Building. By old, I mean gross mattresses where the plastic was split and torn exposing the foam. Worst of all, our 6th grade girls cabin was infested with bedbugs. Even though we instructed our campers to bring their own bedding and not use camp bedding (our church habit), the girls in K.O. White house went home with BEDBUGS! Positive feedback - the family houses were decent in size. The bunkbeds were heavy duty and well made (not rickety where you could feel every movement of your bunk mate). The AC in the rooms got COLD! Perfect for summer. The center rooms had a sink, trash and refrigerator. The scenery was beautiful. read more
